Hi Girls,

My last day at work is this Friday! Yay!! I am so excited to have three weeks off (hopefully) before the baby arrives. I am going to take it easy, watch some movies on DVD, create albums for my kids etc... I will make sure I won't do too much because that is what I tend to do once on Mat leave (and end up delivering early).

I did the Strep B cultrue test yesterday. With Sean I was positive and with twins negative so who knows what I am going to have this time around. No ultrasound is scheduled (guess that's a good thing) so I won't know how big the baby is etc... All I know is that she is very very active and she still can turn around if she wants to due to my stretched out uterus and muscle. I bet she's getting tons of work out in there compared to other babies as she has more room to move. :P

Suga -- will check the houses you went to see later. I wish I were buying a house now. The prices are so attractive! But it seems that I will have a hard time selling our existing house. My kiddoes wake up early, too, and cry sometimes. I just let them be and they normally make it till 7:30 the earliest. You are doing the right thing!

Courtney -- Yay, for BOB! 20% off is really good considering it's $500 plus! Which color are you getting? As exhausted as you are (I imagine), good on you for joining a gym! As Suga said, you look plenty slim from the blog photos but I know working out gives you more energy. Nice to get out of the house, too! I am looking forward to getting my body back in shape, but I know after having four kids it's not that easy. I so need vacation and looking forward to summer when we go to Idaho.

Kimberly -- FB is quite dangerous! But I love it because it's so easy to get in touch with people. I can just drop a line to any one of my friends casually and that saves me a lot of times in a way. Of course, I do spend too much time on it no doubt! How is little Annelise doing? Hope she feels better soon.

Buckeye -- I did take a photo of me with my belly. I will post it on my blog and let you know. It seems that I only gained 20 lbs so far. I feel humongus though and feel like gained 50. How's your spring break going? Must be nice to take a full week off!

Hope Sara's twins are letting her sleep more! Aly and Noah have cold and keeping us awake at night so I understand what you gals are going through.

Well, I need to get back to work now!

Take care! Kimi

Hi ladies,
I have been reading your thread for a long toime (since we knew we were having twinsd)h and have been rooting for you, especiallyy twinmommy with your little ones.
We had Amy and Christopher March the 4th, so they are 1 month old tomorrow. I've been on the feb 09 thread. As I type this one handed I have a pump on the girls, and 1 baby sleeping in their car seat, one on the boppy, and my DH who just lost it finally after a month of no sleep along with me. I was reaally hoping that you could give me some advice on how to get them tio sleep between feeds, annd some reassurance that it dioes get better. I feel like I am going somewhat mad - they both are some fussy, but of course if one is sleeping, generally the other fusses, and vice versa, when they do both sleep there is so much to get done!
Please help! How did yoiu ladies do it, and any good tips/books/websites....
Sorry to crash in on your thread, I hpe ytou dont mind - and the backspace key isnt working, so sorry for all the typos.

Jude7702: Oh how you sound like I did :D It does get better I can promise that!! New challenges will arise but it does get "easier." I would say the first 3 months are the hardest? Others may say different though. First off, were they preemie? If so, that makes it all the harder! If not though, then it may not take you 3 months to get your life back! Congrats on getting this far though!!! And you are welcome here any time! Come join us!

I do BabyWise. I did it from the time they got home from the NICU. I do somewhat my own version but it has worked for us. Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby is another one a lot of people like.

First, get them on the same schedule. That will save you. Feed them at the same time, put them down for naps at the same time, baths and bed at the same time. It will be interesting at first but they will get used to it. YOU are in charge, not them! Have the same routine EVERY day. Babies thrive on routine. When I first put them on the same schedule they cried but I knew it had to be done for my sanity. I think mine woke up from 10PM to 1AM for a while but they outgrew that pretty fast. Mine had to be fed every three hours when they got home from NICU.

As far as fussy, do they have colic or are they gassy? that will make them uncomfortable so you need to work with that as well. I use Gripe Water for mine when they are gassy as the Mylacon (sp) drops work but it made mine constipated.

Are you BFing or formula? Some formula will not agree with them so look for signs of that as well. If you are BFing there are women on here that did that solely so they can offer you support there.

Ummm, I would say do not let them nap anywhere. You need to put them in their crib, bassinet, or wherever you are making them sleep at night. That will be hard to break when they are older (trust me, I know!)

Is your husband able to help? If so, you feed them the first shift of the night then him the next so you are both at least getting 6 hours of sleep. If you are BFing, make him bring you the babies. To me, he should not get out of this but that is just me!

When they sleep YOU SLEEP! No joke!! Who cares if your house is a mess or things need to get done. They sleep, you sleep! I did this up until they were like 6 months old. My house is a wreck but I do not care anymore. If people offer help, tell them to wash bottles, do laundry, or whatever. Have people come over to watch the babies while you take a nap.

Ok I wrote a book. We are here to help and please keep us updated!!!

Congrats again!! Twins are the best!

Judy~ First, congratulations on the new additions...very exciting, but EXHAUSTING!!! My twins are 12 weeks, so I have just lived through what you are facing. ANd I promise, it does get better and it does get easier. But there are no shortcuts, trust me...I would have found them! You just have to grind it out. However, I found the book Babywise to be very helpful. The whole book is about giving the gift of sleep to newborns. And really outlines a good plan for scheduling.

My DH had the same breakdown as yours, and you will have yours as well. DH and I are really good about recognizing when the other is at a breaking point, I will let him off the baby hook for a couple of hours and he does the same for me. The good news is you have already made it through a month! Around the second month it gets easier and quieter at night. Mine started sleeping through the night a few days of the week around week 9, and now at 12 weeks almost every night they are sleeping 11 hours.

Also, my hats off to you for still pumping. I did it for two weeks and gave up, my patience and nerves could no longer handle it. It is certainly worth it, formula cost us 100 bucks a week!!!!!

Hang it there, if you have any questions just ask...this is a great group of twin moms!!!!

Hi Judy, congratulations on the birth of your twins!!

I want to give you a big firm hug. It is not easy at first. It was one of the hardest things we've ever done. Lack of sleep does it to you. When more sleep comes, IT WILL GET BETTER.

I also followed Babywise schedule. I wrote their schedules down on a piece of papaer and stuck it on the wall where I can see it. It makes the feeding part much easier. When the feedings get better they nap better, if they don't have any issues with formula etc...

Do you have anyone who can help out? My Mom was here for two months to help out so that was really nice. She did the meals and cleaning. My DH mainly took care of my older toddler. My babies responded really well to being swaddled. I am not sure how yours are but we swaddled them pretty tightly and they were happy as clams. My daughter had some sensitivities to cow's milk so we switched her to Nutramigen early on. She became less fussy after that. When nothing helped, we also gave her Gripe Water. That quieted her down instantly.

Until you get a schedule down and babies are used to it, it is very difficult at times. You will get there though. Mine started sleeing through the night at 3 months. They were 35 weekers.

My daughter is crying so I must go, but hang in there Judy!! You can do it!! If you have any questions or need to vent out, please post here!

Hi all

Just thought I would drop in quickly to say hi and to let you know I have not gone mad - well not at this stage anyways:) I am just about finished my ethics assignment so I am on track so far. Two to go....

I must admit ladies I am on facebook as well  Not that I get much time to interact so much but it does give me a chance to catchup on what my family are doing and to see photos of course :) I will try and find you Kimberly...

Em - yes you are an Aussie just like me and yes, I do remember you. You also have a new addition since you had your twins - congratulations!

Tolbee - you must be getting close - I might have to start pacing soon......

Jude - hang in their hun - IT DOES GET BETTER. For us, I think it was about the 8 month mark when I could really say OK, I going out with the twins then pack them up and go by myself. We had no help whatsoever and that made it harder I guess. I pretty well stayed home for the first 8 months as it was much easier for me. Still took them for local walks but never strayed too far from home.

US - well the twins are keeping us on our toes! Harry is a parrot and Bronte is as sassy as ever. She loves the mirror :) I put play earings on here and she went straight to her room and checked them out. I catch her often pulling faces, raining eyebrows, eating and jumping and prancing around her room all the while checking herslef out - it is so funny to watch. She also loves shoes! She will go and get some out and can even put them on herself. I can't then get them back off her as she carries on a treat so mainly just leave her to play. She had black patent shoes on for the whole day with socks and there was no way I was going to get them off her. Harry talks so much and says so many words I have lost count! He still loves his food and when we go by the coffee shop he mesmirised by the goodies - all he can say is chicken (his favorite food) and yummies so much so everyone smiles at him.

Waves to everyone else. Hope you all sort out your hassles with sleep etc...

Question for you ladies: When babies teeth, do they lose their appetite? Kenzie does not want to eat anything. No bottle, no solids, nothing! She will eat very tiny amount but then that is it she is done and screams at me until I stop feeding her.

Also, when you did milk before solids how much did you make them/try to get them to drink? I am doing only 2 oz before dinner and then the other meals (breakfast and lunch) like 4 or 5 oz then solids. Of course, they do not eat as much solids when they have more milk. 2 oz they seem to eat a lot of solids....

Well I am wicked exhausted. I took Nyquil last night because I have not been sleeping well. I need to catch up on sleep or something. I am a walking zombie. Last night I did not even hear them cry....mind you the monitor is right by me. I just hear DH get out of bed and deal with Kenzie...then I asked him what was going on and he was like...SHE WAS SCREAMING....and I said oh, and rolled over lol. First time ever that he got out of bed to deal with them...hehe. I really did not hear her though!!

Hi guys! 36 weeks, 3 more weeks to go! Cannot cannot belive it! I went to the OB today and I am 1cm dilated. This is pretty nomral around this time in pregnancy. I signed paper for tubal litigation(sp?) so I am definitely cutting my tubes. No more kids for us -- unless of course we do another IVF but then that will not happen!

I slept in this morning and finished my book this morning. I highly recommend this book titled "Your Roots are Showing":
http://www.amazon.com/Your-Roots-Showin ... 831&sr=8-1
It's a story about a woman with what seemed to be in a perfect marrige with small twins and a handsome husband but they get separated due to an unfortunate incident caused by prolonged post-partam depsression. There were many things I can relate to the main charactor and I enjoyed it very much. It's a cute story.

Anyways... Suga, yep teething can make the babies appetite go low. My kids are going through that right now. I really can't force them to eat anyway, so I just let it be. Their appetite should come back in a few days when they feel better. My kids had about 7 oz bottles before solids. That probably wasn't a good idea because they wouldn't eat much solids, but that is the way it worked for us. Now that they are on Milk and off the bottles apart from the last milk before bedtime, they have the milk in a sippy cup together with the meals. Even so, they don't eat very much. They are gaining weight fine though so I am not too worried about it. Hope you get some sleep today. I am rather sleepy right now and I might just lay down on the couch!

I posted my prego photo in my blog. Not a good pic of me at all but heck, it really does not matter! I found out that my OB lives just around the corner today. Somehow that is assuring in case of emergency!? Today is my first day off work and I am feeling pretty happy. The weather is also gorgeous in the lower 70s! When it rains all the time, it's such a big reward when we get days like this. I didn't appreciate the sun as much when I lived in Northern Calif for sure.

Anyways, I think I will hit the couch while the twins nap.

Take care!

Hey everyone,

It's been awhile since I've posted so I thought I'd give an update. My wife is starting to show of course and is just over 19 weeks. She's feeling the babies move more and more everyday, but they seem to stay still when daddy is touching mommy's tummy. :? She says she feels A move around alot more than B so that worries her, but on our last ultrasound everything was just fine. Naturally with her being an IVF lady she is going to worry about everything, but then she makes me worry lol. We go in for another checkup in two weeks to do a more in depth ultrasound, but we know they are still both boys so we've starting buying the furniture, registering, and interviewing daycare providers now. It's hard to find someone to watch twins! Just wanted to know if you ladies felt one move more than the other. Hope all is well............ :D

BigRed: First off, congrats on 19 weeks! Second, are you sure she is feeling just one baby move more than the other? I thought I did as well (Baby B) but then I went to the doctor and stated this and he said that they are so small they do not stay in the same location and still have room to move around a lot. So she could be feeling a different baby and just not know it. Also, it could be the hands of one baby or the feet of another. So you just never really know what baby is moving/kicking more until they are bigger and can not move around as much. But an answer to your question, I thought I felt one more than the other. Have fun decorating!!

So the girls are having a therapist come and look at them. They are going to be evaluated to see if they need anything. I do not think they do but they want to check anyways. They asked a ton of questions on the phone and said that they sounded right on track. So hopefully we get an A on the eval and do not need to meet with them again! We shall see!

bigred~ From the very, very beginning I felt baby A more than B. And that continued on throughout the whole pregnancy. Even at the end, Baby A was always making his presence known, and B just sat still. Now that the boys are here...I realize they were showing their personalities early!!! Baby A (Paxton) constantly moves, rolled over for the first time at two weeks and now wants to stand on his own at 3 mths. Baby B (Kellen) is my laid back baby, he is content just being held and being a baby!! So, dont worry and tell your wife not to worry!!!!

suga~Why is a therapist coming anyway???
