Well, I was in the St. Patrick's day spirit after prepearing my corned beef and cabbage dinner for tonight and wanted to send you all some love and good luck!

babyluv123- I also am considered obese, and I did not do anything special after transfer. I just stayed away from prohibited foods and didn't lift a thing, rested for the first day or 2 and drink lots of water and gatorade. I know ivf succes is higher if you are at a healthy weight, but it is not impossible for it to work if you are overweight, I am proof of that, and my RE never even took my weight or voiced any concerns about it.

Lee- I am sorry to hear that your other embie did not make it. I really do hope this works for you this time and I am sending boat loads of sticky dust you way. I can't believe your halfway there already!

Sisi- glad your u/s went well, and here's to hoping you really get to trigger this time.

hope- hello to you too! Isn't it amazing how close you end up feeling to all of the women here...I don't know what I would do without these boards.

lionoe- I have never heard of that study before, and I would definitely look into it before agreeing to anything.

Ok, gotta go do some house stuff and get ready for tutoring, I will catch up with you all later.

Thanks CT_Michele

Thanks for this. even my RE didnt ask about the weight . i asked him if he wanted me to loose some weight and then try for it. he said no its fine as far as my internal organs work fine :) after the 1st failed ICSI, i wanna take extra care. I work as well. Do you think it will affect the end result? Is there something that i need to take additional care about :?:

babyluv- I would just say even though sometimes it is impossible, try to stay as stress free and positive as possible. I also started taking pre-natal vitamins pretty early, just b/c I thought my body would benefit from the vitamins. And no caffeine. I hope this works for you this time. If you want to give me your dates (stim start, expected ER/ET) I will gladly add you to our list and we can all go through this journey together.

Just a note on HPT's for everyone- I was just reading the jan/feb/mar thread and someone over there has been taking hpt's for the few days leading up to beta, and they started faint and got darker and darker, so she thought she was pregnant, but then went for beta and they said it came back negative. She told them about the hpts, and they said they would re-do her beta, which I think will happen tomorrow. In the meantime, she tried a different brand from what she was using and it came out positive too. They think maybe a lab error the first time...so here is a situation where an hpt was good, b/c if she hadn't done it and they told her negative beta, she would have stopped all meds and thought it was over. It's the first time I have heard of this happening, and it is crazy to think their could be those kind of lab errors made.

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone!!

I was just reading "Candian Living" magazine and they have an article called "A Green Home is a Safe Home". I just wanted to quote this section for our consideration:

"The issue: Chemicals (other than phthalates) such as parabens in personal-care products; these chemicals are potential endocrine disrupters.

The solution:
*Don't dye your hair within the first three months of pregnancy. Though a recent review of medical literature showed that hair-dye products do not cause birth defects, anxious moms-to-be may want to be extra cautious..."

You may be able to check www.canadianliving.com to read more.

Hey Girls!
I did a POAS this AM and it was a BFN :(
I promised myself I wouldn't do one, and I caved. I'm so mad at myself for doing it too.
I still have a little hope that tomorrows blood test could still be positive, but for the most part my symptoms have gone away and I am just expecting bad news tomorrow. Luckily we got 11 frosties out of this cycle, so we will try FET as soon as RE says I can.
I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow. I would definately advise staying away from HPT's though, I really wish I hadn't done it. At least I would still have hope today :(
Take Care, Melanie

Hello ladies! DH and I have returned from the cottage in Devon and we had a fab weekend. We were so lucky with the weather - after a wet and rainy Thursday we had warm weather and some sunshine all weekend. Bliss! Everything seems much better when the sun comes out, don't you think? The downside of going away is the big pile of washing but the sun was out again today so I went on a 3 hour walk with a friend and our dogs (7 dogs in total, great fun!) instead.

So I go away for a few days and there are six pages of messages for me to catch up on when I get back - you ladies have all been busy bees!! A few personals (apologies if I've got anything confused and say the wrong thing for the wrong person!):

Kimbob - I have to start with you and say WOW your post with personals for all 25 of us (or however many there were then!) was AMAZING. I take my hat off to you, particularly on such an important day of your IVF cycle! Having said that, I totally agree with your suggestion that we should all post as much or as little as we want to, and that there is no need for anyone to feel that they must do personals. Like Michele, I tend to try and mention people who have posted since I last did a message (so a warning, because I've been away there are going to be a few on this message) - plus I don't work so unlike a lot of the ladies on here have the time to do it.

On other things, I was very amused at your description of your cervix with its supermodel good looks! And then I was so sorry to read about your horrid experience with the receptionist on the day of your transfer. Such an added stress for you and just at the time you needed it the least (for what it is worth, my vote would be to make a written complaint if only to try and stop it happening to another poor lady)! I'm not surprised you were in tears, I would have been too. I'm just so pleased for you that what she said turned out to be wrong and you were able to get two embryos transferred, just as you had hoped. Will be thinking of you in your 2ww!

Melanie - I'm so sorry to hear that your HPT showed a negative, but there is always hope. Just think of your sister in law who you told us got a positive beta, went home to do a HPT as a keepsake and got a negative!! And as Michele says, nothing is official until your beta. Let us know how you get on tomorrow, we will be thinking of you.

Dys - has AF showed her ugly face yet? Hope you had a lovely weekend with your Mum.

Latino - similarly, I think you are now finished with your BCP's. Any sign of AF? Not long until the stimming stage now!

statsgoddess - welcome to our lovely thread. You will love it here! I know exactly what you mean about it all seeming a little surreal, it feels exactly like that for me too! So AF has arrived, hurray! Do you have your schedule now?

aims - welcome as well, you've come to a good place. From what little I know, a slow and steady stimming phase is better because it produces better quality eggs, so I wouldn't worry at all that you are behind where you were day 9 of your last cycle. Did you have ER today? Fingers crossed for you, hope it went smoothly...

wmcgrathe - another new face, welcome! 23rd March isn't very far away now - how exciting!

Carolyn - another one waiting for AF! Has she arrived now? Hope so... It's all getting very close for you now - at what stage do you know the exact dates for Prague? Or do you already?

Trying for another Angel - what a great thing to take a month off to be able to focus on this process. I lost my job last July and haven't been able to find another one so I'm a housewife at the moment. Although I tell people I would rather be earning (which is correct), I secretly love being at home and there is no doubt that it is helping me to cope with the IVF. It will be so nice for you to be able to de-stress and really look after yourself through your cycle.

sbr - sorry to read about your headaches. I've been having some this week as well, no fun. Are you still suffering? In answer to your question, like Michele I'm going to be on the Crinene gel. From what I can gather, that seems to be a fairly normal thing for the UK.

hope2beamummy - how is the Syranel going? Nice to hear from you - boo for work taking you away, come back soon!!

Tabitha - hello! This is my first cycle so I can't answer your question about gonal-f but there are lots of ladies on here who are a fount of information!

Cynthia - how is your stimming going? I laughed at your comments on the recommended list of things to do - particularly in relation to the comment that you should be drinking 10-12 glasses of water a day and emptying your bladder every 2 hours. If I drink the recommended 2 litres of water a day I'm running to the toilet every half an hour!!

wishing4baby - another stimmer! How are you finding it? Do you have a firm ER date yet - are you still on for tomorrow? 10 follicles on each ovary sounds amazing!

Sisi - so pleased that your stimming is going well and that you didn't get cancelled! As you say, a few days seem to be able to make all the difference! Did you trigger today? Hope it comes soon so that you don't have to suffer any more with the constipation/headache/headcold...

Kline - pleased to hear that you are getting on OK with the spray. Have you had your withdrawal bleed now?

Sari - so baseline on Wednesday and AF has arrived, hooray! Let us know how you get on.

Michele - I was sorry to read that you were feeling sore after your operation and had that horrible upset stomach. I was so happy to read that the polyp came back 'normal' though. Hope you are feeling fighting fit now and ready to move onto the next stage! Thank goodness your MIL finally got transferred, what a relief for you and DH. So we should all be doing the AF dance for you now... And I LOVED the photo of Ella - so adorable.

babyluv - welcome. My, we've had a lot of new faces in the five days I've been away! From what I know, there is no different 'aftercare', as it were. I think the same applies to everyone - rest for a day or two after ET and then generally take it easy for the 2ww and no lifting, aerobic activity, caffeine or alcohol.

Lee - thinking of you in your 2ww, honey. Hope you are not climbing the walls! So are you planning to POAS or last it out?? P.S. I thought your hip hop AF dance was fab - my withdrawal bleed started full force that day so it definitely worked for me!!

Nicole - welcome back! So nice to hear your news, hope ET goes well tomorrow. So we will have another lady in the 2ww and officially PUPO, so exciting! I haven't heard of the study you mentioned, and like Michele I would be careful about agreeing to anything without doing a lot of research. My own personal opinion is that unless it would definitely not affect my chances of the IVF working (which by the very fact of it being a 'study', I imagine they can't promise) then I would not do it - I would just want to know, if I got the horrid BFN, that I had done everything I could to give my embryo/s the very best chance. Having said that, if the stipend would fund another round of IVF if it didn't work, then maybe I would consider it. Just my opinion!

AFM, I'm on day 13 of sniffing and I'm now getting a few more side effects. Hot flushes galore (I'm having one as I type!) and some headaches most days and it is making me feel very tired during the day, but overall nothing I can't cope with. Still another 16 days of sniffing to go until my baseline. I've had my withdrawal bleed now though, so I'm feeling happy that things are on track on that front.

Anyway, must go and cook some dinner for DH.

Take care everyone,
Hazel

Michele, that was me. Hi ladies. I thought I'd come post about it in this thread, if I could help anyone else, I would want to.

POAS can be very evil, and I swore I would not do so. But, that didn't last long. I did the first one last Thursday- faint positive.
Did one Saturday morning- darker positive.
Did one Monday morning, the day of my beta- positive.
Go for beta, they call that afternoon (this was yesterday) and it was my RE, and I could tell by the tone of her voice, something was wrong. She said I'm so sorry but the test was negative. She then said stop all meds, and wait for your period.

I finally choked out "I know you all told me not to, but I took three HPTs and they all showed positive. could they all be wrong?" She said she did not think so, and was glad that I did POAS. She instructs me to keep on the meds and come back in this morning for another test.

Dh and I go out and get two more tests, different brands. Both positive.

I repeated the beta this morning. They just called and it came back at 551.

My RE and her staff have been great. No one is sure what happened- they think that the test strip where they put my sample may have gotten a tiny air bubble, and if the machine detects that it spits out a negative. Or something like that.

It is a rare instance, and I don't want to mislead anyone, but this happened to me, and I wanted to share.

good luck to you all. baby dust to you all!

Hola Ladies!!!

I missed you all!!...I have a quite bitter sweet story, I got my beta positive, but low (17.89)on the 12th, my Dr. gave me hope, he said because is to close to the transfer and i was only 2 todays before my 4week lmp, it can be the embryo implanted just few days ago, so I had schedule an appointment for my 2nd beta today, but on Friday I started bad cramps and Sunday I spotted a little so on Monday I ran to the lab and I did my second beta (48.32) I called my Dr. and he saw me early today and did my 3rd beta (60.12), the embryo was growing but i still have the brown spotting, plus pain in my right pelvis and shoulder.. I have all the symptoms of the ectopic pregnancy, my Dr. didn't believe it until he send me to the radiology, and yes the radiologies saw in my right tub the embryo, Thanks that I don't have my right ovary so My Dr. can remove the tube with the embryo easy. My mom had a low blood pressure after this bad news.. I was ok because i was worry more about my left ovary...So I have 1 beautiful frost embryo that I'm planing to transfer on Summertime, also I ask my Dr. if i can thigh my left tube to lower the risk of another ectopic pregnancy...I will have the answer tomorrow...

Cheers Ladies... Hope is always around us...!!!

I had my ER today. The last u/s I had 18 follies but they only found 13 eggs. I'm not complaining though. That's still a good number. I will found tomorrow if all 13 were mature and how many fertilized. I'm still bloated after ER and I'm really sore. I keep telling my dh to quit making me laugh...it hurts!

I willl let you know what I find out tomorrow!
