April/May Cycle

Post by hltot »

Hello, I am new to this site but could use some support. My husband and I will be begining our 1st IVF cycle April/May. ER is scheduled for May 5th. The reason we have to have IVF is that my husband is a paraplegic and has problems with ejaculation. The other week he had a sperm extraction which we were planning on freezing, however when they did the analysis there were only 4 sperm and of course poor motility. We are going to have ICSI done as well however now we have to have the sperm extraction done all over on the day of ER and hope there is something there. I hope and pray that all goes well cause all I ever wanted in life was to get married and have a family...does anyone have a similar experience?

Hltot-to answer your question-Dh and I had male factor too. Poor everything-There was never even enuf in the ejaculate-He had tesa(the sperm removed surgically & frozen) On my day of retreval the doc only found 5 sperm out of the 4 vials they got that had somewhat moving sperm-nothing great! Three of those 5 fertilized-2 put back in, and I am typing this to you holding my beautiful 6 day old boy in my arms right now!!!! So don't loose the faith-It is possible!! Lots of positive thoughts to you, and GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I am new to all this, so I'm glad to have found people in the same boat, we too have poor quantity and motility. I am having trouble understanding all the abbrev. I am currently on birth control and going for an orientation on the 22nd to learn how to do the injections. Anyone know how long from start to finish?

Hi Faith,
I think we are on the same boat. I started Lupron last Thurs 4/02 and will start Bravelle and Menopur on 4/17, so that's 2 weeks on Lupron, but I'll continue Lupron as well after 4/17, so it'll be more than 2 weeks

Hey estrellita! I will be going to the same location as you. The midtown location! I am sooo anxious to get started already! I never wanted my period to come so bad before. Lol. I am 27 (like you) and DH is 37. We are also starting our first IVF cycle.

That's nice! Good Luck with everything
I was like you waiting for af, so I called the nurses and they were going to give me pills to help my af come but my DH said too much medication . I hope you get your af soon so our dates are not far :D. So, are you starting day 2? and you already went to the ivf orientation?
Good Luck on your cycle

I am pretty regular with my menstrual cycles so it should be any day now. God, im so impatient!! You started the injections already? How did the first one go? I will be on the lupron/GonalF, Repronex meds.

Oh, im really new with all the abbreviations. What does "af" stand for?

Yeah, we will definitely be close in our cycle.
