Natural Frozen Embryo Transfer

Post by rubbermoon »

Hello there,

It's been over 2.5 years since I last posted and so I don't even remember what my last username and password was. LOL

Anyway, my daughter is now 2 (IVF baby) and we are going through a FET (we have one 6 day blast frozen from last cycle). I am trying to stay positive but I think the chance of it surviving the thaw is low...

Does anyone have a success story that they would like to share? :)

Thanks!

Natural?

Post by alwayshoped »

Hi, I'm planning on a 3rd natural FET in a few weeks and wondered if you are doing a natural meaning no meds and timing the transfer by opk's, blood work and ultrasound? If so could I ask you a few questions? I'm a little concerned about my FET timing. :?

Thanks and good luck!

Hi there,

Yes, I did go through a natural cycle, thus no drug and just depend on the ovulation kit. I did have to start taking Doxycycline and Prometrium though after LH surge. :) Let me know if I can answer any questions for you. :)
Age 34, DH 37
Male Factor
1st IVF - OHSS 12/05
FET - BFN 3/06
2nd IVF - BFP 07/06 (One frozen stored)

Questions

Yes, thank you for responding.

Where are you in your cycle right now? Did your little one survive the thaw? Have you been successful yet? I hope so! :D We are taking this month off to regroup.

I was questioning the timing of my transfers because I had 2 transfers one in April & one in May. My transfers were done 6 days after I showed ovulation but I got my period 6 days after the transfers which would be 12 days past ovulation. Looks like my luteal phase may be short or that I am actually ovulating before they think I am which I doubt since I've also done blood work and ultrasound to determine that.

I knew right off the bat the first time I got my period that something wasn't right but the RE didn't agree that there was any concern, after the second BFN I brought it up again and he agrees that the short time between transfer and period aren't normal and wants to put me on estrogen and progesterone next cycle.

I guess I just wanted someones opinion on this who is also doing 'natural'. What has your experience been? Would you be concerned about the fact that a period came so soon after a transfer?

I'm also beginning to wonder if this may have been my problem all these years and that no one ever caught it??? :? I guess that's neither here nor there though since what we want now is to give each of our frozen embryos a chance. I had 10 total but am now down to 5 since 3 didn't make the thaw and 2 resulted in BFN.

TIA!

I think you may be having a luteal phase defect, basically a short luteal phase, in which your corpus luteum in the ovary produces less progesterone than enough to support an implanting pregnancy. The diagnosis is based on BW with low progesterone levels in the mid-luteal phase.

So a medicated FET cycle, rather than a natural FET may help with all the nice progesterone support. But, your doc would know the best.

Good luck and prayers ur way ! :)
