I just got this in my email from Resolve....seems it's coming right back up on Monday. I don't see this bill going away.....I think I'm going to start researching the clinics in the state on the other side of me....I can't afford to pay for an IVF and only have 2 eggs fertilized, that's crazy. I know it's not my RE's fault....and I hate to leave them, I really feel comfortable there...but this law is CRUD and just not right.
Dear Georgia Residents,
RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association and The American Fertility Association are urging all Georgia residents to immediately send a letter to all Georgia Senators expressing your opposition to legislation pending in the Georgia Senate.
On March 5 the Senate Health and Human Services Committee heard passionate testimony from Georgians affected by infertility and their doctors, as well as professionals in the law and science fields on SB 169, a bill that would severely limit the practice of IVF and other life-affirming procedures in Georgia. On Thursday, March 5 following the open testimony, the Committee voted to send the bill to a sub-committee to allow for further review and careful study. However, since that time a substitute SB 169 bill has been circulated. Several provisions in the original bill have been removed but the substitute bill that is circulating continues to restrict the rights of infertility patients in Georgia.
We have information that the bill may be heard by the Committee on Monday, March 9 at 10:30 AM. At this time the Committee is scheduled to hear testimony on SB 204, a bill that regulates embryo donation and seeks to extend the definition of “child” to include an embryo. For information on the hearing, click here.
Due to the fluid nature of this process, we believe that further changes to these bills could occur. Our voice must be heard in this debate! At this time we do not have online access to the most current versions of these bills. Therefore, we are asking Georgia residents who care about open access to the world-class and ethical care that you have been accustomed to, to tell your Senators that enough is enough.
We want an open hearing, we want our voices heard, and we want to stop all attempts to limit our access to infertility care in Georgia.
We oppose SB 169 and SB 204!

If you can attend the Hearing on Monday we urge you to do so. Currently the hearing is scheduled for Monday, March 9th at 10:30 AM in Room 450 of the State Capitol. Please note that RESOLVE and The AFA cannot be responsible if the Committee hearing time changes.
We urge you to forward this email and this website link to your friends and family where they can easily take action themselves:

Thank you for taking action and making a difference in Georgia!
