My wife and I just went through our second IVF and still no eggs matured. We had 20 eggs retrieve the first time and no luck. The second time we got 13 waited one extra day before retrieving the eggs and still, none matured. Our Doctor told us this is very rare. It is so hard to keep my wife positive and I really want to let her know that there is hope. She is 37 and I’m concerned we are running out of time. Has anyone had a similar issue with previous IVFs and eventually retrieved mature eggs? If so, what did you do different, if anything? Also, what options are out there for women who have trouble maturing eggs on their own and via IVF? Is it possible that her eggs may never mature? I should add that her follicle sizes were good both times indicating that mature eggs should have been present.
Hi, i have not experienced this but i want to direct you to a website where i bet you will get some answers. It is the SIRM website. It is haveababy . com. It is free to register and you can post questions to multiple REs. Just post in every region and be very specific in your questions or else they will say they don't have enough info. It doesn't matter if your wife is not a SIRM patient. It is open to anybody. I think most posters are not their patient. HTH
I actually went through 3 rounds of retrievals and had no mature eggs at any of the retrievals. My doctor tried everything he knew of and believe me, he did a ton of research on it. He had never seen anything like it and he was only able to find one case study on the condition. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but he didn't think that science would catch up with me for at least another 10 years. We eventually came to terms with it and decided to give egg donation a try. I'm 30 weeks pregnant today with a healthy little boy and I'm very glad we made the decision to use an egg donor. It's a really tramautic and hard thing to go through, but it worked out for us in the end. Best of luck to you and your wife!!
I went through my first IVF cycle on November 2008.
They retrieved 11 eggs all very immature. They tried to mature them in the lab with no result, so my cycle was cancelled.
The biologyst told us this wasn't usual, she only heard of one case before and it was a long time ago. My eggs were the right size, all of them in between 19 and 20mm and the shot was given 36 hours before retrieval.
They recommended us to try once again to see what the result is, they told us there is an option that it can be genetic and if it is, then they will never mature.
We will try again on June (this time the dr is going to give me some medication to take before _metformin_) and if the eggs are immature again after retrieval they will try in vitro maduration.
Skinfy I've seen your posts in several forums, so I just wanted to know if you got any possitive answers of anybody getting pregnant in a second attemp after all immature eggs after retrieval. Also I think you were going to try for a third time. What happened?
please keep me posted
