AF after starting stims?

Hey everyone,

I started my stims on Friday night, follistim and menopur. Prior to starting stims I was on bcp's until this past monday and then I had 3 days of nothing and then started the stims. Last time I went through ivf a year and a half ago, I did the same thing, and I do not remember getting a period. Well, today I am having a light period. Has anyone else had af after starting stims? Is it normal? I am not very good with the technicallities of it all, but I thought a period is when your egg comes out every month, so if I am stimming to grow a bunch of eggs, then why would I get my period? Are the eggs going to come out?

Thanks for any responses, I am sure it is normal, this is the way my RE does all of his cycles, and I will ask him about it tomorrow.

Hey-- I have always had AF during stims.....I usually start stims on Day 2 of AF one cycle I did day 3.....but I think that is normal.

I bled for 11 days straight on my FET cycle. It is normal. I didn't on my fresh cycle.

Hi Michele! Don't worry about AF. AF should be brought on by you stopping the OCPs. AF is brought on by a change in hormone levels (can't remember which one...) which is exactly what happened when you stopped the OCPs. An egg is shed with AF only when you ovulate and it doesn't become fertilized - which didn't happen to you this month as you were on OCPs! Good luck with the rest of stimming!
