Ghost question for you, or anyone that knows

Post by Neffi211 »

An update on me.....I have a 13 week old son after our third fresh IVF cycle worked. We just cycled again and got a BFN. We are doing this so soon becasue we are losing DHs insurance and all infertility coverage! Anyway, usually RE wants to evaluate the uterus after giving birth before transferring again, but they made an exception for me due to the circumstances....since it didn't work this time, RE will not transfer again until the eval is done. But since we still have insurance we were going to go right into another fresh cycle as soon as my period came. I got a call today to say the only way to do the eval of the uterus and continue with the cycle is to use Ganirelix as soon as AF arrives until the bleeding stops and then start stimming after that. Have you ever heard of this protocol? RE said it's not used commonly just becasue most people are not in my situatuion. I just wanted your feed back? RE said this shouldn't change the outcome of this cycle at all, but I'm worried changing anything! They only thing he said may change is how long I may stim after using the ganirelix at the beginning. Thanks
Me 32 DH 31
DS 3rd try
8 failed cycles
No luck with adoption

It's been published, and appears to work according to the published reports. We tried it and got several biochemical pregnancies. So we stopped using it based on maybe 15 cycles. Too small to be conclusive, I suppose.

You're not breastfeeding, right?

No Im not breastfeeding....my milk never came in.....its funny how things work ou sometimes. I wouldn't have given up breastfeeding for this, but since it just didnt work, I have this opportunity. So it looks like this protocol didnt work out for you at your clinic? Do you think its worth trying? I already had 1 chemical?

The short answer is that I have no idea. It did not seem to work for us in a small sample, but others claim it works for them.

Freeze All

Post by Pier2043 »

Neffi:

I was facing the same issue as you back in Aug. when my DD was just six months old. I thought I was going to lose my fertility insurance, so we quickly did a Freeze all cycle. Figuring that an FET was less $$$ than a fresh cycle and wanting to bank some more embryos. We are now ready to try for #2 and are going to start the FET process next month.

Just a thought, you can give you body a little bit of a break. There seems to be some promising new research as well that a freeze all (bank) cycle might have higher success rates than a fresh. There is another thread on here talking about that.

Again just a thought. My RE froze at 2PN because they have a better success rates and less fragmentation with the thaw.
