I was told they were as they are both FSH. Anyone have experience with this...
So if someone is taking follistim and can get gonal for free, will it matter or will they need to buy the follistim?

theyre the same thing just different brand names; but i dont know if the units are equal...you can ask the nurse/dr. OR if you can get some gonal-f for free; maybe you can ask the office to prescibe gonal-f instead of follisim ??? Best of Luck!

I'm pretty sure the units are the same too. My RE Rxed me Follistim but my insurance covered Gonal F at a much lower cost, and the RE had no problem switching the Rx.

it's the same--just different companies. They both can be used in the pen form. I started off w/ follistom, but then my insurance wouldn't cover it anymore, so I had to switch to gonal-f. Only difference was that follistom brand had a cartridge that you put into the pen and they always had a little extra in them, and the gonal-f is a preload pen--exactly the amount that should be there is there--no extra. Both you dial up the amount needed. I found both to be about the same to use. I thought the follistom pen was maybe just a little easier to push in, but nothing too major.
p.s in one cycle I had a follistom pen left and it was no where near the expiration date, so I was able to use that and then continue w/ the gonal-f in the same cycle
