FFZ - The injections are going fine. No bad side effects yet. Yesterday was my last day on BC, so now I am just waiting on AF. I was directed to cont lupron injections and schedule and appt for Day 2 or 3. They are supposed to call me w/ results and let me know what day to start the other meds, at which point you stop taking the Lupron. My concern is whether or not I have enough Lupron to make it till then. The jar looks so small, but I guess they know...
Ikiban - how are you feeling?

Good evening ladies. I enjoy reading all your updates and blogs. It's nice that we have this forum to share our stories.

dixie_chop & FFZ : So I finally had the class this morning and I got my DH to inject me with Lupron...literally 10 minutes ago. I just couldn't do it  I read from other threads that the stomach hurts the least. So in spite of my hesitation, I decided this would be a good spot. It didn't hurt as much as I thought when puncturing but the area is now a bit sore.

Not sure if any of you had an U/S for fibroids, cysts etc. before starting Lupron? In my package, you're suppose to get one done between the day you start and 7 days in. The lady who hosted the class said some patients get one done before to make sure that they don't have any cysts or issues instead of starting and then stopping Lupron. This makes a lot of sense.

The lab is just below my clinic so I went and booked an U/S this afternoon. I have a "15 mm intramural fibroid" which is not a concern but I also have a "physiologic cyst" measuring 2.0 x 1.6 x 2.2 cm on my right ovary. Don't know how serious this is.

None of the doctors at IVF were present to review the lab results. The receptionist said I'm not suppose to have an U/S until after I start Lupron injections. Lots of mixed messages going on today. I decided after reading what I can make of the test results, that I should start as scheduled.

Ikiban - that is so frustrating. I think there is a great deal of breakdown in medicine today. First, because the comunication stinks and people are so often left confused on what their protocol is. And two, because they give out results like that but then don't tell you what it means and let you sit and wonder. I had a similar experience when I was diagnosed with Hashi's disease. They said they saw a lump on my thyroid glad, ran a test, and didn't give me the results till 2 weeks later! Hopefully you will get your answers soon. good luck!
As for the injections, yes stomach is the the best. I don't have any soresness at the site, maybe he stabbed it too hard?
As for U/S protocol... I haven't been in this whole time for anything. They started the BC a few weeks ago, then the Lupron...then stop BC and I was told to go in on day 2 or 3 of AF. This is second day w/o BC, so I am thinking AF will come tomorrow or saturday. I was feeling fine until this morning, I am really getting crampy. I usually get cramps but not until day 1, so I am sure they are starting earl b/c of the Lupron. There not horrible but enough that I will probably take a motrin.
Keep us updated on your U/S results.

hey dixie_chop,

could you not request for an U/S to be done? how long ago was your last U/S? I am relieved that I had it done before Lupron. I'm no doctor but I think that women's bodies change and it just seems to be good practise to know what you are starting with before journeying. You'll be getting one done soon since your AF is coming. Try drinking warm water or keep a hot water bottle on your tummy to ease the cramps. They are awful for me too during the first few days leading to my AF.

The clinic called and said to continue protocol after reviewing the results. The 2nd injection is not as sore...stomach area again.

You're right about the lack of communication that is given by doctors. I didn't even know i have a fibroid or a cyst on my ovary. I googled all the terminology and felt more positive that these were not serious.

FFZ - how are you making out?

Eve2860 - good luck with your procedure.

I was kinda surprised about the US as well, but I am not to worried about it. This is standard protocol for them so I am going with it.
The cramps are definitely getting worse. Its weird though b/c they aren't really the normal cramps that I get. Its achy and it radiants down my legs. I would imagine this is what restless leg syndrome feels like. Hurry up AF!!!!
Glad your second injection went better. And that you are able to cont protocol. We will probably be going to our US within a day or two of one another. we should have our ER dates soon!!!!

Hi Dixie_chop,

Sorry to hear about your cramps. Lets hope it goes away. Maybe it is induced by a bit of stress?

When is your expected ER? My period the past 2 months is somewhat off but I estimated May 17/18.

Hello Ladies,
Hope you had good weekend since mine has been terrible. I have been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (chronic bowel disease) few years ago. Due to this chronic illness I also have arthritis. I was in remission for few months but these days I have flare up, very bad join pain. Wanted to see my rheumatologist but he is out of country for a month. I fell very bad a lot of pain and I’m very scared the effect this will have on the IVF.
I have appointment with clinic on Wednesday and I pray that they will let me continue with procedure since I’m still on BCP and I have time to start medication to put arthritis in remission. I’m just feeling very down, I cried a lot list night….
Ikiban-how are you doing on injections, do you know how many days you have to take them …
Dixie_chop- Have you got your AF yet, sorry to hear about cramps, I always have bad cramps before AF I know how it is

Oohhh FFZ! I am so sorry you are going through all these obstacles. I thought my hurdles were too many to keep jumping over. A huge hug to you. The good thing is, if you are not able to continue your treatment due to this, it's just a small delay. It's easier said than done but try to take it easy and as stress-free as possible. 8)

Injections are going well. I've been tired lately but nothing serious. Very nervous inside about the outcome of this treatment. I've been disappointed and sad every month for the past 7 years TTC. I'm now a cautious optimist as I am sure all the women on this site are.

Hang in there ladies! Looking forward to hearing many BFPs.
