Hi Biddy. Welcome to the "oldies but goodies" group. I will update the list again this week but i did go back and add you to the most recent once above. So, will this be the 3rd ivf attempt? By that i mean third transfer following ER? I am trying to keep it accurate so that others thinking about doing IVF at our ages will understand it isn't an easy road. KWIM? Next, post why don't you tell us a little more about yourself mystery woman. :D

njsurga, where on earth do you live and what insurance company do you have that pays for all of that? That is unreal. Yep, i would be trying on my own for multiple cycles if i were you with those benefits. DAMN.

Kat, any news yet?

Hil, i hope you and the spermanator got the job done last night and you get to cancel you upcoming ivf. That would be so sweet. What a bummer that you have been benched so long waiting to ovulate. I will edit the last list and put you in the cycling group too. For some reason i don't have you age. Could you refresh my memory please. I am too lazy to go back through the posts and look for it. Also, go up and see if i got your number of IVFs correct.

Lynnie, thinking of you.

Sending lots of "STICKY VIBES" to Sue and Santa.

HUGS, Kelly

Kelly: My husband is a NJ State Worker so the benefits are real good. They even cover it if u had a surgical sterilization in the past, not many exclusions either. I guess I luck out in the reguard we'll see how everything else goes.

Kat: We'll be waiting...good luck!!!

I'm still waiting for a full flow before I call and make my appointment for my us/bloodwork....C'on already it's seems like it's taking forever!!!!

3rd times a charm?

Post by krisnerol »

Hi Ladies,

Well, I am going to go for it and try a 3rd IVF round since Sept. 08. I had my hysteroscopy the other day and everything looks good. My FSH at day 3 was 8.8 and my estradial was 40. I figure it's now or never so this will be my last attempt for having a baby. Back in 01 I had IVF and it seemed so "easy"--got BFP 1st try, but I was only 34. I'll be 42 in July--it's amazing how quickly those years fly. I am encouraged by this board with all the BFP's! I will be doing a "Climara Patch Protocol"--anyone else? I'm waiting to "peak" and then I'll start the patch 10 days later and start Antagon/Ganirelix the day after. Then after cycle day 2 and base u/s I'll start 300 units of Follistim then 4 vials of Menopur, eventually restarting Antagon/Ganirelix. I'm just curious if anyone else is doing any of the above and if their timing is close to mine? It would be neat to have a "buddy". Thanks, Kelly, for keeping me on your board :) Good luck everyone, Kris

 kris... that was EXACTLY the same protocol I used... even the dosages were the same (initially, they got modified slightly along the way, but not much)... my patch was a different brand/name that I can't recall, but it was an estrogen patch... I'm pregnant with twins (my results are below)... good luck :D

Suzanne, thanks for the reply--congrats on the huge success, I hope the protocol works as well for me! It's actually the same protocol I used last time and I responded well (13 eggs ret, 7 fert and 5 on ET) and I got pregnant with twins, but they didn't make it. I figure at this point it's all dependent on egg quality. I pray this batch is good. Best of luck :)

Biddy: Welcome to our site and good luck.

Kris: Good luck on your cycle.

Hil: Good luck on conceiving naturally. Let's hope for some more natural miracles.

Lynnie: How long do you have to wait for your results?

Ladies:

Andrew had his 2nd birthday party yesterday. He really enjoyed it and was quite overwhelmed by all of his presents.

I had an appt. on Friday with my OB/Gyn. She advised me that my chances of getting preggo naturally were VERY slim, due to my advanced maternal age. She recommended another IVF. First we are going to do another day 3 FSH. Last time it was around 7, so hopefully it is not too bad now. I am not totally opposed to another IVF, but I'm not sure that DH will want to go that route again.
With my last RE I had to drive 1.5 hours ONE WAY to go to his office. Every time I had to have an ultrasound or bloodwork it was a 3 hour drive roundtrip. My current RE is retiring. He has referred his patients to another RE. My Ob/GYN said that their office is currently working with this RE and will do all of the ultrasounds and bloodwork. I would only have to travel to the hospital for the ER and ET. This would make the IVF much more doable from a time standpoint. Of course there is also the additional cost (my insurance covers nothing). I was looking into doing PGD also if we decided to do another IVF. I'm not even sure that this RE would want to perform another IVF on me, as I turn the dreaded 45 at the end of April. Enough rambling...................any thoughts from you ladies would be appreciated.

Hello to everyone else.

Tammy: I know where ur at girl. I'm trying IVF for the first time also. I'm 43 and will be 44 April 29th. It's gonna be a long haul I can feel it. I'm waiting for AF so I can get get my third day us and bloowork. It seems AF is messing with me this month. I'm on day 23 and been just spotting, no full flow yet. Usually I'm right on the money, maybe the stress of all this has caused my AF to go crazy! I don't know what to do. Good luck and keep us posted!!!

Hi Ladies...

Great news, my Doc finally called, it was 3 hour drive to the clinic. the weather was horrible and the roads were crappy.

Wow, lots of action. You are busy for a bunch of old ladies. I will revise the list this week after the 2 betas are in. So Kat, i just edited you info. on the old list. I can't believe that everybody in the group is going to be back on the CRAZY TRAIN. What a bunch of addicts.

Kat, told you so. :P

Biddy, how many follies to you have cooking? How is this cycle working in comparison to your past ER?

Sisi, i know you are scheduled to start stims on 3/9 but do you have an ultrasound to check for cysts before then? If so, make sure you get a baseline follie count. I find it interesting to see how many follies people start with vs. how many follies they go into ER with vs. how many eggs retrieved. Everybody, but me that is, seems to have a lot of follies pop up that were not seen at their baseline scan and more eggs than predicted based on follie size at time of trigger. I am just one of those very lucky ladies that have neither. So if you end up being like me, just keep reminding yourself that quality not quantity is what matters in the end.

Lynnie, i am so glad the procedure went well. I didn't want to say anything before hand but my amnio hurt like HELL. I have a high pain tolerance too. I really think i was just a fluke though as most women say that it isn't bad at all.

nj, i am telling you, that insurance is a good enough reason to up and move to NJ. I have not heard of any other IVF coverage as good as that. You are so very, very lucky. Isn't that just like AF. You can't count on her to act right ever.

Kris, Woo Hoo!! So you will be starting stims this month too? That makes 3-4 of us starting stims this month. So you are doing antagonist with estrogen priming? That is what i am doing and several others have done or are doing. It works well. The good news is that you already know you body can do the pregnancy thing. Like you said, it is just a matter of finding one of that elusive "golden egg".

Tammy, i know as Andrew gets older your yearning for another is intensifying because i am right there with you. Liam will be 2 years and 4 months this week. Damn, i don't want him to grow up. He may be the only baby i ever have. I want it to last forever. I am crying just posting this.

Now to my thoughts on IVF at 44/45. If money is absolutely no object or you have insurance to cover it then i say go for it. You pay out of pocket, so is money a consideration? If so, here are some things to consider. You almost certainly will be unsuccessful with your own eggs. Then, are you going to go on to donor eggs? Donor eggs are not always a one shot deal either. With CGH they have determined that the majority of donor eggs are genetically abnormal too. Something like 60% are chromosomally abnormal and will not make a baby. So you may not be successful on your first shot with donor eggs either. That means it may take you 3 cycles before you have success. Are you up to that emotionally and finacially? Also, how much time do you want to spend on this? Do you have a preference on the spacing between children? If the sooner the better, then again i would suggest going straight to donor eggs.

I hope you know me well enough by now that you know i am just being honest. I am not trying to hurt you although i am sure i have. I am just being realistic. I know you have thought about adoption and donor eggs. In my opinion, donor eggs will probably give you a child faster, easier and probably cheaper than adoption. Just my 2 cents.

Again, good luck to Sue and Santa this week. FX for good solid betas for you both!!

Suzanne, i hope double and trouble are not sucking the life out of you.

Missy, how are your twins treating you? I know you have not had the US yet but that is my prediction.

Aloha Renne.

Waving hello to everybody and sorry if i missed anyone.

Kelly, I like your honesty. I have to agree that 44/45 is going to be tricky with your own eggs, but as everyone will tell you, it all depends on the individual.

I am supposed to wait until next Friday for my beta (actually my clinic asked me to do a HPT on that day) but I think I might try to POAS tonight. Is it way too early to have a reliable result?

Kat, that is fantastic result, I also transferred 3. Good luck on the 2WW.

Sue, any symptoms? I don't seem to have any, which I am a bit worried about.
