I slipped and fell on Wednesday. Although I did not hit my stomach, I did land pretty hard on my right knee and hand. After feeling some pain Wed. night, I went in the next morning. After hearing both heartbeats, I thought I was fine and asked to go home. They told me that I was having contractions 2 to 3 minutes apart. Admitted to the hospital at 29 weeks 5 days, they put me on magnesium and 2 steriod shots to help develop the boys lungs should they arrive early. I was released Friday afternoon. I was 1 cm dialated and am now on bedrest taking Procardia and Terbutiline. Definiately not how I imagined it would turn out. Everyone that has had similar experiences, I would love to hear some good feedback. Am I down for the duration. Did anyone get to come off of complete bedrest????

Though I have no experience going through what you're going through, I wanted to show support. I'm saying a prayer for you and your boys and sending lots of great energy for a happy ending.

Gosh Liz I am so sorry! Although mine is a little different story from yours, I was pregnant with twins and started preterm labor at 20 weeks They put me on procardia. I still had some contractions but nothing that was doing too much. However at 30 weeks and 6 days my water broke and I delivered my twin girls. I did the magnesium off and on in the hospital. I was never admitted for more than a week. No I wish they had kept me in the hospital. I think Thursday before I had the girls (I had them that next Monday night) I was 3 cm dilated, tunneling, and 90% efaced. So to me, they should have kept me in the hospital. Oh well! They are healthy girls now so it all worked out. HOWEVER I will say you are most likely on bed rest the rest of the time. Take it seriously. Stay in bed except to go to the bathroom. Otherwise it is very possible you will have early babies and I do not wish that upon anyone! Keep taking your meds. I know with the Terbutiline they will monitor you really close as it can raise your blood pressure and heart rate. So lay low and do what the doctor says! I am glad you got the steroids. I had 3 rounds of them! Did they give you a fetal fibronectin? Mine came back positive each time.
Best of wishes and stay in bed! I am thinking you will be there until those baby boys are born. It is well worth it!!
Yeah I tested positive each time I got one done (I think three times?) so they are not always 100% as I am sure you know. But stay put! I caught up on TV (did you know Dawson's Creek plays at 3AM HAHA!) and read a lot of books. Finally because my sleep schedule was so out of wack they prescribed me some Ambien to sleep and Benedryl.
Hi. I am so sorry you have to go through this. I had preterm labor with my twins starting at 17 weeks. In and out of the hospital with contractions. I was able to be at home most of the time. Laying down on my side to eat, drink, everything. Miserable......but it was well worth it. If you can get to 34 weeks alot of drs will let you off bedrest then. Good luck and best wishes to you and your babies.
No preterm for me but I have previa so I'm at risk for it. I've had the steroid shots for my baby too. I understand they are a huge help should you have to deliver early. You have my sympathies on the bedrest - at least you got to go home vs. hospital bedrest. Best wishes for things to continue smoothly!
