Anyone in the process of Adoption, in the uk?

Hi, all
After many failed attempts at ICSI, my DH + I took 2yrs 'time out' from the process to assess what we were going to try next. We have both decided that we are not going to try ICSI anymore and have settled on Adoption. It has been a big step to take but we are both completely happy with the decision and are quite excited about the process.
Are any of you in the process of Adoption? We were on the waiting list a year and are now 4 wks into our Home study.
I would love to hear from anyone who is or has been on this route.

Hi Babyluv, thx for replying. My DH + I are going through the home study at the mo, infact we are nearly finished,then will be waiting to go in front of the panel. I'm not sure if its the same kind of process as u've been through as everywhere operates differently, but its all exciting stuff and we have enjoyed every minute of it upto now.
How old are you're children now and how old when they became yours?

Hi bobs -

My DS is 3 1/2 and we adopted him from Russia when he was 18 months. DD is 19 months and was 6 months when we brought her home from Kyrgyzstan. Both were really great ages and we'd do either one again. We are looking into starting the process for #3 and trying to figure out where to go, timing, special needs or healthy, etc.

We have homestudies here as well, but not a panel to go before (just court to complete the adoption). The process can be very emotional, but what isn't? It's very exciting.

Are you doing a domestic UK adoption, or going overseas?

Hi Babyluv,
Yes, we are doing a UK adoption. We have just received news from our Social Worker that we are set to go before the panel on the 23rd July.
We are in shock at how soon it has come round and are so excited

We have been told that at the moment there are lots of children coming up for adoption, so hopefully we won't be waiting long to find a match.
Although I believe, the best things in life are worth waiting for and we've definately been waiting along time to get to this stage.
You must be so proud of the 2 you have already got, best of luck in your wait for child no 3
