Marina- Just another joy of being pg I guess. I am sorry about your pain in your butt! DH is probably right about the siatica and unfortunately the babies are probably pressing on your nerve and nothing to do about it. I hope you get some relief soon because I know personally it can be quite painful. I have had it (when not pg). I have been having some pain myself. It is from round ligament pain or so I was told. I have been getting sharp shooting pains that start on my left side and go all the way around the underneath of my belly. Amazing what we women can endure huh? As far as weight everyone is different and each pg is different. I gained a total of 50lbs with my dd and 10 was in the first 3 months! Now this time I am doing nothing but losing weight. I lost another 2 lbs this week. I think I am less that when I started I started all the fertlitlity treatments. So far I am down about 7 lbs or so, not that I am trying. I would feel better if I was not losing even if I just stayed the same.

Rinnie- I have also been having trouble sleeping. I wake up all night long. Like wonderce I must go to the bathroom at least 3 times a night so I don't think that helps.

Wonderce- My scan is set for Feb 17th, so 2 weeks from this coming tuesday. I have hear of them being wrong about the sex before too. My sister in law was told she was having a boy (however, they told her that at about 13 weeks) They ended up having an amnio and found out it was girl but I think 13 wks was way to early to try to tell that. Later u/s they were able to see clearly it was a girl but I think they earlier they try to tell the more likely they are to be mistaken.

I have decide to go and do a 3D u/s. I got a card in the mail for this place that does them. It is not covered by insurance but they give pics dvd, and cd rom with pics too. They have a package where you go in between 20-25 weeks then again around 32-36 weeks to see the growth and the later one you can really see the face. They even do gender confirmation. I guess it is easier to see what parts the baby has in 3D lol.

Hi guys,
We got bad news today-we just lost one baby.U/s today didn't show a h/b on baby B,they told us it's been about 1-2 days since. I did have a feeling something wasn't right. It happened again-the same thing second time around,16 weeks.
The doctor seems to be optimistic and says the other baby doing good, and it shouldn't affect it,but we are just terrified :( .They told me to come in any time ,even everyday,if I want to,to look at the remaining baby.
I'm so worry to lose the other one...
IVF#1-BFP,but lost our angel at 16 weeks
IVF#2-BFN
IVF#3-BFP,started w/tiplets,lost one at 7 weeks,lost a second at 15 weeks
Praying for a miracle baby to stay with us!
It's a girl!

Marina,

I know I haven't posted in forever, but I have been a daily silent observer on this site and just read your post. I am so very sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine your pain right now- it made me cry just reading it. I will keep your Baby A in my prayers and am sending positive thoughts your way. Try and keep strong for your other baby-- and hold on to the doctor's words that it is doing well so far.

Marina, I'm really sorry to hear your news. I know it must be devastating and am so sad for you. It sounds like your other baby is doing just fine though, and the doctor's offer for you to come in daily if needed is reassuring. I hope you can find the strength to stay as positive as you can for your baby. Hugs to you.

Hello,
I am laying in bed with a really bad cold, feeling miserable. However, I went to OBGYN yesterday and had an ultrasound. My blood clots are gone in my uterus. Wooohhhooooo. Everything looks good so far. The ultrasonographer said it's a girl. I won't start painting the nursery until my 20 week scan, just in case. I am so greatful my baby is ok so far.

Marina, you are in my prayers. I know how tough this must be for you. I have had two miscarriages. The chances the other baby will be fine is really good. My friend went through the same thing as you and now she is 23 weeks pregnant and things are good.

Im gonna go back to bed. dr has me on an antibiotic and I am on sudafed and vics.

Hello everyone.

Marina - my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Just take good care of yourself, remain postive and things will all go well with the little one that you are carrying.

doddo - I hope that you get better soon. It's so very cold here in NJ today so I try to not go outside, well as little as possible.

I had my growth ultrasound done today. Both babies are doing good and measuring 17w 5d. They also measured my cervix. They said that number was 4.5 and they look for anything over 3. Does anyone know what that means? Also before they started the u/s I told them that we don't want to know what the sex of the babies are. She told me that at 17 weeks she can get a pretty good idea of what the sex of both babies are but that really shows up on the 20 week u/s.

We are having the guest room and nursery painted. The painter is using oil base paint for the trim and my OB doesn't want me in the house so we are staying at my mom's. It's actually like a little mini-vacation.

Talk to everyone soon,

S.

Jerseygal- If I am not mistaken I believe they are referring to the length of your cervix. If it is too short or begins to shorten it could indicate pre-term labor or an incompetent cerivix. Glad they said yours it good!

Hope all the other girls are doing well.

Marina- You are always in my thoughts. I hope you are doing ok and trying to stay strong for your remaining baby, as hard at it is.

Hi guys, thank you all for thinking of me.
We are still in the game, trying to think positive. For me it would be much easier if I felt baby move, but I don't yet,or I'm not sure. This baby's placenta in front, and I don't even feel when I see baby move on a monitor. We are going Monday, now they want to see me every week. I seriously consider renting a doppler.
Lyly, where did you get yours?Do you guys know if the ones they sell at Motherhood stores work or it's just waste of money?

Best wishes to everybody,stay well!

Doddo, sorry to hear you're sick. That must not be fun, especially while pregnant! Maybe those meds will knock it out. Glad to hear your clots are gone though. Whew! That must be a relief to you. Congrats on your baby girl. :D

Jerseygal, it sounds like your 2 are coming right along. I haven't had my cervix measured yet but expect they will do it at my next visit. I've had two LEEP procedures previously where they laser off suspicious cells and my OB said this can sometimes affect cervical length? Anyway, your measurement sounds just fine. I can't wait to start painting and getting the nursery ready. Have fun on your mini-vacation.

Marina, stay strong. My baby's placenta is also in the front and I didn't realize that's where it would stay the whole time. The doctor said it may make it more difficult to feel movement, so I can understand where you're coming from. I keep waiting for any sort of flutter, but nothing yet. Here is Lyly's post about the doppler: "I paid $140 with tax and expedited delivery (3 day) the monitor itself was only $115. It even came with an extra bottle of u/s gel. So I got one small tube in the box with the monitor and another big bottle of gel that the company sent me for free. The monitor is called the Hi Bebe fetal monitor."

KB, good to hear from you! I am still jealous of your remodel although I'm sure having no kitchen for awhile can take it's toll. You must be eating out quite a bit! Congrats on your u/s and baby girl, possible 2 baby girls. When will you find out for sure if it's 2 girls?

Hi Lyly, your 3D u/s should be so much fun. They always have so many details! And really neat that you get to go again towards the end. I will miss having u/s but know I'm going back for at least one more. I know you're getting excited about your next appt this month.

Well, a little news from me, I went in for the results of my b/w screening and had a bit of a scare. But I had an amnio and thank goodness my baby is doing just fine and we found out we're having a girl! I'm so excited that it all feels more real now!

Marina So sorry about your loss, but I know your other baby will be great! Stay strong & positive for your little one!
I thought I felt movement a couple of weeks ago, but not really anything since. At the last u/s he was turned the other way, toward the spine so I'm hoping that's why I can't feel him. At this stage they're too small to feel kicking that way. I go back in on Wed, so we'll see what's going on.

doddo Ugh...how awful! rest up & hopefully it'll go away. It's nice to know baby is tucked up warm & safe in the placenta so it's all protected.
Yep, don't paint yet....my friend had that happen...all of a sudden it turned into a boy :)

Jersey So glad everything is going well! Good idea on the mini vacation...those fumes are awful.

kb A new kitchen will be so nice!! Congrats on one girl ...lot's of girls on the board all of a sudden. We'll have to start a list.

wonderce another girl!! Congrats! & I'm glad the amnio went well....it's really nice to have peace of mind :D Yes, the bathroom breaks in the middle of the night don't help the sleep. I also get hungry at 4 am if I don't eat enough protein during the day so I'm having to monitor that....I sleep much better with that extra protein.

lyly The 3D is awesome! We had one earlier, but I'm going to ask them to print another at my U/S on Wed. They actually look like little people :D The dvd sounds cool too....we might do that whole thing in a couple of months.

It's been very quiet around here lately. How is everyone doing?
I have been having trouble sleeping lately. I seem to keep waking up. I think I keep trying to roll over on my belly since that is usually how I sleep. I have to actually flip myself over when I want to change sides. Not sure why I just don't roll the other way on my back to change sides but I guess a 34 year habit is hard to break.

Marina- How is the siatica?

Hi Lyly, I was thinking the same thing about how quiet the board has been lately. I guess no news is good news! I have always been a side sleeper but kept waking up on my back. So now I'm constantly waking in the night to make sure I'm on my side. If it's not that, it's getting up to go to the bathroom. I don't mind though, as long as my girl is doing okay. You're about to hit the halfway point huh?

Rinnie, thanks! We're excited and DH has already started on a little nursery upgrade with some wainscotting and crown molding. We're also doing new closet doors in there and a new door to the room. Our house is older with a lot of dark wooden doors, so I'm excited to brighten the room up a bit. I can't remember, but have you started any decorating?

Hope everyone else is feeling good these days. I'm noticing for the first time that my pants today were a bit too snug to button the top button. I'm thinking of heading to Target this weekend to check out the belly bands or maternity pants!

Wonderce- I am actually 20 weeks today! :D Not sure why but every once in a while my ticker gets off track. I have about 18 or 19 more weeks to go since my doctor said they wont let me go to 40 weeks. If I don't go on my own by 38 weeks they will induce me sometime between 38-39 weeks. It stills feels like an eternity. I just can't wait to have my baby in my arms. Of course I don't want the baby to make its grand entrance too early and be premature. I just want a healthy baby. You are brave planning the nursery. I can't bring myself to think about it yet. I am so nervous I will jinx myself and something will happen to the baby. I don't know when I will feel comfortable enough. I still fear the heart will just stop beating. One reason I love my monitor. :) I still listen about once a day or sometimes every other day. At least I am not obsessed with it and can skip a day here and there. The baby is getting much easier to find now too and doesn't move out of range as frequently as before.

Only 4 more days until my level II u/s. I am so excited and nervous at the same time. I hope everything looks normal and I can cancel the amnio I have scheduled for the 20th of February.

breast pump question

Post by kb2131 »

hi all
i have a question. we have been looking and the breast pumps are very expensive. bridget is going to try and breastfeed and although with twins it may be difficult we are hoping to! I found a used medela double electric barely used and heard you can buy new tubing for 20 bucks and save alot of money. does anyone know anything about this and what do you think of it? thanks!
