Newbie beginning 1st IVF cycle!

Post by cymplicity27 »

Hello. First I'm sorry for not joining the discussion already in progress for March 2009 cycles but I'm new and everyone seems to know each other (and so much) and it's all so overwhelming!! :P I'm interested in meeting ladies (especially 1st timers) who may be starting their injections around the same time as me. I start Lupron next Monday, March 2nd. Or if you are new like myself and just want to talk/learn about the process with someone, I'd love to hear from you! Thanks!

Hi Cynthia ~

I just wanted to say "good luck" to you! I was in your exact shoes last year at this time. I got pregnant with twins on my first IVF, so it is possible! Be sure to try and relax and stay positive- I think that works wonders! Sending baby dust your way!

Take care and again, good luck!

Jenny, thank you! That is SO encouraging to hear!! I am so anxious and can't wait to get started with my meds. Who knew I'd be so excited about sticking myself :P They are suppose to be delivered tomorrow and I already know I'll just lay everything out and stare at it and read over material obsessively all weekend until I can start them on Monday, LOL! I am definitely optimistic at the moment....just praying that things go smoothly.

Hi Ladies,

I am new to IVF. I just started my meds on 2/26. Today will be my first day of the stim medication. The shots don't seem too bad so far. However, I think I am a little scared of the IM needle..I just realized how big it is!! Any words of advice on the overall experience and procedure?

Hi Cynthia and Nicole! Like both of you, I'm a first time IVF person (although I won't have ET until mid April) and still getting to grips with the process. I start my down regulation drugs on Thursday and have an expected ER/ET in w/c 13th April, so I'm a bit behind both of you guys.

I joined the 'March/April cycle buddies' thread. There are lots of lovely ladies on there who are currently cycling or will be soon, and it's a great place to get information and support. Cynthia, don't worry that you might be joining a 'closed' group where everyone knows each other really well - I've only been on there a very short while and new people are joining all the time.

Good luck to you both, and maybe see you on the March/April thread.

Hi

I had my transfer a week ago and this was my very first time with all of this stuff. I hope everything is going well for you. I found that the shots weren't as bad as I had been thinking they'd be, so that was a relief. I just kept telling myself that it would all be worth it and I know it will be. I have my blood test next week and I'm trying so hard not to think about it and not analyze every little thing that's going on with my body (my boobs are killing me when my dh hugs me and i finished my entire order of food last night when normally I can only eat 1/2 to 3/4) but it's just so hard!! I have a wonderful support system and I can't wait to tell them I'm pregnant!!!!

Let me know how everything's going for you and if you have any questions I'd be glad to try and help!

Jenny :)

Hi Jenny! Thanks for the well wishes :D You're right, so far the injections aren't that bad. I'm currently doing Lupron in the mornings, just took my last BCP yesterday. Hopefully I will start stimming next week!! I'm so excited for you! Good luck with trying not to think about it :P Sounds like you're having some "good" signs at least. I'd be more nervous if I felt NO changes. What was your protocol? As I mentioned I was on BCP for about two weeks, started Lupron, once AF arrives (this weekend hopefully) I have to call my nurse and she'll tell me when to start stimming (Gonal-F) and schedule my baseline u/s and bloodwork. I'm hoping she'll also be able to give me a rough estimate of when my ER/ET will be. So much waiting!! Uggh! lol These past few weeks have been so long. I'm hoping time goes by a little faster once I start going in for monitoring. Anyway, thanks for responding and let me know how things go!!

Hi everyone!

I have my preg blood test tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm soooooooooooooo incredibly nervous and excited. At least in less than 24 hours I'll know. I've resisted doing a home preg test convinced it's too early for them to tell and I just can't stand seeing another negative coming from that little stick

I'm praying for all of you and spreading lots of sticky baby dust!!!

new as well

Hello All, I am Annette and I am new to IVF as well.
We had our first consultation in January and all the tests as well. My hubby has a very low sperm count so the only option is IVF. I need to take Bromocriptine but I dont like it at all - it has some unpleasant side effects. Next Tuesday we will have our consulation on when to start a cycle.

How long does a cycle usually take? Can I go and start right away?

Thanks for your help
Annette
