How quick to start again?

Post by jane »

I would really like some advice.
I have just had a failed ivf cycle. I want to start a FET straight away (as I have been lucky to have 6 frosties).
However I spoke to the clinic today and the consultant will not see me for 6 weeks. I asked why and apparently this is a blanket policy, as he wants couples to have got over the upset of a failed go (and believe it or not the nurse said he doesn't like people to cry in the appointment!!!!).
This means that 6 weeks to see consultant, a month for af to arrive, then the treatment and 2ww. This will be several months.
Has anyone else gone straight into a FET? Has your clinic not seen you for 6 weeks after a failed attempt? Doesn't Prof winston say the sooner the better?
I have so many questions that how dare he say wait 6 weeks after I've just paid nearly £4000.00. I'm even paying £100.00 for the appointment.
i am aware I am ranting and I'm sorry, but the thing that keeps me going is getting on with another cycle, and I can't belive they are making me wait.

Hi SophieJane....sorry it sounds like a huge waiting period, it does seem a bit excessive to have to wait that long...it also sounds like a neat way to space clients out.

I've not had experience of going from ivf to fet, just fet to fet so can't help you with that but am sure someone on here knows. He 'doesn't like people to cry in the apts' ??? HELLO! get another freakin' job!!! It's an extremely emotional field of medicine, I cried today and I must admit my Dr. looked damned uncomfortable too. If I'm being kind, I suspect they might feel a degree of responsbility for our anguish after a failed tmt.

Glad to hear you're back in the saddle (so to speak!!)
love
Debra.

HI JANE,AFTER MY FIRST FAILED IVF,I ALSO HAD TO WAIT 6 WEEKS FOR MY NEXT APP,THIS WAS MAINLY TO GET THE DRUGS OUT OF MY SYSTEM AND I HAD TO HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF AF`S.IT SEEMED LIKE A LIFETIME WHEN THEY FIRST SAID AND I WAS GUTTED AND REALLY SAD AS I NEEDED TO GET STRAIGHT BACK IN.
BUT THE TIME REALLY PASSED QUICKLY,AND AT MY 6 WEEK APP I GOT BOOKED STRAIGHT IN FOR MY SECOND GO.
I HOPE EVERYTHING WORKS OUT FOR YOU.TAKE CARE.LOVE LOOPY, :)

Hi Jane

have replied on your FCB thread as did not see this one til after...DOH!!

Like Loopy says, you need to get the drugs out of your system first.....you would never forgive yourself if you went too soon and did not respond to tmt cos your body was not ready...........

Its really hard I know, Ive been there and the waiting is the worst.........
Your not alone............try and be patient and spend the time wisely getting yourself in tip top condition so that when you go again your body is ripe and ready!!

Take care

Hi sophie jane,

I've got to wait 5 weeks before i get to see the doc about my frosties too, but i remember him telling me that thay like you to have two more af after the failed IVF (so 3 in total) to get all the drugs out of your system and allow your body to get back to normal after all the stimulation before they'll let you have the next go.

I must sound very negative in my appointments as i'm always asking about what happens next if things don't work
