FIBROID TUMORS - PLEASE SEND HELP!

Post by Jeannie T »

Hi Everyone:

I'm new here and just got the devastating news from my OB/GYN that I have fibroid tumors (two of them at 3cm and 4cm) and that my uterus is LARGE. He doesn't know specifically what kind they are yet but I have gleaned from the internet that they are intramural tumors...what seem to be the worst case scenario.

ANy opinions/experiences on these things?

I am post-menopausal but take hormone replacement. My thought is thus: I do not NEED to take Lupron shots to try to decrease my fibroids as I can simply stop taking my estrogen and will create almost NO estrogen on my own (I know this from experience and lab work).

I don't know if all my information is correct and would really appreciate any help anyone can throw at me.

I'm depressed by the myomectomy option (being a nurse, I'm aware of the severe side effects that alone can create before and during a pregnancy) but I'm very confused about how long I have to wait until I can try to get pregnant, my OB/GYN said 1 to 1 1/2 years to wait for the uterus to heal - jesus that seems long! ONline, I read a doctor's note that said only 3 months.

Thank you all.

Thank you for your replies and email....your words meant so much to me.

I go to see an RE next week in Flagstaff and I am hoping for the best :) but expecting that honestly, anything can happen.

I am SOOOO happy I found this board. :)

I have had 2 fibroids removed over the years - the second was in between IVF treatments and I was worried what state my uterus would be in. I finally became pregnant through an FET (after a total of 7 embies transferred ) and my baby girl is 8 months (and right now crying loudly in the next room!). I had a trouble free pregnancy and the fibroid history had no impact at all.

Wishing you all the best.
