Charr: I know the feeling about the wait. when I went in for my last u/s, like I already said, first he couldn't find the heartbeat, then I thought I heard him say " the baby is dead". I'm glad everything went well with yours.
Sueqiwi: congrats on the good results of your test! It's awesome.
NOW I HAVE A QuESTION FOR ALL OF YOU: I always had my u/s on mondays. The first ohe was at week 6 and I was told the baby is 6 weeks old. The next one was at week 7, and the baby was 7 weeks and 1 day. The 9week u/s, they told me it was 9 week and 3 days. Finally, on the 10 week u/s, it was 10 week and 6 days. I didn't think of asking the OB about this but how could that be, gaining days when the u/s falls on the same day. Any feedbacks?
SueQiwi - I'm so glad to hear your tests went well and you are feeling more confident and happy about it. You make me so excited for my next u/s! I have a week-by-week book a friend gave me with actual size pictures for every week, and it has been incredible to see how much he/she will have changed by next week. My husband and I are very particular about only pulling the book out again on Wednesday, for the exact anniversary of each week. I can't wait to see an actual little person instead of the bean (as cute as the bean was!)
nancy1 - I think that at ultrasounds they base the age on the measurements rather than the conception date. Even at my fertility doctor when I went in at exactly 7 weeks the ultrasound said 6w5d because my bean was measuring a little small - and they certainly knew exactly when I conceived! Sounds like your little one may just be measuring a little bigger.
Speaking of bigger - According to my book I will be "anxious to show but there won't be much of a change, except my clothes may be fitting a little tighter." Ha, try again. I am anxious NOT to show, but I can't close any of my pants. I'm wearing a pencil skirt today because I can close it over the bump, but under the loose top I look like a snake that swallowed a bowling ball.

WONDERCAT: that makes total sense regarding the u/s. As far as your clothes are concerned, you're lucky you're not showing even though your clothes are tight. My tummy is definitely bigger and I can't wear anything but maternity stuff at this point. And that's making it very hard to keep things hush hush....
Anyhow, best of luck on your next u/s! Let me know how it goes.
Nancy
nancy1 - No, no. Believe me, I'm showing. "Snake that swallowed a bowling ball" is not a subtle look - or an exaggeration. It wasn't pretty, and I just can't imagine my co-workers haven't noticed. I think they're just too polite to ask, but I'm not saying anything until everything looks good at next week's u/s.

PS - Getting down in front of the toilet at work to be sick is NOT easy when squeezed into a pencil skirt like a snake that swallowed a bowling ball. I don't recommend it.

Ok, now I feel better! :-) I thought you weren't showing much and was thinking, "boy she's lucky"!
It's also becoming harder and harder to move!
I think by next week I'll invest in some new bras! Those have definitely become MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH bigger!!!
Co-workers: some suspect it I think since I've cut down on coffee, r I should say eliminated it. I told them it was because I had abnormal liver enzymes, which I did for a while, but totally unrelated. Oh well, little lie never hurt no one, right?
Have a great day.
Nancy
PS Haven't heard from the other ladies for a while....
We had our ultrasound last night and all looks great! The arms and legs were flapping all around. I told my husband that the kid is just like me -- can't sit still! The doctor said it looked like the baby was doing somersalts!
He zoomed in on the head (the little nose is the cutest thing I have ever seen). Right as he zoomed, a little hand shot up and starting moving around. I told my husband the baby was waving at us, but he was not convinced. Regardless, it was very cute!
The neck measurement was very thin, so that was a relief. We cannot do any of the first trimester testing - it would all come up problematic since we lost the twin, so we now wait until the amnio at 16 weeks. And we have a whole TWO weeks until our next ultrasound!!!!! I am actually excited about the little break!
Wondercat - feel better!
SueQiwi - congrats on the good test.
I have been lucky lately - the nausea is going down a bit and no more vomitting. My clothes also mostly fit - I think I just look like I put on a few pounds. My mom's good friend asked her "She seems to have a little pouch, is she pregnanct?" And my mom shot back with "No, she's just fat!" Thanks Mom - at least she is quick!
We are at 11 weeks, but are going to wait a bit more to tell people. I feel like the right time will feel right, and we aren't there yet - it has been too rocky a road!
EXCITED: Congrats on the test results! I am sure it was an amazing experience to see the little one moving all over!!!
I have a question for you: I too lost my twin at week 6. Which tests would you NOT be able to do during the first trimester as it would affect the test results?
We, too, lost one of our twins and I'm curious as to why you can't do the first trimester screening or CVS. My peri has recommended I have a CVS next week and I'll be 13w4d. For those of you that have chosen amnio over CVS, could you share your reasons or thoughts as to why? I know the risk is said to be higher with CVS. I'm so nervous about these tests and something happening to the baby. The nuchal fold was very thin but we don't have the results from the bloodwork back so don't have any true numbers to go on yet.
Second, I'm wondering for those of you who also experienced the loss of a multiple, has that sac disappeared yet? My peri was stumped as to why mine still remains and actually had grown since the loss.
I lost the second twin at 10 weeks. Apparently, a loss of a twin before 8 weeks allows you to do the first trimester screening, CVS, etc. But a loss after 8 weeks would make those tests read as abnormal, so they are not an option for me - but would be for you.
Amnio is our only option and the doctor feels strongly we should do it, given that with this twin, I have lost three pregnancies.
When I thought CVS was an option, I was still leaning toward amnio for me. The risks of CVS are higher in general, but also higher for IVF cycles. For us, we had thought the wait of three more weeks for the amnio was a better option than CVS - but if the doctor had reasons for doing CVS, I would definitely have done it. I have many friends who have done it and all have fine (but none I know of after CVS).
I did not even ask about the second sac, and the doctor did not say anything, but I will at the next U/S.
Excited: Thanks for the info. I guess my only options is amnio now which is what I wanted to do given thart CVS has higher risks. Congrats on your results by the way!!!
Charr: 3 weeks after my miscarriage, there was very little blood collectioln in the uterus, however my OB didn't say anything about the sac for the lost twin being still there or not.
Charr: The main benefit to CVS that I see, is that it can be done earlier in pregnancy than the amnio. DH and I have already decided that we wouldn't abort in any circumstance, so would rather choose the less risky amnio a little later. Did your Peri give you a reason why he/she recommends a CVS instead of an amnio?
Excited: Congrats on your awesome US! I had one the other day and the triplets looked like they were dancing. The identical twins looked more like they were punching each other. It was so cute.
nancy: Ultrasounds are accurate plus or minus a week. Sounds liek your baby is growing right on schedule!
sue: glad your NT screen went well! It's always a good day to see the baby!
Wondercat: Sounds like it's time to invest in a maternity pencil skirt, you poor thing! I'm all about comfort these days. I hope the nausea starts going away soon for both of us. PLEASE don't let either of us be one of those pregnant women with 40 weeks of nausea!
DH and I took a few days to be alone and went to the beach last week. it was just what we needed. Now, I'm back at work and super busy, but I'm always checking in to see how everyone is doing.
I don't see the Dr until next Friday the 15. Such a long wait!
Question for you ladies- I seem to get fairly sore in my hip area most days. It could be the whole area shifting and stretching. Anyone else feel sore in their hips?
Also, the last few days I've been feeling very heavy in my pelvic area, and I feel like I have to pee all the dang time. Anyone else at this point yet? Seems kinda soon, since I feel like I've got a long ways to go!
wondercat are you feeling better? I hear you on the snake/bowling ball thing. It's now pretty hard to "hide" it for me!
