I just finished the best thing I've read on the octuplet story. It's a blog called Are We Judging the Octuplet Mom Too Harshly. http://www.creatingafamily.com/blog/ The same blogger did a good summary blog last week on this topic, but I liked this week's blog even better. This is such a weird story. Have you been wathcing the interviews with the "Octomom" on the Today Show? I wish I had read this blog before I saw the show.
Peolpe are not judging her that she wants a large family. . .It's that she CANNOT afford them, cannot even take care of them at all, we as tax payers are picking up her uninsured, non-paying self. Her greed for some need to feel an attachment has left her with 14 kids she will have no way to even manage on her own. She coudln't care for the 6 she already had. She admitted that she gets disability for three of them and get's $490 a month in food stamps. Why would anyone have more if they couldn't care for the ones she had?? And who gets disability for ADD??? Rediculous!!!!
Single isn't my issue with her at all. People "celebrate" families like the Duggars becuase they CAN afford it and are raising decent human beings in a loving home with the ability to provide emotionally and financially for them. The Jon and Kate plus 8 family struggled before their fame but made it work and were a true testiment to how you can overcome the hurdles life throws your way and still raise happy, healthy children while making your marriage work. We watch these families and are amazed at how they do things with all the kids and still they can all take care of them without state assistance.
When we see this woman I venture to say most people are sick to their stomach over what she has done. She needed a Psychiatrist not a fertility Dr. This whole story is unfortunate and sad to me. Super sad is all.

momtobetobe~ I hope my comment doesn't read like an atack on you at all!!! It's surely not I swear! :shock:This story is hard to not follow especially since we are abviously IVF'ers but I just find it sooo sad. Sad! Writing and reading blogs sometimes comes across harsher than we mean things.

No offense taken. I agree mostly with what you said, but I thought the blog had a very intesting point about a little bit of a double standard going on. It made me think more than I have. The same blogger did a really good blog on this topic and why it is so bad and scary and sad the week before. Thanks for apologizing. That's sweet, but not necessary.
I still can't understand why she was implanted with so many embryos. Here in the state of Hawaii, it's regulated and no more than 4 embryos may be placed.
... besides, when we my DH and I did a consultation for IVF, we were asked a lot of questions especially regarding care for the baby and how our marriage was doing.
