Hello everyone. I don't have time for personals but promise I will write them later.

I just want you guys to know my NT Scan went great, and all the measurements were within range. I won't have the blood back until this week, and that will be the final results. They said I have part two of the NT Scan at 18 weeks. Seeing my babies is always so amazing.

Glad you’re hanging in there. Bedrest at 20 weeks sounds tough, but at least you’ll be well rested when it’s time to care for your three new babies.

Amelu
Welcome. So many little ones at once will be a challenge, but with twins in your family, I’m sure you’re already an expert multi-tasker.

shelleyj5
Sounds like you’re doing great. I definitely don’t miss the progesterone. I do miss the frequent u/s. I think when we start to feel movement, it’ll be great. Now, it’s just a constant state of hoping everything is still going well.

Summerbaby

Glad to hear your scan went well. It’s starting to feel real, isn’t it? MY DH is always a nervous wreak in the waiting room.

I’ll have my amnio on Thursday. It did occur to me that this probably means we’ll learn the gender – which feels so crazy.

How are the rest of you holding up? Some of you have been so quiet.

Hi Molly - so glad to hear the NT scan went so well! When do you go back again for your next scan?

Siouxsie - About waiting to see the doctor -- my DH is the same way, nervous till he hears the heartbeat again!... Best of luck with your amnio this week. I'll be thinking about you and keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well with the test and the results. Mine won't be until around week 17. Yes, you can/will find out the gender. But, I also think you can say you don't want to know. My DH really wants it to be a surprise -- We'll see if it stays that way. I would guess at a certain point, even in the ultrasound, it might become obvious -- ?

Has anyone felt any movement yet? I am really looking forward to that, even though I have no idea what to expect.

How are the rest of the October moms-to-be feeling?

Take good care and have a great week,
xx summer

Hi everyone

Post by joannet »

Good Tuesday morning to everyone. I hope that you are all having a great week.

My morning sickness has finally started to go away. It is getting much easier to manage. I have the funniest story, my little boy who is 3 tells me, breath mommy when I start gagging. It is quite funny.

shelleyj5 - I hope your morning sickness goes away soon too.

summerbaby - my little boy's 3 going on 18. He is quite a character and is quite anxious for his baby sister and baby brother to arrive. (we don't know yet about the sexes but he is quite sure there is a boy and a girl). He asks almost daily when the babies are coming out of mommy's tummy.

molly23 - I spoke to my OB about the timing of the C section and he says that they schedule you after the 38th week for the C section. Anytime before that will be because of complications, which I am hope we all do not have to think about, much less live through. I am hoping to keep my bundles in as long as possible too, but I am already quite big I can only imagine how big I will be at the end :D

I hope everyone else is well. I see my Perinatologist on Monday. I am kinda hoping to find out the sexes early....crossing all my fingures and toes......

Molly, are you seeing a Perinatologist? if so, How often are you required to go? I am going once a month, but it is costing quite a pretty penny. I know we are suppose to be prepared for the additional cost, after IVF but sometimes I wonder why the dual care between my OB (which is covered by my insurance company 100%) and the Perinatologist......

Ok, better get back to work. I hope everyone has a wonderful week. I am already looking forward to the weekend.

siouxsie - best of luck on Thursday with your appt!

joannet - your son sounds like a pretty funny and sweet little guy. I'm sure he'll be a wonderful big brother and will help you as much as he can! :D

It is too bad that the Perinatologist visits aren't covered by your insurance. Although we have public health care here in Germany, a lot of things here are also now seen as "elective" and one has to pay out of pocket. It adds up quickly!

Barb, Molly, shelley and anyone I might have missed - hope all is well!

May 1st is a holiday here, so we are looking forward to a nice long weekend!

Take good care everyone,
xx summer

Hello all October Mommies, I am glad to hear all is going well with you guys.

I am not working anymore, since they think I am developing pre-eclampsia. They are putting me on meds for the high blood pressure to see if it works then they might release me to do sit down work until atleast my 20th weeks. The good news is that all THREE babies are doing well and growing like weeds. I go to the Perinatalogist once a week for a blood pressure check and a quick fetal tone. They u/s tech said they were about 4oz each which to me seems like a lot but I don't really know how much they are suppose to weigh at this point.

I am still having all day sickness but they said it will probably happen the entire pregnancy since I don't really have much room in my stomach plus I am suppose to eat atleast 5000 calories a day for all three of my little guys. By the end of this pregancy I will HATE to eat ever again.

I am also hoping to carry till atleast 32 plus weeks but I am pretty big know so just lets keep our toes, fingers, and legs crossed that I make it.

Sorry I did not do personals.

Hello Everyone!

BarbD- I am so happy to hear all 3 of your babies are doing good. I am sorry about the bed rest, and I hope your blood pressure levels out soon, and you can return to work. How does your work handle bed rest, and then maternity leave?

summerbaby- It is nice you have a holiday on Friday. How are you doing with your pregnancy?

joannet- yeah I am really hoping I make it to 38 weeks. I have only seen a Perinatologist once, and my insurance covers it. How are your babies doing?

siouxsie- How are you doing?

Two more weeks for me until my next visit to the doctor, and it is killing me. We were so spoiled at the RE, and now these once a month visits make me worry about everything. I have the 2nd part of my NT scan on the 15th, and I cannot wait until the ultrasound. I am barely showing which also makes me worry. I use to not worry so much. LOL

Has anyone found out the genders of their babies yet?

Hi everyone!

Hello Barb! - so nice to get an update from you and to hear that all of your babies are doing so well! Really put a smile on my face this afternoon to read that. I was just wondering if you couldn't possibly take in extra calories with some kind of calorie and good-for-you rich kind of shake -- so, you don't have to try and actually eat all those extra calories each and every day...Like something they give to older people who don't want to or can't eat anymore, but need the nutrients -- ??
Glad you are being carefully watched over! Please take good care of yourself and I hope your blood pressure comes down. Got my fingers crossed for you that your pregnancy lasts a good long time and that you won't be meeting your babies till you are good and ready! :D

Hi Molly, I also worry in between visits! After leaving the doctor, I always feel so great, then the feeling of uncertainty creeps in...and I get so nervous just before my appt...and when everything is fine, it starts all over again!! I know exactly what you mean, because I really wasn't a big worrier either -- and now?? I really do try to keep up my PMA, but sometimes my worry gets the better of me!
Good luck with waiting for your next appt! Mine is on the 14th, one day before you --

Hope everyone else is feeling fine, or at least better than they have been the last few weeks! I have more energy and that is really great.

Take good care of yourselves and your growing bundles of joy,
xx summer

Happy to hear your NT went great.

Did you ever get that Doppler? How’s it working out?

I’m starting to feel calmer, but DH is worried all the time. I’m teasing him that he’ll have to relax once the baby’s born – I don’t want tto raise a child with a neurotic father, Still, I can relate to you. That’s why I think it’ll be nice when we can feel the kicking - that’s a sign everything is okay.

I am at that awkward point where most of my clothes don’t fit, but it feels too early for maternity. I think I’m only rotating about three outfits at work. I also have tremendous cleavage in some shirts which were perfectly modest before.

Summerbaby
Thanks for the good thoughts.

The "What to Expect" book says it can be hard to recognize movement at first. I am really looking forward to that moment.

Have a nice holiday – I could use another day off myself.

I went for the amnio this morning, It is a huge relief to get it over with. Honestly, it was better than I expected. First, dr. and her asst. spent a while just on u/s -- took lots of measurements: skull, stomach, femur, hb… All looked as they should. The baby was doing a lot of waving. S/he’s about 4 oz! Then, dr. figured the best spot to get a good angle away from the baby. She rubbed iodine all over my stomach then gave me a shot of anesthesia. After that, she inserted a hollow needle. There was a pulling sensation when it went through the uterine wall. It wasn’t too painful, but it was a very odd sensation. In some ways, all the madness of IVF made this seem almost routine. Then, she drew out two tubes full of fluid. It was yellow and more than I expected. She labeled them, showed both DH and I that the labels were correct and that was it. We’ll get results by phone in two weeks.

Oh, and, she thinks it’s likely a boy, although we’ll know for sure when we get the results. Apparently, he’s somewhat shy. At first I wanted it to be a surprise, but as I thought about it I realized that I really do want to know. I think it’ll make it real earlier. Plus, I can prepare better. And, why not, since the medical knowledge is there.

I peeked at my chart while she was out of the room, and saw that she recommends I get u/s at every visit due to my past history so that’s exciting.

Afterwards, DH and I went out to breakfast and I’ve spent the rest of the day in bed, watching movies and taking it easy. Dr. said it’s okay to do my prenatal yoga tomorrow, but I’m thinking I’ll skip it just to be extra cautious.

joannet
Glad you’re feeling better.

I’m now feeling very lucky about my HMO. They fall done on a lot of thing (like IVF), but all me prenatal care (inc. perintologist) is covered in one co-pay. I just have to pay for the hospital stay.

BarbD
Wow. Thrilled that all three of your babies are thriving. As your ticker says, only 179 days to go!

Thanks Everyone, I am also feeling a lot better now that the first trimester is over! I am still tired but I just nap when my girls nap :)

Barbd, I had pre-e with my twins and the bedrest as hard as it was really helped me keep them in as long as I did. I also drank ensure protein shakes each morning and each night before bed, they are an easy way to get calories and protein. I didn't know this but protein rich food really helps the baby(ies) gain weight. Good luck I just had a friend carry her trio until almost 35 weeks so it can definately be done.

Hi Ladies,
I know I have missing in action for a while, been extremely busy and really nothing new to report from me. I did have my first ob appt on Friday. It went fine. They didn't do an u/s, just hb check. But they said they wont be doing u/s since I will be seeing the peri that I will just get all of them there. I am going next week to the peri to start cervix checks and my anatomy scan. We are waiting to find out the sex when the baby arrives. One week (16 weeks) from now is when I started bedrest with twins. Ugg....hard to believe.

Glad to see everyone is doing well and feeling better. Anyone find out the sex soon?

Hi,
glad everyone seems to be doing well and feeling better!

siouxsie - thanks for the great description of the amnio - at least I have a better idea now, how things go during the procedure. Glad all is well with you. Rest up and take good care of yourself. Hope this current 2ww for the results, won't feel like 2 weeks, but just a few days instead! :D Maybe after you have your positive results in your hand, then DH can relax a bit and start enjoying this pregnancy along with you.

twinmom - tell me, is it hard not to find out the sex? My DH doesn't want to know and I've said that is okay.
I have to say, that knowing has its advantages in terms of getting things ready -- but there is something nice about surprises...

Have a great week Barb, Amelu, Molly, Joannet, Shelley and anyone I might have missed! Looking forward to hearing what everyone is having when the time comes to find out! And also to hear when anyone has felt any movement --

Hi everyone -
Hope you are all feeling fine these days.

I have a question - Is anyone taking DHA along with their prenatal vitamin? And if so, are you taking it as a soft tablet, kind of like a vitamin E pill? I am having such a hard time with it -- I was just wondering if anyone was taking it in any other kind of form, or know of any other options.

thanks! xx summer

Hi summerbaby,

I'm taking DHA at suggestion of RE. The ones I'm getting are algae based rather than fish based. It is a soft tablet -- I'm not sure how E comes, but it's liquid w/ a clear casing. I vary brands according to what's on sale, and haven't had any problems.

Hi siouxsie,
thanks for your response. Without going into detail, it is the fish part that I am having trouble with -- Do you think you could give me the name/brands that you are using and maybe I will have better luck...
Thanks. xx summer
