Well I had my ER last night at 10:00 pm. I was a little wierded out by all the staff coming in to do the procedure, since the office wasnt bustling like it does during normal work days. But everything went like clock work.
I did not want them to knock me out since I wanted to know what was going on. It really as amazing. The U/S probe was the only real discomfort, and I feel pretty crampy today.
They retrieved 17 follicles. My nurse said they looked "awesome" I think they think I am somewhat of an anomaly. I am anxiously awaiting the phone call regarding fertilization. I will let you all know.
Hello to all, and welcome to the board.

Hi guys. There has been a lot going on lately. I feel like i may have made some big mistakes or left people out. Please let me know where i screwed up. Here goes.......................
njsurga, you look amazing. You look like your daughter's friend not her mother. Don't take this wrong, but have you had any plastic surgery on your face? I only ask because if you have, i want some too and by the same doc. That is if i can ever afford any after paying for all the IVF.
Kris, again, i am so glad to see you again. I hope your hysteroscopy results are good and that gives you the last little push you need to go forward. Keep us posted. I can't wait to put you back in the cycling group again.
I forgot to address what your mom said. I would be shocked if it is 50% but there are a lot of us out there and many more soon to join the club. I also belong to a pay for access board that is ttc related. There are 100s of women on the over 40's board that are ttc. Most of them have had at least one child at or around forty and are trying for more. So don't let the thought of being the only older mom out there scare you away from TTC. I promise, you are in good company.
NY, have you made any decisions yet? Keep us posted.
Santa, hoping all three were still looking good for transfer today.
Sisi, you are the next one to watch. I know you are getting excited. I know i am. I will be 1 week behind you. So we will kind of be cycle buddies.
Missy, what are the results from your beta today?
Kat, how was the ER yesterday?
Sue, when is your beta?
Renee, hope you are having fun but not overdoing it.
Suzanne, i hope you had a nice trip. How are you feeling? Good luck on the US tomorrow.
Tammy, are you sure the watch didn't work? Are you temping? Maybe you didn't ovulate this cycle. Glad you and your little pumpkin had a great time at Disney. Keep us posted on the plan you and you doc come up with this week.
Lynnie, have you found out anything else? So you are going to have a repeat US the day of the amnio? I am confused by something you said. You said, the chromosome had genes on it or something. But that doesn't mean the genes are necessarily functional right? Did you decide to wait on you blood test results? My thought and prayers are with you, your husband and your little one.

Kelly....this is actually IVF #2 for me...first one was successful and the second one is ongoing!!! My Beta today was in the upper 600's so that's great!!
Kat...congratulations on a good retrieval!!! Keep us updated on the fertilization!!
Kat, Missy and Njsurga: Thanks for the nice comments on my little Andrew. He really is a sweetheart.
Kat: Great news on ER! 17 eggs is amazing!! Keep us updated on the fertilization report.
Missy: Wonderful news on your beta!!! With a number like 600, you probably will not have to have another beta right? When I was pregnant with Andrew they only did one beta. It was between 400 - 600 and that was enough for them not to do another one I guess.
Kelly: I am not temping. However, the pee sticks worked last cycle. Maybe you are right..........maybe I did not ovulate this cycle. However, I did have ovulation type cramping early in the cycle.
Njsurga: Those were very nice photos that you posted of you, your hubby and your daughter. I have to agree with Kelly...........you look great.
Hello to everyone else.

I had my embryo transfer today - 2 8-cell Grade 1 and 1 6-cell Grade 2 (1-5, 1 being the best). I am so excited and nervous. But hubby is extremely scared of triplets or even twins, so this is causing some tension. It is a bit lonely when I feel distance even from my husband, then I pretty much feel all alone on this journey as I have not told many people I am doing IVF, just a handful of sisters, etc. So glad that I have you ladies to share with.
17...that is more than I got from all 4 ivf rounds combined! Go ovaries!
Kelly -- Yes, its a large piece, bigger than some of the smaller chromosomes even and has banding...which means it has euchromatin, which means it has coding information on it..
If it was non-coding DNA than that would be great! But alas...

Santa..Good luck to u sweetie, and u are NEVER alone here.
Liam's Mom,,, No, I haven't had any work done on my face (I swear..LOL), my family has great genes but I'm sure my eggs won't let me forget how old I really am..lol.
I'm a little past the halfway pint in my cycle...just waiting for AF to come for my first us/ blood work. I can hardly stand the wait.
This is my first post but I have been reading thru your post and it is great that you give each other support. I did my 3rd ivf and i got my bfn today so I am really depressed and disappointed. the 1st ivf I did I had 3 embies put in with a bfn. the 2nd ivf was cancelled due to non fertilization and this 3rd one there were 5 embies transfered so I was so hopeful. I really thought this was it! My husband has no children and I have a 15 year old daughter from another relationship. I feel like I have failed in some way. . Im sorry for the long post, but I dont have anyone to talk to about how I feel since I didn;t tell anyone just in case it didn't work out. I'm in New York.
the 1st and 2nd ivf were with the lupron/bravelle/repronex protocol
the 3rd ivf was with bcp/bravelle/menopur/ganirelix
by the way I just turned 40 in January and I have blocked tubes and my husband is 39 and they say he has low volume
Sorry to hear about your BFN, was that from a beta test or an HPT before the beta?
I know how disappointing the BFNs are believe you me! For me, four times was a charm...I had insurance to cover a lot of the costs, but its hard going through this if you are paying out of pocket. We could never have done 4 rounds on our own dime. The money aspect makes this so much worse and so much more heartbreaking!
Are they doing ICSI? I am wondering about your second round with no fertilization. How many eggs did you have? Also, for this current round with 5 embies, I assume you did a day 3 transfer -- what was the quality of the little ones???
I hope 4 times will be a charm for you if this round is definitely a bust!

Kat~17 eggs is fantastic!! That is over 6x the number I got! (I knew I would have egg envy ; ) I think you've got a really good chance with all those eggs to work with--congrats!
Santa~congrats on your transfer! Those sound like some high quality embryos you've got in there. I'm sorry you and DH are not in agreement. I know what you are saying about feeling so alone when you are at odds with him. But don't worry--you are still both on the same team and this will pass soon! Also--fertility meds heighten all our emotions and make things seem worse. Think happy thoughts for your embies--distract yourself with a movie or good book. I'm glad I have a buddy in the 2ww now!
Hopeful4baby~welcome to our board. i am so sorry about your BFN! I know how much it hurts. I am in the 2ww for IVF 3 and am sooooo scared of the BFN. Are you planning on trying again?
Missy~congrats on the rising beta! How exciting.
Suzanne~good luck at your ultrasound.
Kelly~thanks for all your support and your awesome list. My beta is March 2 New Zealand time--so that is March 1 for you ladies in north america (we are a day ahead down under. It is already Tuesday evening as I type this!)
njsurga and teachetam~thanks for sharing your pics! It's nice to see what you and your kids all look like. I feel like everybody on this thread is good looking! including those earlier pics of Renee and Kat. Of course I always imagine you all as the nicest, loveliest ladies ever--but it really seems to be true here!
The 2ww is making me crazy today. I am having a down day where I worry that it didnt work. I just cannot bear another BFN! I also forgot what I was doing and moved a dresser which was probably stupid to lift something so heavy! I went to AP yesterday--which helped me to relax and not worry--but im afraid it is wearing off already.

Hopeful4baby: Sorry about ur BFN, I'm sure it's so hard but hang in there? U didn't fail sweetie..our bodies are very unpredictable, u just never know. Have u consisered using donor eggs? I certainly have and I figure if my eggs and hormone levels don't look good I'm making a beeline toward the donor route. At my age it may be my only alternative.
Sue: From the picks I've seen on here all the ladies are attractive!!
Ur 2ww must be driving u crazy!! I can't even imagine whats it's like. But I'm gonna find out shortly I guess. Lots of BABY Dust for u dear!!!
If anyone on here is on facebook and needs a friend to private message and chat please friend me. My name is Sharon Anastasi Campolo. I'm always around and could use a few buddies!!
thank you 4 your support. My husband wants this to b the last time because he is discouraged because its been our 3rd time and he said maybe it just isnt meant to be and we should just move on. Egg donors are not really an option since I really wanted it to be my eggs. My eggs were 4ab, 4aa, 6ab grades and the doctor said they were good. They did have to use ICSI They want to give me a consult on a different strategy and my job pays $20,000. towards infertility treatments and i have used up 11,000.00 so I still have $9,000.00 to use so I would only have to pay about $2,000 out of pocket. I want to try again but am so afraid of getting another BFN. I am also looking into a program in New York called the New York Demonstration Program which helps couples pay for infertility treatments.
I was thinking of waiting until May and doing accupuncture as well as going on a diet and losing at least 10-15 lbs since my doctor had advised me to lose some wait at the first consult for the ivf and I heard accupuncture really helps.
what do u guys think?
My husband is dissappointed but insists I just take care of myself and give myself a rest from all the am bloodwork and just focus on myself, but I feel if I don't have a baby i am letting him down despite what he says
