I was 12 weeks yesterday and when I woke up in the morning to go to the bathroom, I was bleeding, not spotting. My husband and I quickly drove to see my RE. Funny thing our last appt. with him was that morning. Anyway, he says he saw separation between the placenta and the uterus and put me on bed rest. He checked the cervix and we did an U/S. He said baby was fine and the separation was very small but bed rest would help it heal. Has anyone ever have this happen to them?
Another funny thing is I have my first OB/Gyn appt. the day before since I've been pregnant and she said since I've had a smooth first 12 weeks, I can start to do a little more than I was allowed to under my RE's supervision. My DH and I went home that evening and did nothing unusual, and wouldn't you know it, I bled the next morning.
Anyway, I have my appointment with my OB/ Gyn Monday afternoon but wondered if anyone can share the experiences with me to help me relax a little.
Thanks for anything you can share!

I had this happened@ 12 weeks ,bed rest-this is all they recommend ,hopefully the tear will not get bigger and won't form the blood clot.Insist on having u/s in a week or so to see if there is no clot(hematoma) behind the placenta.I'm seeing high risk doctors,so they do u/s every time I come in,but I know regular OBs are kinda greedy about u/s,so try to push it, if she doesn't want to order it. Good luck!

Marin_A... How long were you on bed rest? Do you remember how big your separation was? Were you able to resume to your normal activities afterwards? My RE says my separation is small (about 1.5 cm), but not sure how that compares to other women in the same situation. I'm seeing my OB/Gyn tomorrow afternoon and I believe I will be getting another U/S.
Thank you for any input. It helps me when I meet with her so I know what questions to ask.

Mine wasn't too big(I don't really know the size) and it just went away without clot or hematoma.I had red bleeding for 2 days and then it turned brown and just stopped in a week or so.I was laying down for about 3-4 days and then just took it easy-no lifting,no vacuming the house...Well,they told me take it easy anyway during the whole pregnancy,so I'm not supposed to do any house work that involves heavy lifting,...and just try to be carefull, think of yourself-you are the crystal vase ,let other people to take your chores, this pregnancy is very valuable to risk. And don't be shy to ask your doctor or insist on anything,it's your health and your precious baby.

I had a partial placenta abruption later in my pregnancy...starting around 6 months - 24 weeks. I was on strict bedrest (my specific instructions stated, "mandatory bedrest with bathroom priveleges" - ha!) until I delivered at 33 1/2 weeks. I had 3 seperate bleeding occasions with clots...it's so scary so I understand your fear.
My understanding was that bedrest is the only cure...oh, and I would ask because we were also told no sex.
Good luck and please let others help you during this period.
