Hi Carolyn,
any news yet from your donor? Do hope she has lots of nice follies growing! When do you go for your lining scan? Has the clinic given you an estimated schedule for ER/ET? You must be getting very excited! Can't wait for your update.

Hi Kelly,
Sounds like you guys had lots of fun in the sun! How was that to travel with 2 little ones? Did you fly or drive? Thanks for all of your support and encouragement! Yes, you are absolutely right, it is really amazing to see that little one develop. Incredible changes in just the span of 2 weeks...

big hello to chriss, luanne & jenb!

Have a great week and I'll be checking in to see how things are going with carolyn!

xx summer

Hi guys,
I hope that you all don't mine me butting in  I have been reading through this thread and feel so encouraged. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby so long it is hard to count. Long story short I had one BFP that lasted to 15 weeks but then end in a miscarriage :( . So at 36 i just have crappy eggs, and my husband has crappy sperm (we have been doing donor sperm for a while now) and now we are embarking with a donor eggs, we picked our donor (my clinic has a donor program) she is 23 and is a mother we just sent her for her psychological exam and then she gets her blood work and start her stimming we are looking at a possible transfer end of May or begining of June. Reading all your posts made me not so alone. BTW congrads Summer on the BFP!

hi carolyn, fantastic --- will be thinking about you on Friday and your donor on Saturday! Looking very good for a transfer just before next weekend, I would guess. Don't be nervous, it is really a piece of cake. I was so relaxed at the transfer, I was just somehow certain it would work? I even chatted the entire resting hour with another woman from holland -- then spent the rest of the day lounging around the hotel room, before flying back the next day. You will do just fine! Sending some baby dust and PMA your way!!
You should also think about stocking up on progesterone and estrogen to last you till your test while you are there, it is probably cheaper than what you might pay in England (at least it was cheaper compared to what I pay in Germany). My clinic had a pharmacy on site, I am sure yours does too.

My symptoms seem to vary from week to week/day to day! At first, I was feeling pretty sick, but that subsided when I realized that if I keep eating a little something every few hours, it wasn't so bad. I have become very sensitive to smells and sometimes have a hard time cooking...BBs are sore/tender. I have been dog-tired, but that seems to be easing up a bit (especially if I find the time to nap in the afternoon!). My clothes are getting tighter and my bras smaller -- but lots of things are still wearable... I still feel some twinges and cramps, which I think are growing pains --
Then some days, I don't feel anything at all and I am so nervous that it is all over -- But, I think that is pretty normal given our circumstances and I just try to hope for the best and think positive and try to feel grateful that I have gotten this far. Today, I am 10 weeks --

Welcome poohgirl! My donor also has 2 children, which they seem to see as a good sign in a donor. Have you seen what she looks like? I only got a description.
Welcome to our group and looking forward to cheering you on!

Hi to JenB, kelly and chriss!

Looking forward to when we are all pregnant egg-heads and egg-head mothers!

The sun is finally shining here and temperature-wise, it almost feels like spring is in the air....finally!

Thanks guys:-)

My donor is a first time donor but already has a 2 year old child my RE said she doesn't see too much difference between "proven" and 'non proven" donors and thought that because she had a child was a good sign. I got to read her profile and it had some baby pictures but it is considered anyumous (sp) so that is all i get to see. I am actually okay I think the less I know about her the better I feel, silly I suppose. After reading this board all weekend I feel kinda of lucky to be here in the US since all I had to do is pick a donor from the ones we have and don't have to worry about travel ect. But it is so pricey this will be our last fresh shot so I am hoping for some frozen embies, looks like here they let the donor grown more eggs, we are expect 10+. It nice to be part of a group who knows what I am going through!!

Good Luck Carolyn sounds like you are next up!!
Summer enjoy this you deserve it!!!

Hello PoohGirl - Good luck on your treatment. Your chances are very good because DE are so strong & healthy because of the donor's youth. Remember, mother nature has not even come close to catching up to today's world in which women don't necessarily reproduce before they reach their 20's. Oh well...Once that little embryo settles in & makes his/her/their home in your womb, it will be your baby/ies. Period. Your maternal instincts will kick in & you will become fiercely protective. My babies are so perfect I would not change a thing! I agree w/Summerbaby about having a good feeling going in to the ET & somehow knew this was my time & it was. I too rested in the hotel room the rmdr of the day & let DH bring back take-out for dinner. Not only that, despite DH not wanting me to do so, I took one of those evil HPT's & got a BFP 4dp5dt. I probably took about 100 more after that because it was so fun to POAS & get a BFP after all those BFN's. LOL

Hi ladies

Poohgirl - I don't think it matters if proven or not - if she has child already she obv does not have IF issues - June will be here before you know it. All i got to know about my donor was her age, height, weight, blood group and that she is univerdsity educated - no picture but I am happy with that as could not do with her face popping in my head everytime I looked at my baby - notice the PMA

Summer - ooo sounds as though your ticking along nicely - can't believe your 10 weeks already - where has the time gone ??? have you told anyone yet? - do you plan to find out what your having ?? Think I already have enough progesterone and estrogen to last till test - are you still taking progesterone?? Are you staring to get a belly yet ?

Chris - hows you honey - taken any up any new activities recently - you always seem to be tryong something new!!

Kelly - ooo Florida how lovely - how was the travel with the twins - can't believe there 6 months already - bet they are developing in to right little characters?? - you are soo good still finding the time to come and cheer us egg heads on !

Luanne - great to hear another mummy from ED ? - where did you have your treatment and how many embies did you transfer??

Jen - how are you honey ?

Had phone call from my local clinic today giving me time for lining scan on friday and then just a matter of waiting till saturday - accupuncture in the morning so hopefully that will relax me a little

take care eggheads

HELLO CAROLYN - I DID MY TMT @ SHADY GROVE IN D.C. DH & I INITIALLY HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE W/A LOCAL CLINIC SO DECIDED TO DO A LOT OF HOMEWORK B4 CONTINUING TMT. WE CHECKED OUT CLINICS ALL OVER THE U.S. & A FEW BEYOND. (SAN FRANCISCO, ST. LOUIS, LOUISVILLE, CHICAGO, INDPLS, & MORE) WE FINALLY WENT WITH SHADY GROVE FOR A DOZEN REASONS. #1 BEING THEY HAVE EXCELLENT SUCCESS RATES BUT THAT'S A GIVEN, HUH? WE FELT CONFIDENT IN THEIR ABILITIES & THEY HAVE A ZILLION DIFFERENT OPTIONS FOR TREATMENT, WHICH THEY WILL BACK UP W/A MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. HOW COULD WE LOSE? WE KNEW WE WOULD EITHER BRING HOME A BABY/IES OR GET OUR MONEY BACK. THEY HAVE A TEAM OF OVER 20 EMBRYOLOGISTS & VERY SPECIFIC PROCEDURES THEY FOLLOW EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. I FEEL CERTAIN SO MUCH OF THE SUCCESS CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO WHAT GOES ON IN THE LAB. THE STAFF OF DOCTORS IS OVER 20 AS WELL & THEY CONSULT W/ONE ANOTHER RE PROTOCOLS & TREATMENT METHODS ESP. W/DIFFICULT CASES SO IT IS LIKE HAVING AN ENTIRE PANEL OF DOCTORS TREAT YOU. I CHOSE A PLAN IN WHICH I WAS ALLOWED TO PURSUE 6 FRESH ED CYCLES & ALL ASSOCIATED FROZEN TRANSFERS FOR ONE PRICE. PERIOD & I SPLIT THE COST W/A SECOND COUPLE THAT USED THE SAME DONOR. (THEY EVEN HAVE DONORS THEY USE FOR 3-WAY SPLITS WHICH IS EVEN CHEAPER) THE ONLY 2 THINGS NOT INCLUDED ARE:
1.)LOCAL MONITORING BECAUSE IT'S INCLUDED IN THEIR PRICE, BUT THEY GIVE A PRORATED REFUND CREDIT FOR THAT &...
2.)MY OWN MEDS WHICH HAPPENED TO BE COVERED BY MY INSURANCE.
EVERYTHING ELSE IS COVERED. PERIOD. EVERYTHING. HARD TO BELIEVE BUT THEY ARE GOOD & APPARENTLY THEY DON'T GIVE MANY REFUNDS. I GOT PREGNANT W/TWINS ON THE FIRST CYCLE/FRESH ET.

Hello, Its Jules, here.

Thanks for the lead on where to read about other people in the same situation, and to get information.

Here's a little bit about me,

My Partner Dave and I had been trying on our for 4.5 years approx, no luck due to me having irregular periods (TOM - Time of the month) etc, Been on IVF waiting list for 2.5 years and eventually last October was informed that we had finally reached the top... (were excited to actually find the top). Took tablets in January to start of my cycle and went for scan and bloods, Scan revealed that we only had 5 follicles and that they wouldn't treat until you had 8 or more. Also has blood test taken called AMH, its fairly new and basically it predicts how many eggs a woman has left. Was told to come in for more scans next month or when my cycle appeared again. We are really pleased when we had a natural TOM, had scan which revealed 9 follicles but apparently the consultant had requested that we didn't start treatment until we had seen her, disappointed we asked the nurses why and they said it was due to a low AMH result, she redid the AMH test and we were to wait to see our consultant, Went last friday (27th march), to be told that it was unlikely that I had any eggs left and that I had gone in to Premature menopause (eggs only)and that our only option to have a child would be by egg donation or adopt etc.

As you can imagine how devastated my partner and I are and now looking, searching for any help and information of how we find an egg donor, because our consultant said there weren't many eggs available due to legalisation.

My Partner Dave is 36 and I am 33years old, we live in Macclesfield in Cheshire.

Ofcourse we would be grateful for any help and ofcourse I would love to talk to anyone who needs a friend as much as I do!

Love Jules xx

getting closer, carolyn! Does your acupuncturist know about your tmt and is doing specific things to get you ready, or are you focusing on the relaxation aspect? Time does fly, you will soon see!
To answer your questions, I am taking all my meds till the end of the 12th week. We have only told immediate family, as my doctor advised us to wait a bit before spreading the word, as anything can still happen at this point. My DH wants to wait to find out what we are having and I have said okay to that  -- I'd like to know, but it is really fine to have at least one surprise. Right now we are trying to just enjoy this time and take things week by week, appt by appt....
Will be thinking of you on Friday! Sending you more PMA your way! :D

poohgirl - I think that is great that you can stay at your home clinic for your DE tmt! I live in Germany and had tmt in Austria, and DE is not allowed in either country, so we had no choice and had to travel to make our wish come true. I think you will likely get frosties. We still have 3, which actually made me more relaxed, because I never had any using my own eggs and took that as a good sign. Best of luck to you!!

LuAnne - believe it or not, but I still carry my last + HPT in my purse as my good luck charm. Dumb, I know - but I like having it.

chriss - I hope to hear from you soon that you guys have a donor! The waiting is a real mess, especially with stuff going on here. I have a good feeling that you will soon be in the middle of all the action yourself. Do know that I am thinking about you. Take good care of yourself!

JenB - was your time frame something given to you by the clinic, or did you have some influence?

Enjoy the rest of your week. Hope the sun is shining in your neck of the woods today!

Hi Jules,

we must have posted at the same time - Just wanted to welcome you to our thread! What a roller coaster you have already been on before even having the chance to start.

I had 3 tries with ivf, all negative. My RE said that due to my age, we would have a much better chance at this point if we tried DE. I live in Germany and we had a successful transfer using DE in Prague.

Hoping that via this forum that you get the answers to your questions and can move forward on your journey. It isn't always an easy decision to make to go with DE and I wish you all the best as you figure things out.

Jules--Welcome I am so glad you found this thread I remember you from the egg donor thread so I am glad you found this thread. If you haven't already I suggest reading this from the beginning it will give you tons of information the first page about light switches (trust me it will make sense when you read it :D ).

Summer I have been to germany my husband speaks german fluently and we loved it. What part do you live in?

Carolyn---how are you feeling? I am just on birth control and it makes me a little nutty so I can image you with the estrogen how you must be feeling.

My husband Mike made a great point yesterday, he mentioned that if I did have my own baby and it got switched at the hospital and I found out later would we love the baby we got any less?? And of course the answer would be no, I just want to be a mother and I could care less whose eggs they came from.

Jules - not sure whether first it is worth contacting another clinic - we were not lucky enough to qualify for NHS treatment - due to age and for firts treatment at 38 my BMI was too high - we paid for both ours and on my first cycle I only produced 3 eggs - all of which fertlised but BFN, next cycel I lost 4 stone and produced 6 eggs all of which fertlised but still a big BNF and none lasted to freeze. I think the clinics vary on the number of eggs you have to produce before they will do egg retrieval but think 7 is very much on the high side - maybe cos its NHS - have read lots on the boards where ladies have had Egg retrieval with less than 7. May be worth checking out Fertility friends website as that is more UK based and has threads for diffrent clinics - also read the beginning of this board if the egg donor route is the one you choose it will really help you come to terms and think differently about ED - hugs to you both ((()))

Poohgirl - Feeling fine - only side effect is can't stop eating  - don't appear at moment to be too hormonal althogh DH may tell you differently. BCP seem to last forever - I struggled with taking them as it just seems so odd that TTC and taking them  - your time is just round the corner x

Summer - yes accupuncture is purely for treatment - she specialised in infertility accupuncture - currently treating 4 of us TTC - and so far 3 of the 4 got there BFP... fingers crossed for 4 out of 5 :D :D

Chris/Kelly/ Jen - hugs to ya

Luanne - thanks for the info - sounds like yopu had such a positive experience - did you have frosties leftover?

Got to get ready for work

catch you all later xxx
