question for Ghost and ladies

Post by kristinpa »

hi Ghost and girls, now that I am pregnant my RE wants to switch me from PIO shots to the vaginal inserts until week 12. I am nervous that they are not as effective as the shots. Am I being irrational? Are the progesterone inserts just as effective as the shots? The crazy thing is that I am probably the only person who actually doesn't mind the IM shots...I give them to myself believe it or not!

I have never used the shots, only the inserts, and they must be effective because my little one is almost 6 months old now! I would be curious to know why the switch though. I have read of success both ways, but I don;t know if I have ever heard a switch in the middle. I am sure you will be just fine, and enjoy your pregnancy!

Kristen, I would want to know like Michele said, why the switch?? I too had the shots, gave them to myself, & didn't mind them much. Funny though, CTMichele and I both went to the same doc (we both live in CT) She has a beautiful girl and the doc had her on the sups, I am now 33 1/2 wks with a little fella, and the same doc had me on the injections. I guess it really doesn't matter, but I would stilll ask WHY??? Best of Luck!!!!! Jennifer

Ghost has vanished.

However, if he was to appear, he would say that the suppositories work just fine, and it's common to transition from the shots to suppositories at about this time. Ghost's clinic does it routinely.

Not to worry.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

My RE gave me the option to switch but i have chose to continue on the shots, like you they don't bother me. She said if they ever start to I can switch and most people switch due to not liking hte shots so they let them stop once they get a BFP. I am going to try to continue the shots until 12 weeks I am not likeing the idea of switching

Studies show the suppositories are just as effective and some clinics are starting with them and doing away with the shots altogether.

I am just like you, my first BFP, I switched to the inserts and hated them. So with my current BFP, I asked to stay on the shots, they let me and so that is what I did. I also do my own shots and have no problem with them.

If you prefer them, then just ask to stay on them. I think they switch you mainly because it does not matter and most women prefer the inserts!. They just made me itchy and were messy (even the endometrin which is supposed to be less messy). No matter how hard I tried to insert it all the way in, I still inevitably got stuff leaking out. I hate where liners and thus hated the leaking part. I also have a sensitive cervix and would see pink on the applicator and that would always freak me out!

Anyway, I think you are safe either way...
