You guys have been busy!

Trying to hang in there, DH and I are on emotional rollercoaster – one minute it’s “we can never bear to go through this again”, the next minute it’s “just one more time,” the next “maybe we should consider adoption” or, “well, how much are donor eggs?”…

Thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers.

iolywant1
You go, girl!

Perhaps I will be in the 15%. I’ve hit smaller odds on this wild ride. It’s a fine line between optimism and insanity. OMG, what a wreck I would be for 9 mos. if this did pull through. The second beta was just under 48 hours: 11am Sunday to 9am Tuesday it just seemed closer since I didn’t get the first number until Monday. I don’t know how far it was from doubling, I’ll more know tomorrow.

Carmen
You’re in beta heaven.

Kittycat and Molly23
Good luck tomorrow. You can do it!

JennLB25
They just might let you go Friday if you ask. It’s still 14 days. I did mine on day 12.

RosiePosie

My heart goes out to you. I am stumped for encouraging words. But, just know you are not alone. They always say time heals and I’m truly hoping it’s true. Cry all you want, it’s free.

Hello

Post by wednesday »

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie both to the site and IVF. I am 28 and my DH is 33. After 3 years of trying, we went to a RE for testing and found out my DH has bad sperm morphology due to a hernia operation when he was 4. I thought it was me b/c I have endometriosis, but I did find out I have Thrombophilia, which puts me at a huge risk for blood clots, therefore I have to inject Heparin twice a day until the 7th month of pregnancy and take a baby aspirin everyday for the rest of my life. He says without those, I would have indefinitely had a miscarriage. My body also is unable to absorb Folic Acid, so I have to take 5 times the recommended dosage. So of course I'm very glad we underwent testing. Anyway, enough rambling!

I had 11 eggs removed, 9 lived, and 7 fertilized. Two were implanted 5 days later and were very high quality. I'm dying to POAS, but know thats not accurate, so I'm trying to not think about it so the week will go faster. I just feel like I'm going to start my period any day now. I know I should be more positive, I guess I'm just trying to prepare for the worst, hope for the best. Congrats on all who got BFP's and my apologies for those with the BFN's. I look forward to hearing more good news!

Barb- My Beta is the same day as your beta, so I have one more day!

Rosieposie, I am so sorry about your BFN, and take some time off from it, and see how you feel.

Siouxie, Like Barb said I hope your numbers keep doubiing.

Carmen, That is so weird that you live in Acworth too. We moved here about almost 2 years ago, but we use to live in East Cobb. I have lived in Atlanta my whole life.

Ionlywant1, a big congratulations to you and your BFP.

Kittykat good luck today.

As for me I think I am now obsessed with POAS. Today I did a different digital one First response, and i gave me an immediate yes. I still want tomorrow to be over with so it is confirmed I have a BFP.

Tomorrow is our Day Barb. I am so glad I have the day off. I cannot go in and test until 9:30 am, and I hope they get my results quickly.

Had my blood drawn this morning. Won’t know the results until this afternoon. She said we either want them to double or go down. She used the phrase “cautiously optimistic” but that’s sure not how I’m feeling and it rang a little false to me.

Welcome. On this board, lots of BFpers had AF symptoms, so don’t let that bring you down.

I’m wondering how you found about the folic acid problem. I guess I’m really wondering about whether I have the same thing, but they didn’t test me for it. I lost a pregnancy due to ancephely, which is frequently caused by folic acid deficiency. At the time, I had consistently been taking a prenatal with 975mcg of folic, which exceeds the RDA. Since then I have been taking 4mg daily, which is more than 4x higher than usual dosage.

Best wishes tomorrow. Friday the 13th will be a lucky day after all. (Sorry. Molly, I thought you were today.)

Well, today I am feeling really really boated and have a bad pressure in lower abdomen when I walk and when I go from sitting to standing and from standing to sitting. Just a lot of pressure, like I get when I have a cyst growing in my ovary.

I called RE's office and was told that my ovaries are filling with fluid AGAIN because I had so many eggs and my ovaries were huge. I was told to drink two "32" oz bottles of Powerade Zero every day now until BETA. WHAT????? I'm already up 3 times a night to pee! :x

To make matters worse, our power went out last night at 11:30 pm and we had no heat all night and the wind was so bad I thought my roof was going to blow off. :x Needless to say, I didn't sleep much. It was like 50 degrees this a.m.

I'm wanting to just cry. I swear, my boss just looks at me wrong today, and I'm going to lose it.

Sorry to be a downer today. I really don't have many days like this, but today is just a really bad day for me.

I pray ya'll have a good day today.

Jenn: I am having the same problem. I didn't have any symptoms...I thought. I never had an hcg shot for my IVF. So when I got my BFP apparently the hcg produced by the pregnancy caused a little OHSS. So I am on bed rest. But I really don't have any symptoms, I thought they were AF symptoms but the dr said it's the OHSS. Actually I had a feeling of fullness. During the ultrasound my ovaries were larger than my uterus and I had fluid on my abdomen. But my dr says no worries...just bedrest.

Just hang in there! I'm pulling for you!

I'm praying for all of you girls!

RosiePosie: I'm so sorry! A big hug and a special prayer for you.

Molly: Before I lived here in Acworth we lived in East Cobb for about three years! WOW!!!!

Lots of baby dust and prayers for all!

Hello all!!! I prayed for everyone last night and this morning.

As for me the waiting continues. Had my blood drawn earlier this morning, waiting for the results. Trying so hard to remain calm. Good news for me already is that my DH is coming home this evening til tomorrow morning, so no matter what the outcome is I will have him here with me. I'm still keeping positive. I am bloated as heck, its uncomfortable.

Souixsie, I am thinking of you. My cousin had similiar Beta levels on a regular pregnancy and they thought something was wrong, and everything turned out to be fine.

Molly and Barb- wishing you luck.

Thank you all for the supportive messages. They really help. Hope to post back with a BFP

Kittycat:Good luck today. This is my third cycle too!! Third time was definitely the charm for me so far. I too am having some sharp pains. They go away when I rest and one time it did wake me up in the middle of the night but I ignored it coz.... there was that or stay up the night worrying. I had BFP despite the pains. I'm attributing these to either ovaries healing from ER or implantation.

Wednesday:Welcome. Now your a groupie, too. My first time ever posting and now I'm definitely hooked. I look forward to checking the posts coz it helps boost my spirits. It also brings out my motherly instincts to say some encouraging or comforting words to others in the same boat. Congrats on growing such fine embryos. Sucks that you have to take shots for the course of your pregnancy but I'm sure it'll be worth the pain.

RosiePosie: Way to get back on that horse. My first RE recommended that as soon as I have a period that we should start my next cycle. I couldn't bring myself up to it for 8 months even though my biological clock was ticking. Then it was BFN and I thought for sure third time wasn't going to work. He suggested donor eggs AND donor sperm. I didn't like that . I resolved to try three times and then if it didn't work then it is meant to be. I went on SART.org and compared success rates and found my new doctor. The rest.... is history. (It took me half a year to work up the courage to come back a third time.) Glad I did.

Carmen: Brit16 is right molar numbers are really high. Sometimes in the millions. Also they did an u/s and a molar doesn't look like a baby. Stop reading!

BarbD: If you're this sick maybe you have multiples or your first trimester is really going to suck. Its nice to have vomiting coz I've read that there is less chance of miscarriage.

Siouxsie: Hang in there. Roller coaster rides aren't much fun. We'll wait and see. I'll keep praying for you. As far as testing for the mutation its called MTHFR (methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase) It can prevent your body from forming enough folate from raw materials in your diet. Whether you get tested for this or not the treatment is the same: 4mg folic acid and aspirin.

JennLB: Sorry you're having such a bad day. We all break down and we will continue to breakdown. If you hit rock bottom, no where to go but up.

Good luck for all the Friday the 13th testers.

Well, we just may pull through. Trying. This time we doubled. They said remain “cautiously optimistic” and come in again Tuesday.
41, 45, over 100, next check: 2/17

Kittycat
Thanks for the encouraging words.

ionlywant1
Thanks for the explanation. I guess I’m covered since I’m on the megadose of folic and the aspirin, but I’ll ask about the MTHFR, too.

JennLB25
Our power went out the first night I had $1600 worth of Follistim in the fridge. I woke up and had no idea how long it had been out. Needless to say, I was not happy. Luckily, it didn’t turn.

Some days are just like that. Just let go. A little ranting is sometimes all it takes.

Wow Carmen that is awesome. You may have twins.

I have some questions about my beta tomorrow. Will they just do a blood test. Also if it comes back positive when do they normally do the ultrasound and more blood test. Also my nursing friend mentioned something about them checking to see if the cervix is closed. I am sure my doctor told me some of this before, but I somehow forgot.

Molly: When I went for my first beta, I POAS, talked to the doctor, and then had my bloodwork(beta). That same day(monday) she scheduled another beta on wednesday as well as a ultra sound. And on wednesday I was scheduled for another beta on the following monday and wednesday as well as another ultrasound on wednesday.

I hope this helped. I'm not sure if this is standard.

Are you really excited about tomorrow????
