My clinic will be doing assisted hatching for me tomorrow. It is recommended for me as I am almost 42 and my eggs may be "hard" making it difficult for the egg to hatch. This supposedly makes it easier for the egg to implant in the lining.

Not sure if this was helpful but feel free to ask any questions.

Good luck!

We did AH on our third attempt which is the one that worked! I don't know if that's what did it, but it can't hurt. My RE said there was no risk involved although I have heard that their can be risk to the embryos. Good Luck

Only risk my RE mentioned was higher occurence of identical twins. I've had 2 BFPs, one with AH and one without so I can't say how beneficial it is.

We are also doing AH along with ICSI. I also heard the main risk for AH is having identical twins. This will be my first IVF as well. What day is your transfer? I just started my stims a couple days ago. We are hoping if all goes well to be doing the ER next friday.
Best of luck!

AH is recommended for older moms, poor egg quality, multiple failed IVF cycles, or PCOS women. I had 3 cycles without AH and the forth with. The forth one worked. I am getting ready to do an FET in April and we will be hatching the frosties again.
IVF/ICSI 3/07 Froze All 36 eggs
FET 5/07 BFP; DD born early (26 weeks) 10/07
IVF/ICSI 8/09 Froze all 30 eggs
FET 11/09 BFP! TWINS from just 1 frostie! YIKES.
20 Frosties left
