CONGRATULATIONS MOLLY!!

I too was shell shocked and couldn't think and then thought of things later. My nurse transferred me over right away to schedule the first u/s. Our plan includes just one from my clinic and she said they do it 1 1/2 weeks from BETA. At that time they'll check my progesterone again and then give me all my records to take to my regular OB. I've already made my appt with CNM because they like to see their patients for the first time between 6 and 8 weeks.

Good luck in the coming weeks...it sucks waiting for that first u/s. This wait is by far the worst and the slowest!

Hello again ladies.... Well, i do start stims tonight. Here is what I do tonight and every night till Monday.... 225u Follistim, 10u Lupron, 1 Baby Aspirin daily, and 5000u Heparin mornings and evenings :shock: Shelly, it hasn't even dawned on me to ask the RE why do they have me on Heparin & Baby Aspirin. I know they r both blood thinners, but what is the purpose during an IVF cycle... I don't know, does anyone know???
I am 32 yrs / DH is 34
PCOS/1 tube/ DH low sperm count
1st IVF cycle... Nov 2008 = BFN
2nd IVF cycle...Feb 2009 = BFN

Molly: Congrats on being officially preggers!! You can actually figure out your due date using your EDC (Estimated Date of Conception) using an online calculator like this one: http://www.amazingpregnancy.com/duedate/. In one respect, we IVFers have a leg up on fertile folks since we know our exact date of conception (day of egg retrieval). Of course, very few folks actually deliver on their "due date", but it'll at least give you an idea. Hope this helps a little!

Lady J: Yahoo, i'm so happy we're stimming together! Here's to growing some beautiful, quality eggs in the coming days with you and all the other stim-u-ladies here. :D Did your RE ever give you an explanation as to why you're doing the blood thinners this cycle? Is it for your uterine lining? How much follistim will be doing? I'm on 375 for the first 5 days.

JennLb25: Hope you're feeling better soon! I hope you'll be able to rest more over the long weekend and that your power will be restored sooner than expected. How horrible to be dealing with all of this at the same time!

Waitingfor4: Happy Moving Day! Enjoy some well-deserved privacy with your DH this weekend. Hopefully the paint fumes have aired out a little from the other day.

Sending sticky babydust to all and hoping for good news from Barb today. PMA vibes to everyone as well.

As for me, woke up this AM with a wicked headache. I've already tried tylenol, but it's not budging. Guess I'll try a heating pad or ice pack on my head.

Oops, sorry Lady J, I missed your last post. I have read that some REs believe that thinning the blood allows better profusion to the uterine lining. They believe that this enhanced bloodflow may help with implantation.

When I worked in the hospital, some of my patients would receive either Lovenox or heparin to thin the blood to the MDs desired levels, and then they would take baby aspirin to maintain that level. Of course, these were not fertility patients I'm talking about, but I thought I would share my experience in case it is helpful to you.

Thanks nursegator... The good time finally begins. I have a major headache right now as well. I still don't take anything since I left my Tylenol at home. I called my nurse to ask her about the heparin injections... I was confused as to which syrnge out of the 4 or 5 that I have , is for the heparin. She also explained that I need to do it on abdomen, and to put ice on it befor ehand and after for about 30 seconds. Cuz I will be bruised all over my belly. She didn't have my chart in her hadn but she said there are several reason why they add Heparing to cycle.

* previous miscarriages
* endometrioses
* blood cloting
* failed IVF

I forgot what else she said but the only thing I could think of is failed IVF. I will ask Monday, since she will have the chart in her hand.

Well ladies, I am about to go home so I will check back in during the weekend.

Barb.... Where r u hun, we havent gotten your positive news. How did your Beta go? Let us know. Good Luck.

Happy Valentine's Day Ladies... TTYL.

Perhaps your Re thinks that your previous IVF failure is the result of failed implantation? If so, this cycle your lining will be bright red and beautiful, a perfect cozy place for your embies to snuggle into. Just think of that when you're taking all of those extra heparin shots :) Oh, and if they didn't mention it to you, you'll need to apply extra pressure to stop any bleeding after administering all of your shots. I'd hate for you to ruin any clothes with the extra clotting time. Expect a lot more bruises on your belly this go around, too.
I've given a lot of heparin and lovenox shots-- and the abdomen looks pretty beat up after a few days of it. Of course, it'll all be worth it when you get your BFP!

I hope your headache disappears soon, hun. Have a great day and enjoy your Valentine's Day festivities with DH!

Hi, all. Thanks for keeping me on the list even though I faded out for a bit. I realized that I had to stop checking this board during the 2ww or I'd drive myself crazy, so I've been staying away and keeping my mind off babies.

Well, got my beta results today and we're pregnant. The hCG was 3520, which is higher than previous times. Since the last 3 times have ended in miscarriage, I'm happy to see anything that seems different! Now if only we can keep it going up ...

Lady J, my RE mentioned that one reason they prescribe baby aspirin is for auto-immune system infertility. I don't know much about that, but it includes situations where your body might attack an embryo thinking it's a foreign object or something like that. I don't know why the aspirin helps exactly, but I took one every day this cycle just in case.

Congrats Molly on your official bfp! There is actually a pregnancy calculator right on this site. Look to the left down the bottom and you will see "pregnancy calculator." Just put in your date of ER and it will tell you your approximate due date. If I remember correctly, my first u/s was about 2 weeks after beta, another excruciating 2 weeks of waiting.

Lady j- congrats on starting stims! I wish I was joining you, but looks like I will be waiting a little while.

I went for all my heart testing this week. Echo came back fine on wednesday and stress test today was good except for high blood pressure. My general dr cleared me for the polyp removal after the echo, but hopefully won;t change her mind after seeing the blood pressure from today. I think it may be elevated a bit due to the bcp's. I hope RE gets me in quick for polyp removal, so I can move along on my cycle. Depending on surgery date, it looks like I won;t be starting stims now until either 3/13 or 4/10. What really stinks is that if we want the earlier one, which I think we can make, dh's TESE doc will be out of the country, so we will either need to do frozen sperm, or wait for april's cycle. I could deal with all the bumps, as long as they didn;t cause delays, I hate change of plans.

To everyone else...much baby dust to you all, and make sure those dh's treat you good tomorrow! Happy Valentine's Day!

CTMichele: I'm happy to hear that your heart tests came back normal and that you're able to move forward with your polypectomy. Sorry to hear DH's TESE doc is out of town for the earlier date-- Is there another doc in town that could do the procedure? So sorry for all the delays-- the frustration alone is enough to drive your blood pressure up! I hope you'll be cycling ASAP. Enjoy your Valentine's Day.

A BIG FAT CONGRATS to Kate on her BIG FAT POSITIVE!!! Woohoo-- 2 in one day! This board is really, really blessed.

Barb: Congrats, Congrats, Congrats! Talk about a LUCKY Friday the 13th and the PERFECT pre-Valentine's Day gift! 3 in a row-- we are on a roll!!! CT_Michelle is right, the Pregnancy Calculator on this site is very good, better than the link I posted earlier. All you have to do is put in the date of your blastocyst transfer and you're all set with an estimated due date.

Kate Congratulations! Your Beta numbers are super high. Happy BFP too you.

Barb, I knew you were going to get your BFP, and congratulations. That was sweet of your hubby to take you out and distract you.

hopeful~n~09- I am happy to hear you had your first lupron shot today. Happy stimming.

CT Michelle thanks I will check out the pregnancy calculator on this site. I am really happy to hear your heart test came back fine, and I am sure you will be stimming soon enough.

Lady_J- YaY, glad you are stimming tonight, and I know the wait will be worth it. Lots of sticky baby dust to you and everyone else starting their stims.

This is a lucky thread and I am sure you ladies will get your BFP.

As for me my hubby is convinced we are having twins, but I told him my beta was not high enough for that. He still won't believe me. We went out to dinner and celebrated tonight.

Happy Valentines day everyone. :D
