waw u r so lucky .. My practise doesn't offer any class .. all I have is the video site called freedom .. where u can watch the videos
CT_Michele wrote:Well, my injection class went fine today. Lots of paperwork to sign, and it was good to get a refresher about the meds. It was a little bit different then last time, I guess because I have a high dose of follistim, I do not need to add any saline water to the menopur. Also, the trigger I am doing is a big different too. I am glad went for the class. So I am all set to start Friday night, and will have my first u/s and bw monday morning.
The nurse today mentioned about taking baby aspirin, she says there is new research out that indicates baby aspirin might help implantation? Has anyone else heard this or have any of your RE's reccomended this? I did not do it last time, and I am hesitant about changing anything from last time since we had a successful cycle. Just looking for thoughts and opinions...
Faith, i kept my lupron at room temp after opening. Go by whatever was sent by your pharmacy. Mine clearly pointed out any medication that needed to stay refrigerated. The only thing I had that HAD to stay refrigerated was Ovidrel (the trigger shot). Everything else was refrig until opened and then room temp.
Michele, I have heard about the baby aspirin thing. Not much info to share, but I've heard of it.

CT_Michelle - I've taken baby aspirin with all my cycles. I was told it helped with implantation too. I'm not sure how true it is. I've had one failed fresh cycle and 2 failed FET. But it worked this time for me.

Cynthia and Latinosunshine:
Just did the PIO self injection on my left side. Wasn't hard at all, just had to twist a little more. I have been doing them without using a mirror, just standing up. Tomorrow I start injecting 2cc at a time But so far so good. If you can do the right side, then no problem with the left. By the way, I haven't been using the bra method to heat PIO. I have a beany that I heat to put on area after injection. I warm it up first, then put my vial in it, while I get all the other stuff ready for injection. Seems to work well.
Well just wanted to give anyone thinking of doing the PIO themselves the confidence to do it. It has been a breeze so far
Michelle, I have heard of baby aspirin being given also, but never knew for what reason. I will research it, if it improves my chances I want to do it. Anything to make it work
Have a good one, Melanie
CT Michele-- I actually asked my RE when I first started this journey. They said not to do the baby aspirin....I didnt know why becasue there are so many people on this site that do it? But your right, obviously it worked without it! Everyones cycles are sooo different, I usually just go with what RE says otherwise I drive myself crazy!

Hi Ladies- I'm starting Lupron friday w/baseline check on 24th and ER for May 5, 6 or 7. This is my 1st IVF cycle and I'm super excited. I also very nervous because my husband and I have been trying to schedule this but it has been something interfering since last year, and now my husband is deployed overseas. So, I will be doing this alone, with the help of my mom. Anyone else experienced doing their cycle w/o DH
Faith03 & Estrellita- our cycles are almost the same, it would be great to share all my worries with someone in the same spot of their cycle
I love reading everyone's experiences, this really has been a great way to get an insiders view since talking to all my girlfriends that are either preggo or have kids don't understand anything I'm saying
I look forward to sharing my cycle and reading how everyone else is doing too! Good Luck to everyone starting, stimming, and waiting!

I kinda came to the conclusion that for me, since RE hasn't advised it, and I don't have recurrent pregnancy losses, then I guess I don't need it. I would just do whatever the RE advises though, since everyone is different. They obviously know your medical needs.
Have a great day ladies. Off to bed for me!
Melanie
Michele - so it turned out to be a good idea to go to the injection class, huh? Roll on tomorrow night so you can get started! BTW, I personally hadn't heard the baby aspirin thing. Like Neffi, I find it easier just to do whatever my clinic advises (which as it happens isn't much), as we are all on such different protocols. I also follow what my acupuncturist tells me as I trust her completely - she has mentioned pineapple (in moderation) before to help with implantation, but nothing else (well other than the usual lots of protein and fluids while stimming).
Caparez - welcome! There are lots of first timers on this thread (myself included) so you've come to the right place for advice and information. Tough that you are going to be doing the cycle on your own with DH deployed, but I'm sure you'll get through it OK with your Mum. If you are anything like me, the fear of the unknown (with the needles etc) is far worse than the reality.
Faith - another welcome!
Melanie - Such great news that you're all on course for your FET. So either tomorrow or Easter Sunday depending on how they get on after the thaw? Fingers crossed for lots of day 5 fighers! You're such a little star doing your own PIO shots on both right and left sides, although maybe it is easier just to get on and do it yourself, particularly with your background! I really thought that I would want DH to do all my injections (given how terrified I am of needles) but when it came down to it, I actually wanted to be the one in control and it has worked out OK. I just take it slow and tell myself that it really doesn't matter if I take 20 minutes to build up to it, and actually I get quicker every day and it really doesn't hurt at all. I'm the same as you, I use a hot beany but I use mine on the injection site before (to warm up the area so the blood flows better and the drugs disperse quickly) as well as after. Plus if I heat up the area I seem to feel the needle going in a little less.
estrellita - how did you get on with your shot last night, did DH arrive home in time to do it, or did you go over to your sister's house? Or did you do it yourself?
Cynthia - have you managed to do a left side PIO too?
Hey aims, so nice to hear from you. How's things going?
sportsmom - sorry to hear about your little delay. Fingers crossed that you get to start on Monday. And a total of 34 possible follies - awesome!
Neffi - I think that's a really good idea to defrost some of your sleeping beauties so that you can transfer more than one. Like you said, it can't hurt, even if you think that they aren't going to be great quality. I will be keeping you in my thoughts tomorrow.
Kirstyb - how did ER go for you? Report in when you can!
Carolyn - five fertilised eggs, how amazing!
To all those I've missed, good luck with your waiting for cycle/down regulating/stimming/ER/ET/waiting for beta etc!
And HAPPY EASTER to all of us. Easter 'eggs' have a little more significance for me this year!

Melanie, you're such a trooper DH is home again tonight and I'm due on my right side. He's working tomorrow night which means I SHOULD be injecting on my left side. Oh dear, lol! Maybe I'll give it a try
Welcome caperez! Hazel's right, there are a lot of 1st timers here, I'm another one You'll feel right at home in no time. I don't know what I'd do without this board. Like you say, people not having to go through this just simply can't relate. I have 4 sisters who I'm very close with and I still don't discuss what I'm going through very much with them. They are actually pretty good about standing back, telling me to go do what I have to do and they'll be there to celebrate with me in the end No questions or unsolicited advice. It actually helps because they dont' treat me like something's "wrong" with me. Now that I think about it, the only close friends I've told all have medical backgrounds so I'm much more comfortable discussing things with them. Everyone else doesn't have a clue.

caparez, My DH and I are expatriate and I was coming back home for my cycles as he could not take holidays. so I did all my cycles without Dh , it
was not fun... once my mum came to help, which was great!
but for some reason I got used to be on my own, and this time i did my tmt with DH, and I could not control my mood swings and poor thing got a lot of hassle from me!! he did not know what was happening!
as for the baby aspirin, I have been taking it for all my cycles and even in between (and it doesnt make my periods heavier)
I always stop 2 days before EC and start the following.
For this cycle, my doc did not prescribe it so I asked her and she said she was ok for me to take it .
I am not sure if it makes a difference, altough it seems easy for me to get pregnant with ifv, the aspirin did not prevent my miscarriages...
good luck to all!

Faith, Caperez and Statsgoddess is good to know that we are all on the same time Faith, the day the nurse gave me instructions on how to use the Lupron she told me to refrigerate it after open Statsgoddess I think I wouldn't do a single shot myself Hazel thanks for asking... I waited for DH he got home about 30 mins later than the usual time I'm doing my shots, but I can't do it myself!

I also found out last night none of my eggs made it to freeze. I cried so hard thinking that means the ones inside me probably werent strong enough to make it. AND this is it. If this doesnt work, our fertility journey is over. Off to adoption.
Now, I have such a debbie downer attitude about this cycle working. I have not one symptom that would indicate Im pregnant. In fact, I feel like Im PMSing already.
I'm sorry you're so down latinosunshine! Keep the faith. Just pray that the embies are growing stronger everyday. And they are much happier to be in you than out of you.
