Ghost or others -Lupron Question

Post by windycity »

I am taking Lupron shots so that my cycle can get matched up to my egg donor . I started taking my Lupron shots one day before I would have started my period. I have now been taking the shots for 7 days but I have not started my period yet. Should be be concerned or will I get my period in the next few days? I called my RE office and they did not seemed concerned thought that I would probably start within the next week. I am going in for blood work and Ultra sound in 7 more days. I am just concerned this will cause problems with synching up with my donor for a egg retrival in early March or that this could signal a problem. Any one have experience with this?

Thanks for any advice.

You have no reason to be concerned at all, it is normal. In fact, it is also possible to not get a period for that month after taking Lupron.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your response. I only took Lupron microdose my last IVF for a few days so this time taking Lupron for a few weeks with no period had me worried that it would be hard for the egg to implant without a normal period when the time comes. I know the clinic is monitoring me but I guess I just wanted to make sure it would not cause problems with the egg tranfer to me.

Thanks so much, I feel better.

Nope, shouldn't be a problem at all. Basically the only thing Lupron does is control your cycle so they have a better estimate of when you will ovulate or to get you on your schedule. Lupron won't affect the transfer at all. In fact, my first IVF cycle I didn't get my period that month. All three times I was on Lupron for about 3 weeks before starting my stims. I also took the Lupron while on stims up until the ER.
