Yasmina:

Thanks for your advice and encouragement. Yes, I plan to have a ultrasound to determine how many follies I have. I will also take a trigger shot to release the eggs if there are more than one. I hope that Femara will work for me. It would be great to get 5 follies, as I transferred 5 embies during my IVF #2.

Hello Ladies,

Just stopping by to say hello.

Sorry I have been off the radar, I have nothing new to report and I am afraid that I am not experienced enough to give any insight! However, I am so happy for all the BFP's out there and praying for those us to get one!

My next appt is Saturday to discuss my options at the SRM (Seattle Reproductive Medicine) --which I have heard good things about, and know a woman at my office who had conceived twins at 41! SO I have found renewed hope. Has anyone else heard of this place?

My appt is at noonish and I will give you an update then. If you can think of any questions I can pose, PM me please. Thanks

As for now, we are still in limbo land here in Alaska, waiting to see if the volcano will blow it's top or not....

until then

Kat,
Try this link http://apps.nccd.cdc.gov/ART2005/clinics05.asp

It shows the different clinics in the US. I don't about that clinic, but I am sure someone on this board does.

AFM: I got my good cry out after the BFN. Get to go to a baby shower this weekend - ughhhh. I really feel that I have to go since this is a friend and we both have been trying (she adopted) for the same amount of time. She was happy for me when I was PG even though she didn't have one - so I figure I should support her even though this time I don't have one. Funny, she is probably the only person that I would do this for - I have avoided all other showers lately.
We are trying again ASAP - which means around Memorial Day. RE said he didn't know what to say - he thought it would work - especially since the quality of the eggs were so good. I don't want to go to DE, but I figure a few more tries with my own eggs - then look into DE. That way, I KNOW I will have a baby sometime soon and that makes things less stressfull so that I can relax more (which is what I think I need).

PMA to everyone,

Good morning ladies,

We are reading your posts and caring about your progress. However, some of us are busy with newborns and cannot post as often as we wish. So, please don't be discouraged when you don't see us posting.

Tracy,

How did your baby shower go this weekend? I also skipped few baby showers when we were trying naturally and then ivf but failed. I imagine I would just cry and mess up the happy atmosphere. I hope yours did not hurt you too much.

Kat,

How was your post ivf consultation with your doctor? Did you come up with all questions that you would like to ask? I hope that you feel better after meeting your Dr. Did you have a clear plan for the next step now?

When it comes to Dr., I am like an elementary student who is afraid of teachers. I had never dared to look at my RE's eyes to ask questions until I got twice of failed cycles (one canceled cycle, one negative with 4 embryos transferred). I did plenty research (online and read books) and came up with questions specific to my case at my consultation with my RE and embryologist after that. Getting myself educated with ivf knowledge boosted my confidence.

Tammy,

How are you doing with the Femara? I have not tried any other ways before and not so familiar with the procedure. After the trigger shot, do you do a natural way of delivery of sperms or IUI? I imagine you would do natural intercourse on schedule, right? Fingers crossed for you. I read somewhere about Clomid saying it works the best at first few cycles. I know Femara works similarly and am very hopeful for you now.

Hi to all other ladies here.

Yasmina: It is good to hear from you. I did not do the Femara this past cycle, as DH had a prostrate biopsy (thank God, no cancer) and I was afraid that his swimmers would not be up to par. I will start mid April. I have read that Femara does not thin out the lining like clomid does.

Tracy: How did the shower go? I hope you are doing ok.

Hello to Kat, Rhonda, Catharine and anyone else that I may have missed.

Hi everyone,
The shower went OK. I met her about 1 hour before at her mom's house so we had time to talk. I did hold little Emma for a few minutes, but then passed her back to mom. She TOTALLY understood and said to do what I needed to do - stay/leave, hold/not hold baby, talk/not talk. It was very comfortable. So I did have a good time since I only SEE this friend every couple of years.
My acupunturist found an abstract that indicated "laughter" helped after ET. The statsistics went from 19% to 39% PG with those that had a clown in their room right after ET. Funny I know, but I told our nurses this and said they should put TV's in the room an have the Comedy Channel playing. Just thought it was an interesting piece of information. Kinda makes you wonder that someone actually applied and got money to show a clown/laughter helps with IVF (and to think someone actually thought enough about this to try and do a study). WOW - people who think outside the box amaze me. Just wish I could be one of them.

Now just waiting for AF in April. I HOPE/PRAY it on time, because if it is I will probably flying right after to FL for a vacation - with another couple who everytime we get together my DH and I are laughing so hard we cry. We keep teasing them that they have to take a vacation day and be with us after the ET. Anyway, anytime with them is fun, so spending week one of the 2 WOH (thanks Kat I love the new term) will pass the time quickly.

Everyone needs to do an update - I hope everything is going OK.

Greetings! :D

How's everyone? Haven't seen too many posts lately. I'm starting to get concerned.

Tracy-thinking of you any signs of AF? How are teh vacation plans?

Tammy-how's DS doing? you must be preparing for a tmt cycle. Keep us posted.

Yasmina-how are you doing? DS must be getting big. Is his big sis helpful? thinking of you.

Kat-any news?

Rhonda-how are you doing? are you able to enjoy your pg now?

And to all I may have missed greetings and wishing you well.

All is well here. I've been busy. I've gotten a few projects to work on for 'work'. This has been a wee bit challenging in making time to 'work' while taking care of DD. Thankfully, more projects keep coming in, which is a lot better than the 4th quarter 2008 and first month and half of 2009. I can almost breathe easier. DD continues to amaze us. She thinks she's a big girl, hahaha. She wants to stand. She wants the telephone, the tv remote, the vcr remote. What doesn't she want, hahaha. She'll sit in my lap rest her hands on mine while I type on the computer keyboard. She delights in it. So funny.

This month our medical insurance provider will change. We might have some coverage with fertility tmts, a first :) DH and I are still 'negotiating' this though. Me I'm ready, let's go. Let's get this show on the road. DH is a bit more pragmatic. He's worried about $$. But who isn't. We will just have to adjust accordingly as issues arise. Okay I must have a case of the happy hormones at the moment.

Wanted to let ya'll know I'm thinking of you. Wishing everyone well.

Hi everyone,
I was hoping to be over my sickness by now. almost 5 months. will b 5 months by one due date on Sunday. I am much better with the nausea. Still not gone but way better. Now I have low hemoglobin. Dr. has put me on iron supplements and told me to eat more red meat an spinach. yuck. Any tips for me. I have been really tired and working 12 hour night shifs is not helping the cause. I also get times where I get really light-headed and feel like im gonna faint. I had to sit down in the isle of Walmart two times this morning with that. The doc says it could be my sugar level or blood pressure. my blood pressure had been running from 92/52 to 100/52. Pretty low. mine is normaly around 112 or 115. Looks like I am gonna have to deal with weird stuff throuh out my pregnancy. Pregnancy is not easy on me. but it is worth it to me.,

I hope you all are doing well. Keep in touch. Happy Easter to all!!!

Hello ladies,
I think I'm new to this crowd. I'm sort of a mutt: I'm over 40 (43) I'm waiting & I'm an egg head. Boy, I've got issues haha! My story if you hadn't heard is short & sweet- low egg reserve. Finally find the man of my dreams & ....... too late! So dh & I decided to go ed route. Tried sis but is not well enough to donate. Paid a broker to find an anonymous donor. Found the donor & just waiting for the appt. on 4/20 for pre-screening tests & hoping to start in June/July. I'm really not sure on the time frame-can't seem to get a straight answer.
I live in the states. Anyone from Ohio? Anyone of you going egg donor route? what kind of experiences are you having? Is it top secret or are you sharing?

Hello Ladies:

Catharine: DS is doing well. He is excited about coloring easter eggs today. He does not know what that means yet, but has been carrying around the dye kits. I may wait 1 month for the Femara, as I keep having mid-cycle spotting. My progesterone was a little low, but not too low. I think that is my problem and I got some prog. supp. from my ob/gyn. I think I will try it to help get my lining into shape.

Rhonda: Glad to hear that your nausea has been getting better. When is your due date?

Sabi: Welcome to our site. I am 44 but will be 45 on 4/28. I have a 2 year old son and would like to have one more child. Time will tell.

hello to everyone else.

Hey there Ladies:

I had an U/S and blood draw today. I am day 2 of my period, they wanted to do a day 2 rather than day 5 (Monday). Here are the results:

U/S Rt. ovary 12 Follies Lft: 15, My FSH is 8, and E2 is 20. I am not really sure what the numbers mean yet, but my Doc is very optimistic. I am to start BCP's sunday for 29 days, and sceduled ER for last week of May. I am so excited, this doc is breath of fresh air.

Happy Easter

Kat wowa!! fsh level 8 is great!! don't know about the other test but i know they look for single digits in fsh. That's awesome!! My fsh level was 19.5 at 42 almost 43 yrs old & they hate double digits-they call it "peri" in the twilight of menopause. 8 is a good reading. I can see why your doc is opt. Are doing clomid or femara?

Sabi,

I have to go the IVF route. I had a non-reversible tubal ligation in '98. I got pg on the pill with my first and with my 4th (and I was nursing on top of that)! So fearful that i would become pg with no 5, in a crappy marriage i had my tubes removed---beyond repair. I am considered a high responder in the IVF world, my first cycle (micro-flare protocol) was canx due to hyper stim (46 follies), my next cycle long lupron yielded 33 follies 17 eggs retrieved 15 fertilized, most fragmented, I have read a lot up on fragmentation due in part by maternal age, protocol and lab environment. We only transferred 3 embies, because I am afraid to have muliples (considering my history with having successful pregnancies in the past), My (new) husband I "tried" this local doc that dabbles in infertility, he has been successful with younger women, my age being the significant factor along with my known infertility (tubal), lends itself to a more experienced doc and controlled lab environment. I am mostly message board/internet educated in all this...so much to learn!!!

I have since learned that my numbers are very very good, esp considering my age. good gene pool, I guess, but I try to be realistic and not overly optimistic, I dont want to jinx myself!
