Premature Menopause

Post by mistorrie »

Hi

I don't know who to turn too, I feel totally lost and an utter failture to my partner and family, I am trying to hold it together, but find myself sat here wondering how on earth this happened and why?

Yesterday I went to St Mary's Hospital in Manchester, accompanied by my partner, we were told that I had run out of eggs prematurely.

My world fell apart in seconds and now sat here searching for information on egg donors, surgoracy and adoption, willing God to help me.

I need help, I need someone to talk too... Is there anyone there?

Hi mistorie

I am so sorry for the feelings you are experiencing, do you mind me asking how old you are?

I have premature ovarian failure as well, and it is devastaing when you first hear the news but there is always hope. I am not sure whether you have children, I am guessing not? Or how you have come to be finding out about your diagnosis. but there are things you can try that sometimes improve your egg quality and quantity, have you tried IVF as an option? Sorry lots of questions, there are lots of women here that have the same diagnosis and some of them will have gone on to have successful pregnancies, although not all of us achieve that.

I am happy to talk with you via the pm if you want to.

you will get to a point where you start to feel better I promise.

Premature Menopause

Dear Lee

Thanks for replying, My partner and I found out yesterday when we went to see our consultant at St Marys, They have told us that I have run out of eggs early, and found this out by my AMH result being 1.25 and the normal range is 16-30, apparently very rare AMH result.

I am 33 years old and No we do not have any children, so as you know we are devastated and feeling lost, numb and angry, upset and why it is that every where you look there are ppl with little babies.

Would like to talk via PM at some point, by finding it hard to stay focused for a period of time.

Hi Julie,

I am so sorry for your pain. I too am experiencing something similar. I just found out that in October 2007, when I was just 33 years old my AMH level was 0.3 - and this was tested at two different laboratories.

I have only found out about it now because I requested a copy of all my records from my RE in preparation for consults with other REs. I think she never mentioned it to me because in the US, AMH testing is still considered for research only and not to be used as a clinical diagnosis.

But, the evidence out there is overwhelming that pregnancy is not in our favor - however, I would like to offer you what hope I can. We have been through IVF twice and one time I produced 8 mature eggs and another, only 4. Unfortunately, both rounds ended in only 2 viable embryos by day 3 - but these embryos looked great! After all, it only takes one....right?

Unfortunately, we have not gotten pregnant yet - but my RE is still confident that we can - even with an AMH level as low as 0.3. I plan on discussing this with other REs as well. After all, my FSH levels are normal and we are still young-ish.

I know you will get through this, those of us with diagnosed infertility are the strongest i know!!!!!!!! Your feelings right now are normal, but as you take charge of this - you will start to feel better.

Let us know how you are doing - and if you have any additional info on AMH, I'd love to hear it.

just wanted to give you some hope i found out when i was 19yrs old that i was in perimenapause... i am 26 years old and did fertility treatments for 6yrs in that six years i became pg 7x. Unfortunitly i lost 5 pregnancies, BUT i have two beautiful daughters age 4yrs and 14mths... it is possible but i will say i was my own advocate. I never took any meds that they told me to until after i did my own research. I would have them right down the spelling and the research the hell out of it. I would call the drug manufactor even if i felt necessary. When it came to my losses they have never found reasons but had me try dif drugs to prevent however i never took one till i knew everything about it. You have to keep yourself up to date on everything. You cant just take or do something cause a RE tells you to.
