Hope everything smoothes out for you. It sounds like your right on top of everything and getting the attention you need.

Thanks for your encouragement. So far, no further spotting. My next appt. is 4/30 so I’m in a new 2ww.

Summerbaby
Welcome. Congratulations on making it to 12+2!

Just wondering if many of you have told people at work yet? My boss knows, but no on else. I can’t decide when to spill. I guess I’d rather wait at least until after my next appt., but I’m not sure if my belly will give it away by then.

Good morning! Thanks for the warm welcome!

How is everyone feeling?

Good luck with your upcoming NT scan, Molly! Glad to hear you like your new doctor. I think that is really important.
My official due date is Oct. 27th, but my doctor already said I'd deliver by C-Section before that. I had fibroid surgery about 5 years ago, which left a number of scars, and would make a natural delivery too difficult.

Siouxsie - Happy to hear that you've had no further spotting. Did they tell you it could possibly be from the progesterone? I had some spotting 2 weeks ago and they said due to the extra hormones I was taking, it was pretty common for the cervix to become irritated and result in bleeding or spotting. I'm on the progesterone suppositories and not the shots. I'm sure all will be fine at your next U/S and hopefully, you can start to breathe a little easier after you've passed that 14 week mark. Continue to think positively.
The prenatal yoga sounds wonderful, by the way!

Barb - Hope you are feeling a bit better today! Thinking of you.

We also don't know when to tell everyone the news. My doctor said to keep things quiet till the pregnancy was more stabile. I will talk to her about it at my next appt., which is next week. I'd like to share the news with everyone, because I am sure they see that I've gained some weight -- so, it has been hard not saying anything!

Have a great day!

Progesterone suppplementation

Post by nancy1 »

Hi ladies,

I am crashing this thread even though I am scheduled to be a "November mommy". Since you guys are a month ahead of me, I would love to hear your feedback on progesterone supplementation.

If you were on IM injections, when did you discontinue it?
If you were on Vaginal capsules, when did you discontinue it?

I have been reading different recommendations and would love to read your feedback. I had my shots until week 8 and will stop the capsules at week 10.

Thanks a lot.

Congratulations. I’ve been on progesterone suppositories. I was scheduled to go off at 12 weeks. I did stop for 2 days and have a measurement taken – it was 37.8 and they want it over 20. But since I spotted on 12w+3d, the dr. suggested I stay on for one more week. Now, my last day will be Sat. Wa-hoo. Summerbaby could be right about the spotting, though, so it may be a toss up.

The yoga is great. There were only 3 of us in the class so it was nice and personal. I usually exercise a bit more, but I’m nervous so I’ve limited myself to the bike and walking. It feels good to get some stretching in a way that’s safe.

Nancy1 - i chose to stay on the shots through the 12 weeks, I just felt like the shots are once a day and then done but I had heard the suppositories are something you have to "deal" with all day. i had my last shot last wednesday (12 weeks) and i feel normal again finally. Good luck with which ever you decide.

I decided against the NT scan, I have heard alot about the false positives on it and I felt it would cause more stress. My doctor told me upfront there was nothing we could do to change the results or do anything for the baby to fix anything so it would just be informational. So we decided it wasnt for us. But she did say it was not painful and no risk was invloved at all.

Does anyone know how often is normal to have an U/S. I had one at 7 weeks with my RE but not since and I would really like to just check on my baby again.

Hi Ladies

Post by joannet »

I am sorry I haven't been writing. The morning sickness has totally wiped me out. Hopefully I will be past this stage soon so that I can start enjoying being pregnant.

Nancy - I was on the progesterone shots and suppositories for 12 weeks after FET. I voluntarily stopped (without my RE's consent) both at the end of week 10 because I just couldn't take it anymore. I had two pretty ugly sores on my hips from the shots and well the suppositories are .........

We are well on our way to week 14 and all is well. My two little pumpkins are growing quite well.

Barb - I hope all is well with you. You and your bundles are in our prayers. Hang in there.

Well we have stated to prepare. I've already pulled out all the old things we have from our prior baby and started sorting and so on. It is pretty exciting to think very soon we are going to be a family of 5.....

I hope everyone's having a great week. I was reading that twins are full term at 37 weeks. Does that automatically mean that my OB will suggest a C section then? I guess I should ask him on Thursday at our OB visit.

Ok, happy Tuesday.

Nancy- I stopped the progesterone shots at 8 weeks, and I was shocked when my doctor told me that. He said since I am having twins I will produce double the progesterone. So far everything has gone well, so I guess it was okay to stop.

joannet- I am so sorry about your morning sickness, and it should ease up soon. The little morning sickness I had pretty much went away at the end of 12 weeks. I don't think the doctor will decide to do a C Section at 37 weeks, but my doctor said I will be begging to take them out at 38 weeks. I want to keep them in as long as possible, because it would be nice not to have to go back to work until after the new year.

niki- I think we were all spoiled at the RE, and we really don't get that many ultrasounds. I know they will do the gender one between 18 and 20 weeks, but other then that I don't think there are many. Since I am having twins I will get more, since I will see the specialist.

BarbD- How are you feeling?

siouxsie- We just really started telling family, and I am not going to be 100% comfortable with it until I see my babies on the ultrasound tomorrow.

Summerbaby- How are things going with you? Any doctor appointments lately?

I have my NT scan tomorrow, and I am excited about that. I will let you guys know how things go. I had my doctor do HCG test on me and of course it was positive. They really freaked me out with the urine pregnancy test.

Hi everyone!

Mollly - good luck with the NT scan today!

Niki - Here in Germany, insurance pays for 3 ultrasounds, but you can opt for more and pay for them out of pocket, which we have been doing.

joannet - happy hear your twins are doing well. Do hope the morning sickness eases for you soon. How old is your child? Do they know yet about their future siblings?

I go for another scan on Thursday. My RE did reduce my meds for the next 2 weeks and I can finally stop on May 7th. Seems like a long time that I am on them, compared to the rest of you! My OB has recommended that we do an amnio, is anyone else considering this option?

Hello and regards to siouxsie, Barb and all the others I have missed!

Niki
I’ve had three u/s at my OB so far: 10 wks with a nurse practitioner and a 2nd w/ perintologist (due to my previous history); 12 wks w/ dr. (including NT) At my HMO, visits now level out to 1x per month and I don’t think all include a u/s. I’m surprised your OB didn’t want to do one for you by now. I’d ask. You must be very curious.

Summerbaby
I am doing an amnio on 4/30. I’m nervous, but I think it’s important for us esp. due to my history with a neural tube defect. I’ve been keeping it pretty quiet since I’ve noticed that some folks on this board have very strong opinions about it.

Hope your NT went great.

Molly, how did the NT scan go?

I am glad to see that everyone is coming along good. As for me I am feeling better some mild cramps here and there but they say with three it will be expected. My belly is pretty big and I really uncomfortable but I will make it. I was already told that at my 20 week appt I will probably be put on some type of bedrest.

Hope you ladies have a great thursday.

Hi, I hope its ok if I join here, I am expecting my 3rd baby in October. We did IVF in Oct 08 and I delivered twin girls last june. It took 5 years of IUI and IVF to have my girls and now I am pregnant naturally with number 3. I am a little scared about how I will be able to handle 3 babies under 18 months but I know its a blessing and I feel very lucky!

It's been awhile since I posted. I've been reading though & seems like everyone is doing good! I've still been having frequent u/s (every 1 to 2 weeks), my bleed is healing but it's still there. I guess they're not too worried about it anymore though. I really wanted to stop my Progesterone this week. My OB is very nervous, but said OK. She gave me her personal beeper number and said to call anytime. She says she NEVER gives it out unless the person is in labor so she said not to lose it :) I'm so glad to not have to do the IM shots anymore!! My tush is glad too :) So far, no cramping or spotting, so that's good. I've finally been released to start going back to work (desk job only)!!!! I'm very excited about getting out in the world again & being a contributing member of society! My babies are doing really well. They still say they're "big" for their age, which is good I guess. I wasn't ever offered the NT scan & always forget to ask about it. I think it's too late now. My next appt is in 2 weeks. Oh well. I've started wearing maternity clothes now. And I'm almost as big as my sister who is 23 weeks with a singleton! I'm sure I'll be passing her at some point.

Molly: Hope everything looked good on your u/s and NT scan. Let us know!

Barb: I've been thinking of you and your babies :) Hang in there & think positive! Hope you start feeling better soon.

Joannet: I'm in the same boat. Nausea/vomiting is hanging on. Hope it's over for both of us in the next couple weeks!!!

Summerbaby: How was your u/s?

Barb - good to hear that although a bit uncomfortable, that you are well. Are you still working or are you at home? Thinking of you and your babies. Take good care!

amelu - welcome! What a nice big surprise you got, to get pregnant naturally after such a long road with ivf -- Wishing you all the best!

shelly - glad to hear your bleed is healing and that your babies are growing and developing well! Do hope your nausea eases up soon! I think I read that they can do the NT scan up to 14 weeks. Best of luck with your next scan in 2 weeks time.

My scan went well yesterday. The baby is measuring pretty much on schedule. There is still a fibroid posing a threat, but so far everything looks like it will work out. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
We had to wait a long time to get in to see the doctor, it is always that way the week after she comes back from vacation! And, they were having some computer problems -- which DH was able to help them with -- so at least it passed the time a little bit faster for him. He can only read so many gossip magazines a month! :D
I don't know about you, but I am still amazed every time we see the baby on the screen, especially now that it moves so much!
Now we've graduated from going every 2 weeks, to every 3 weeks. And by next time, I can finally stop taking the meds! But, at least I only have oral and suppositories to deal with, and no shots.

How is everyone else doing? Have a great weekend. I think here where I am, spring is finally here to stay for a while! Hooray!

Take care of yourselves and your little pumpkins,
xx summer
