Wondercat:
Thanks for your feedback.
What weeks are you scheduled for ultrasounds?
Mine is week 6,8,10.
Actually, I will be going week 7 also because of my miscarriage of twin B or C.

Nancy - I am getting the feeling that my doctor's office is way more relaxed than many others about follow-up after the IVF. They only wanted two blood tests at 14dpt and 16dpt just to make sure it was positive and increasing properly. I had one ultrasound at exactly 6 weeks on 3/18. The next one was scheduled for 8 weeks, but I did it yesterday at 7 because of the bleeding I had over the weekend. Since everything looked fine they said I should follow up with my regular doctor from here on out.

I feel like a lot of other people have mentioned multiple HCG tests, progesterone level screening, and more ultrasounds. Not that I'm complaining, it takes me about 2 hours to get to the clinic so I am looking forward to no more long drives into Boston!

I know what you mean. I only had one blood test for my pregancy and since my beta was over 200, they said I didn't need another one.
It's interesting how different clinics have diferrent protocols...

How much bleeding did you have, if you don't mind me asking. Was it just spotting or heavier than that, and were you put on bedrest?

Hi Ladies,

I'm anxiously awaiting your ultrasound results today: Char? Sue? Aeb? I hope it's nothing but good news!

Nancy: I've only ever been on the vaginal progesterone suppositories 3 times a day. No PIO for me.

Excited: you have every right to mourn the loss of your baby. I think it's perfectly normal to have mixed emotions in this case, sad for the one you lost and happy for the one you have growing. Take care of yourself!

Wondercat: your post about the MD was incredible. Talk about arrogance and condescension! You are so right about being your own advocate-- Physicians are not gods: they make mistakes! Good for you for taking on that role.

AFM- went to a Journey concert last night with DH and had a great time. I was pretty tired by the end of the show, (God forbid I stay up past 10pm these days. ) Still craving beef like crazy. DH loves this too, more excuse for HIM to eat steak and hamburger! Feel a little dizzy most days-- kind of like trying to walk on a boat-- anyone else have this? Not much nausea, knock on wood!![/b]

Wondercat:

I agree with the last post. While doctors are human beings and do mistakes at times, being condescending like that, especially not having bothered to check your test results is infuirating.
You are to be commended for having done your own research on the matter!!!!

Hello, Ladies. I had my third ultrasound today at 7w4d and we learned that we lost one of our twins. I of course knew that the possibility of this happening was there, but it's still disheartening. The remaining baby is doing well. It's measuring on target and the heartbeat was 155. We just hope and pray that it continues to do well and we ultimately end up with a healthy, strong baby.

Charr,
so sorry about losing one of your twins. A 155 heartbeat is strong so hang in there and I'm sure everything will be fine.

Nancy,
I only had 2 blood tests/betas and now I'm waiting for my 1st ultrasound. I am on progesterone shots (with Estradiol twice a week) and oral prometrium pills and baby aspirin supposedly until week 12. I don't know why there is such a difference with doctors offices. My butt sure could use a break, but at least this time I am actually pregnant and feel like the shots are for a reason.

My first ultrasound is on Monday - I will be 6 weeks, 6 days along. This has been torture waiting so long. I have been spotting off and on and trying not to worry. I've been getting slight dizziness or motion sickness at night, but that's about it.

Again, thank you all for sharing your stories and concerns.

Charr: I'm so sorry!!!!! I'm glad that you still have a healthy, thriving baby, but I'm so sad for the loss of the other one. :(

Cristi: Glad to hear that I'm not the only dizzy one! Best of luck on Monday, I know the waiting is so hard.

We just saw the heartbeat! I am soooooo relieved. Im sort of still in shock cause Im so used to getting bad news in the baby department. But it is all good! The baby is measuring right on track and I am 7 weeks 4 days today--my due date is Nov 9. Hooray!

Char~I am so sorry about one of your babies. A big hug for you--I know I would be heartbroken too. But I am so happy to hear your other baby is doing fine. I think maybe you and I are on the same schedule--is your due date Nov 9?

Nancy~They took me off progesterone in week 5 cause my body is apparently producing tons on its own. I never took the shots--I was always on pessiaries. I had four beta tests but only the one ultrasound at 7.5 weeks--now I am released from my fertility clinic! It's on to my midwife for me--midwifes deliver babies here in New Zealand.

Christi~I am getting dizzy too--especially if I stand up quickly after lying on the couch. I know the wait for the US is torture--I made myself crazy. My advice is to not Google too much as it fills your head with all kinds of horible scenarios. Try to distract your self as much as possible.

Wondercat~That is just so crazy what happened to your poor DH and the idiot Dr. He is lucky that he has such a smart and savvy wife!

NusreGator~Im glad you enjoyed the Journey concert! i wonder if your twins will be Journey fans since it's their first concert!

Hi ladies,

thank you all for sharing the info regarding the progesterone.

Charr:
sorry about the loss of one of the twins. I went through it myself this past Monday. Though it doesn't make me forget the loss, I am trying to keep positive for the one (or ones) still alive.

Christi:
Best of Luck on your u/s on MOnday. Don't worry about the spotting too much. My OB said spotting during IVF is very common.

Sue:
COngrats on the heartbeat and best of luck to you!

I have been feeling a bit dizzy too this week. It is normal for the blood presure to be lower than before, thus causing the dizziness.

Take ccare ladies,
Nancy

nursegator - No dizziness so far. Just constant, all-day nausea. Smells set me off, and I even get car sick when I drive myself. My mother has taken great delight in reminding me that she was nauseous with me for the full 9 months. Eep!

charr - I'm so sorry to hear about losing one twin. We had two implanted and it was hard enough knowing that one didn't take at all. The heartbeat on your remaining baby sounds great, though, so try to focus on being happy about that!

cristi262 - I still think the wait for the u/s was much worse than the wait for the beta. Probably because I'm one of those "seeing is believing" kind of people! Believe me, I hear you on worrying with the spotting. I completely freaked when I had my bleeding on Sunday - and everything was fine, so all my worry was for nothing. That said, it just means I have first-hand knowledge that my telling you not to worry is not going to make you stop worrying. The best you can do is try to keep busy and not think about it too much.

SueQiwi - Yay! I'm so glad you had a great first u/s - I know how worried you were about it. It's funny, I'm 7 weeks 2 days today, but my doctors office somehow has my due date set for Nov. 10. The online calculator gave me Nov. 11. I'm more of a fan of 11/11 as a propitious day, so that's what I tell people who ask. :)

nancy1 - My only side effect so far of the lower blood pressure is that my nose will not stop running. I'm usually congested from allergies, and instead now I have a constant flow. Ugh.

Hi ladies, I was wondering if I could join in here. I am a few weeks behind all of you, but I will be due in November. The online thingy says November 23. My ER was 3/2 and my ET was 3/7.

First beta was 551, second beta was 3666. I had an early u/s yesterday, because I've had an ectopic in the past. So she did one at 5 weeks 3days to make sure it was in the uterus, and it was. Phew.

She saw one for sure.......and possibly another one, but it didn't really look like it.

My first "official" u/s is next Friday April 3. My RE is hoping to hear the heartbeat then. I'm so nervous about something going wrong.

So far, I've had no spotting. I've had some mild cramping, dizziness, and I'm ready for a nap around 3 everyday, which sucks since I'm at work then! I am on PIO every night, endometrium suppositories, and estradiol 2x a day.

Hello to all, I recognize a few of you from the jan/feb/mar thread.

charr, I'm sorry for your loss. But your remaining baby sounds strong.

sure, congrats on the heartbeat, HOORAY!

wondercat, glad that things are okay with you!

Wondercat,
You just made me realize why I feel so dizzy and yucky when I get home from work - the 25-mile drive is making me car sick too! I thought that was just my time to be sick, but now I'm convinced it's the drive. I feel fine walking out to my car. Also, I have been having a crazy runny nose for the last 2 weeks where I'm running to find a tissue without a warning.

About the wait for the 1st ultrasound, thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. I will keep busy and not worry as much as possible. My husband and I have a running joke now where we say to each other "tick, tock" is the slowest possible way. Time is just standing still!

Welcome Spot of Tea - I love tea myself! Glad you had a good ultrasound yesterday. I'm sure you are super relieved. Congrats on the high Betas too!

Thanks for all of the support, ladies!

Welcome, aspotoftea! Glad to have you aboard.

Cristi - Good luck with your u/s Monday. Keep us posted.

Sue - I'm told my due date is Nov. 8. We're definitely both at about the exact same place. I had my retrieval 2/15/09 and transfer 2/20/09.

Hi Ladies,

I have been MIA for a few days but I haven't been having very good days. Things are not looking too good for me. I starting bleeding on Wednesday so they moved my U/S to Thursday. When I went in I honestly had prepared myself for the worst. However, the baby was still there and had grown but unfortunately the hb dropped from 96 to 82 so at this point there is not too much hope. The doctor is going to continue to monitor it so I have another U/S on Monday. He stated that at this point we are likely just waiting for it to take its course. I am really sad about all of this but have decided to stay in a happy place. I am ready to move forward and try again if this ends the way it seems it will. Thank you all for you thoughts, prayers and kind words. I will continue to keep you posted but I doubt expect the news to get any better.

I am so happy for everyone who has gotten their positive U/S results.
