Postpartum Bleeding-lochia-how much? how long?

Post by jennywit »

Hi to all the moms out there-wondering if you can share your wisdom with me. I had my baby 11 days ago via c-sec & I still have small to moderate amout of bright red blood each time I use the bathroom. I still am using a pad too. I have been reading up online & everything I read says that it should be more pinkish tinged by day 3-4 not this bright red blood anymore. I do have my follow up in 2 days with my doc-Just looking for some insight from you ladies first. Thank You Jennifer

Jennywit: I think my red blood was done after a few days then it went to brown. I too had a c-section of twins. I would say if it is not really heavy then you are fine! Clots are normal as well too. I even had (TMI!) some of my uterine lining fall out. At your check up you can ask the doctor but I am sure you are fine. Only really heavy bleeding is something you should be worried about. Congrats on the baby though!

As long as you are not soaking a pad every 2 hours you are fine, mine went from brown and almost gone to then red again and then on and off and it was fine. It lasted quite a few weeks.
