The first time I go in the morning it's kind of a struggle, I know I have to go but it kind of just trickles out in small spurts? I guess I am still kind of swollen in down there? I am doing a day 5 , Wednesday transfer.

Liam's mommy - thanks for your explanation on estrogen priming (suzanne thanks for that tip). I am not on that protocol. I am on the bcp + nasal spray to down regulate and then it is straight into stims with 6mg of estrogen per day. This time I am also taking steroids - this is the only difference from my previous ivf.

In terms of your thoughts on the forum, yep, it is very big and it is hard to keep track of everyone, and I know that there is a core bunch who have really contributed and made this thread what it is but it is such a wealth of knowledge, experience and support that I am afraid that it will not start up the same....but I do know what you mean about it would be good for everyone to introduce one another,get to know once another etc so it may be that a new thread is the only way to do that. I am happy to try it out.

I am still on the bcp, starting the nasal spray next weekend so I am not in the thick of the scans etc yet.

Congrats on the 5 developers.. that is really great news.

With regards to the bladder thing - yes I get it. I also have a sensitive bladder and when anything done down there it gets 'shy' as they say.

I had huge fibroids removed in 2006 and my bladder refused to work on its own for a week so had to be catheterised each time - not fun..

It should pass within a day or 2..

nj- i have never heard of natural IVF...

Quick update on me.. after 21 eggs 17 mature 15 embryos.. i got 5 expanded blasts which we froze and are doing pgd.. i am so relieved i was afraid none owuld make it that far......

As for me, I did not take the Femara this cycle. DH had to have a prostate biopsy (luckily no cancer) and his swimmers are not quite back to normal. I am going to wait until my April cycle to take the Femara.

Suzanne: That is great to hear that your twins have strong heartbeats.

Natural IVF is when they take the one good egg that u would pass and implant that. It's done with no or little stims...It's way less expensive about $4000-$5000. Google "Natural IVF" if u want more info.

Sharon: Does your RE recommend natural IVF for you? How do we know if the one egg that we will pass a month is a "good egg"? According to my OB/GYN, only 10-30% of our eggs are genetically normal now. Going by stats, mine would be closer to the 10% since I'm almost 45. So if I use those stats, I may only have a good egg once or twice a year. I guess I should check out your link. My thoughts on using Femara would be to increase the number of eggs that I would get each month to help increase my odds of getting a "good egg".

Tammy..My RE mentioned it casually twice!! Next Monday we go for our meeting to discuss the protocal for this cycle. I've heard it said that most eggs created in conventional ivf are not viable anyway. But on the other hand I feel like I have more of a shot with the stims. They use natural ivf if the patient (like me) is older and a poor responder to stims. Also there is no 3 month wait between ivf cycles like the conventional ivf cycles. This is my first ivf so I don't know how i'll respond to stims. What if he suggests it for my first ivf cycle? I think I feel more comfortable with the conventional ivf.

I have to agree with Tammy, Sharon... in fact, I'd say that natural IVF is a more viable option for someone younger, than someone in our age group... it seems strange that he'd steer you away from conventional IVF because of the time factor, given you want to try first with your own eggs... as far as conventional IVF yielding poor eggs, I've never read that personally... in fact, I don't have the exact information available, but I recall my RE saying that the meds (or combo of meds) often helps to produce "heartier" eggs... my experience was such: retrieved (12), didn't fertilize (2), fertilized abnormally (1), fertilized normally (9)... of the (9) that fertilized normally, all were Grade A/1 with no fragmentation... (5) were transferred on day 3 and the remaining (4) made it to blast on day 5 and are frozen... I don't want him to waste valuable time for you and your DH!

Hi ladies,

Morning Kelly. The girls are doing great. growing and making themselves known to me everyday. we are now 22 weeks and I am seeing my peri every 2 weeks now with an U/S every visit. While on vacation last week I started bleeding and was taking to the hospital, peri said it was from all the walking we did and the girls and my placentas were just fine, but he did do a 4D US so DH and I were able to see their little faces. I cannot wait until I have my next 4D at 24 weeks.

I spend much time in bed making sure my cervix does not shorten, so far that is working. I am 3.7cm which my peri said is great for a single and amazing fro triplets..

Anyway ladies. I hope all continues to go well for everyone and all our hopes and dreams come true.

Tammy & Suzanne: I totally agree with the time factor. I don't have time to waste. I'm gonna tell him I want the conventional ivf if he recommends the natural. He is getting paid so he should use the method of which I choose. My last u/s showed 3 follies, so i'm thinking i'm going to produce a nice bunch with stims. Thanks!
