AmandaM - your information is so informative. You have answered some of my questions in the past on PGD. But this time I was wondering how they changed your stimming in the 3rd cycle?

My doctor thinks I have egg quality issues as well. We get a ton of eggs each time that go to great blasts, but I have had 3 chemicals. We are doing PGD this time as well.

How did they change the stimming to improve the quality? Thanks and congratulations to you and your DH! :-)

Hi Amanda....Glad u got the chance to go shopping yourself and i bet u really enjoyed it, especially that u had 2 look for boys and girls clothes at the same time :D

Sorry 2 hear that u had bleeding yesterday :( but the good thing is that it wasn't the placenta....Hope u won't have it again though!!

Haven't started the process yet as we r still waiting 4 the DNA analysis.... Can I ask u what RE stands 4 ? I know I'll get familiar with such abbreviations once I start the process.

u've mentioned before that the cycle starts by taking 2 weeks of Lupron after the BCP. Do u remember if that started at a specific time before or after ur period?

u look after yourself and make sure u have a lot of rest

Glad you found it helpful. I also produced a lot of eggs and my hormones went crazy. The changes were no BCP and also taking a growth hormone for 4 days(stopping at the day before retrieval). Also, he lowered the stim dose to keep my hormones a little lower. His goal was to get fewer better eggs. I had a lot of really great blasts with these changes, but couldn't use a lot of them with the genetic screening.

RE stands for reproductive endroconlogist. (Spelling?)

That's right. I remember now that u were waiting for the DNA to come back. I've been tired to last few days. I hope it doesnt happen again too, but am prepared that it is a possibility. When do u think u will get the results back?

Amanda.....thanks for your help with what RE stands for. I don't think I would've guessed that in a million years  !!!!!

Expecting results to be back by June. Too long to wait!!!! Hoping that they won't take that long but most people on this message board said their blood work took around 3 months.

Let me ask u this again....do u remember if u had 2 start Lupron at a specific time before or after ur period?? It's just that I'm trying 2 know as much as I can about the whole procedure so I can be really pushy with the hospital once the results r back. It's a private hospital but seems that time isn't a big issue for them but for us every day counts now! For example, they didn't ask for the blood tests till I rang more than 4 times asking what needed to be done to start the procedure, so we had them done 8 weeks after we got the funding, which if were done straight away, would've been ready soon.

Let's talk about u now....how r u spending your time these days? Watching lots of TV and reading about how to look after newborn babies  ????

By the way, I love the countdown ticker you've put on the bottom of your signature and every time I read your messages, I check how many days are left :D

Have lots of rest and take good care of yourself.

I know it feels like forever waiting. Hang in there though :) Starting the Lupron can vary slightly. They are trying to get your schedule on their schedule. It is usually 3 weeks give or take a few days for the first day of your last period. I'm sorry the hospital is like they. Sometimes they dont understand how much of and emotional issue it is on out end. My hospital was like that on Monday when I went in for bleeding. They were asking why I was there. I completely understand you wanting to know as much as you can, I am the same way. I am the same way about the pregnancy and child birth.

I have been watching way more tv than any person needs to see. I also have been reading some magazines. I have been tired from not sleeping well due to being worried about it coming back so I havent been able to get into a book. My mom and dad live in a different state than me. My Mom can down to help and my mother in law is here this week helping. And my father is coming next week. So I have also been visiting with them.

I'm glad you like the ticker :). You will have one too soon, I have a good feeling :). I don't think I will make it to 40 weeks though. Most times are born 37-38 weeks. And with the complications it might be even sooner. It's exciting to think it a few weeks I'll be a mom :).

So you live in London? I have always wanted to go there.

Amanda...hope you slept well in the last two days. Glad you always have people around to look after you. I'm sure your DH is taking a good care of you too :D

Let me first wish you a very Happy Mother's Day. It's this Sunday in the UK. Is it the same in the States? Hope next year you'll be celebrating with the twins

We live in Manchester which is around 300km away from London but we are having the treatment in London as PGD is not available in Manchester yet. We go there by train when we have a hospital appointment....takes around 2 hours which isn't that bad.

Now let me ask you my new question....I've read recently that the first medicine given to stimulate the ovaries can be taken as either a nasal spray or an injection under the skin on the thigh or tummy which the woman or her partner can be taught how to do. Will be please tell me about your experience with this.

Have a nice weekend.

Hey BH

Sorry I haven't replied in a few days. I have been good. No more bleeding incidents, which is a relief. Every day farther I get is better for the babies.

Mother's day is in May in the US. I am sure my babies will be here by now.

PGD isn't available at every clinic in the US either. We just got lucky that our clinic did it and was one of the best clinics in the country.

I haven't heard about a nasal spray for stimulation medicine. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it was though. All of my medicines were through injections. The thought of the injections are worse than the actual shots. They are small needles, like the ones that diabtics use.

I hope you had a nice weekend. I enjoy hearing from you, it makes bed rest more exciting. Don't worry, your test results will come back sooner than you think and before you know it you will be a Mom. Have you both already been checked for fertility issues? If if ist just PGD then it will be a lot easier to get pregnant too.

Hugs
Amanda

Hey Amanda....I was just a little worried about you especially after you had bleeding last week. Soooo glad everything is alright :D.

It's great that Mother's day is in May in the US…by that time you'll have the babies to celebrate with you

Now let me tell u my story from the beginning:

My DH and I started trying for a baby around 4 years ago but after a year of nothing, we started all the tests which showed that there was nothing wrong with either of us so the consultant decided to put it as unexplained infertility! It was positive and comforting to know that we were healthy but still it was difficult to have all those tests and not get any reasons to start a treatment at the end. However, we believed that
it would happen when the time was right!

Fifteen months later, we saw the consultant again because by that time it started getting harder with every passing month. We were put on the waiting list for an IVF treatment but what happened was I got pregnant naturally the next month!!! We were thrilled when we found out and even more ecstatic and relieved after I did the Ammnio test at week 15 to find out that we didn’t pass the genetic condition to our baby!! Unfortunately, that excitement didn't last long as I had a m/c and lost our little girl when I was 19 weeks (and 4 days)!! They didn't find any reason for that though!

Losing her was and is still devastating and very hard to come to terms to!!! It has now been almost a year since we've lost her and yet it still feels as if it happened yesterday. I have been on a roller coaster of emotions - sometimes I feel normal.... other times so angry or depressed!

My DH has been very supportive, and knowing that I could always lean on him for comfort and love, made our relationship grew stronger. We both believe that having her for that short time was the most amazing thing that happened to us ever!!! Although sickness was so bad, we still enjoyed every single minute of my pregnancy!!! There's not one day we don't think of her, talk about her and miss her!

PGD wasn’t introduced to us till after the m/c which was when we were explaining to our GP how difficult it would be to have to do the Ammnio test if I got pregnant again!! The thought of not being as lucky as we were with the test the first time was unbearable! Therefore; we found that PGD would be the answer to all our fears and anxieties :).

I hope I didn't bore you too much with my story!

Your posts have given me a very big hope and made me more positive about the whole process so please keep me posted :D

Look after yourself.

Hey

I am happy to hear your story. I am so sorry you experienced that loss. It is so terrible. That means that you can get pregnant though which is a good thing:)

We felt the same devastation when we had our chemical pregnancies so I can only imagine what we felt if a fraction of what you feel losing her so far into the pregnancy.

PGD is a wonderful opportunity to prevent passing on some very serious conditions. Since we have not done Amnio we will have the babies tested a few months after they are born. There is only a 1-3% chance of an error, but we are obligated to tell the PGD testing people the results.

In other news, I am thinking I will pack my bag for the hospital over the next week. It's better to be prepared. Especially with the bleeding incidents, I want to be ready in case they decide to deliver my God forbid it happen again.

Enjoy your time with your hubby while you wait for the results. Before you know it you will be parents. With all the people that have been here helping with my bedrest we haven't had any time alone for a few weeks,

How's the mum to be doing :D? Hope everything is going well and you're getting enough rest.

I've been trying to keep myself as busy as possible to make the waiting time go faster. Going to work does help but still it feels like forever  ....especially when I find myself, almost every other day, counting how long it's been since we had the blood tests!! By the way, how long did you have to wait between cycles?

I bet it's sooooo exciting to pack your bag for the hospital, isn't it? However, hope you won't need to go there before another few weeks . Will you be going to the same hospital where you've had the IVF/PGD?

We've talked about the injections before...just wondering did you give yourself your injections or did your DH or someone else give them to you??

Try and get enough rest and sleep because once the babies arrive, you'll be too tired and busy because I'm sure you won't want to put them down !!!!

Amanda - I was also wondering how you were doing. Hope those little babies are good. I have been thinking a lot about all the girls from the August thread. Everyone should be giving birth in the next month or so and that is if they haven't gone into labor early. Best wishes to you.

Hi Girls

Sorry I haven't written in so long. My hands began hurting so much from swelling that I stopped using my computer. Then I had my babies on April 23 and haven't had any time :)

Their names are Garrett Allen and Gabrielle Alexa. They were 4lbs 5oz and 4lbs 12oz at birth. Everyone is doing well. I hope everything is going ok with you both.

I am anxious to hear your updates
