Does anyone have experience with a vanishing twin or at your U/S seeing one sac that is much smaller than the other? That is what happened to me on Monday.. they were even hesitant to say it was a 2nd sac as it was about half the size as the 1st and want me to come back next week. My HCG levels were off the charts so I am pretty convinced that it is a 2nd sac.... any feedback would be helpful.. thanks ladies
At my first ultrasound last week, I had three sacs, all different sizes. Only one of them had a yolk sac visible. One sac was much smaller than the other two and the tech seemed convinced it could not be a gestational sac but that the other middle sized one could be. My levels were also through the roof so I'm not sure what is happening. My first beta 10dpt a 5dt was 621. What were your levels?
I guess we just need to wait and see. My levels were 835 at 14 dpt a 4dt... Then 3 days later it was over 3000 and 3 days later it was over 7000. How many did you transfer?
Last fall, I was pregnant with twins. At first, it did take lots of adjustments of the U/S wand to see both and even then, it was usu. 1 at a time. We heard the heartbeats and everything. Then at just under 8 weeks, one of the hearts stopped beating. Of course, we were devastated. The dr. said this happens to IVF twins about 30% of the time. I’m not trying to be a downer – but I just wanted to say it’s common that both don’t survive so don’t beat yourself up.
The really good news is with those numbers you are most definitely pregnant.

9/21/09 She's here! born 5 weeks early, 4lb. 6 oz., 17-1/2 in.
At our second ultrasound at 6 weeks, we confirmed being pregnant with twins and saw both heartbeats, but then at my third ultrasound at 7w4d, one of the heartbeats had stopped and we just have one baby remaining.
My first IVF we transfered 2 embies and dr confirmed only one sac at 6 weeks. later in that week i started bleeding so went in for another U/S and they found a second sac both with heartbeats. at about 8 1/2 weeks went back for another u/s and one heart stopped beating so they called it a vanishing twin. i eneded up with one very healthy boy..... good luck to you!

My first IVF pregnancy I had twins and lost the heart beat at about 9 weeks and My Wonderful daughter was born at 35 weeks. This one is my 6th cycle was a FET and I had twins again but lost one at about 10 - 11 weeks and so far everything looks great on ultrasound with my pregnancy.
So this has happened to me twice. I also had a triplet pregnancy that I lost one at 6 weeks, one at 8 weeks and the last was lost at 10 weeks so I didn't have a live birth with that one.
I thank GOD for giving me the children that I do have.
