Ikiban - do they have you on aspirin? i had the same bruising and i asked the nurse about it since i never had that before with injections. the aspirin is a blood thinner, so its harder for you to clot at the injection site. that causes the bruising.
I have been to busy to get on here lately but i go for my ER tomorrow morning and i am lying in bed soooo nervous. its the only part of this whole thing i have really worried about. i think its the combination of wondering how the pain will be after I wake up and having to take pain meds. I haven't had a good history with pain medication. Allergic reactions to a few. i am sure i will be fine but i have a way of getting something in my head and siking myself out.
i wish everyone luck. its so exciting that we are all getting so close to the end. I feel like we just started on bcp. i can't wait!!!
Does anyone know, do they fertilize the eggs right away? When do you find out how many were removed and ferilized?
dixie_chop
My protocol calls for baby aspirin also. The nurse said that aspirin keeps the blood thin in the uterus and makes the path easier for the embryo to implant.
smiles,
nicole
Neffi211- you were right- the Medrol is YUCK! too bad I didn't get back online last night to get the heads up- I got to find out on my own.
dixie_chop- I have been taking baby aspirin once a day the entire time we have been TTC- it supposedly has benefits for infertility. They started me on it before my first attempt @ IUI and I haven't stopped since. As far as the bruisingon your tummy- I had a few throughout the process, but not after every injection. If you are getting them each time, you may want to ask a nurse, but for the most part I don't think you should worry.
Faith03- Good luck on your ET
AFM- I heard from the lab out of the 13 eggs retrieved- 10 were mature enough to attempt fertilization and only 5 fertilized. Is this okay? It soundslike such low #'s I am a bit discouraged. I am praying for 2 good fresh embryos to be transfered and at least 2 to freeze, it that realistic? I am scheduled for a 3 day ET on Sunday ~mother's day- good or bad sign?, I can't decide:)~ Anyway- that is the plan- the lab said that after checking them Sunday morning if they need until day 5 I will hear from them by 9am and reschedule for Tuesday. I am taking Medrol, progesterone, baby aspirin, and estrodiol- is that sound like what the rest of you are taking? Thanks again to all for the support and answers!
Sportsmom- how is your 2ww going? you have been on my mind:)
Everyone else- wishing you the best in what ever you may face today!
Faith77-- Yeah, the medrol is bad! I think a transfer on Mothers Day is Great! I have always done 5 day transfers....but who knows. I am on all the same meds excet the estradiol. Dont worry about your fert report, you only need one! I know everyone wants to have some to freeze...I'm with you there.
AFM-- still waiting to hear from RE about my fert report. I am very nervous, and on top of that I am coming down with a cold. Jack has a little cold too. He is snotty....I feel so bad for him, he is so little and is coughing and sneezing. I thought we made i through the winter and of course we get sick in MAY.

I'm very excited for you Dixie_chop. You must have been so anxious that sleep may not find you last night. The clinics should know the day of your ER how many were retrieved. They usually let you know 2 days after ER how many fertilized. Good luck to you!
Thanks for the advice on the baby aspirin. This is in my protocol but it is not mandatory. I think I'll go get it today to help with my bruises.
Can you ladies tell me when you are to start taking baby aspirin? It does not specify in my treatment package. Thanks again ladies!
Dixie_chop Good Luck on your ER today! My RE told me when I was recovering how many were retrieved, and the next day in the morning the nurse called me to let me know how many fertilized.
Ikiban Sorry I didn't take baby aspirin, but I think you should call your RE and ask to make sure. Good Luck
Well, I've been a little MIA getting over the upset of my first IVF. Who thought I'd ever have problems. Well, everything was going great, we had 15 follicles which produced 19 eggs. Then it all went south. I only had 2 mature eggs! Can you believe it. My Doc says I'm a rare case. Not what I wanted to hear and believe me, I've now done the research and realized, I truly am. We've at least explained my "unexplained" infertility but the bad news is there isn't much we can do about it but try again because there isn't much that can be done.
So, I ended up with two mature eggs, fertilized of which were Grade 1 & 2, by day 3 we were at a 4cell and 8cell and implanted on day 3 since we only had two eggs and he didn't think waiting would make any difference. 10 days later, I got a positive (albeit very low 11), but I'm trying to look at the positive that I can get prego. Two days later though it only went up to 14 so that BFN was my fate. So we are back to square one, taking a few months to try on our own then back at it in the July/August time frame. Keep your fingers crossed this cycle was just a fluke and next time we see at least 4-5 mature eggs.
SO I HAVE GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE 6 EMBIES!!!!!!!! 6!!!!! AND 3 OF THEM ARE FROM REGULAR IVF NOT ICSI. THIS IS HUGE FOR US! I AM SOOOOO EXCITED. NOW I HAVE TO WAIT 4 MORE DAYS UNTIL I CAN HAVE SOME OF MY BABIES BACK! THE 3 THAT WERE NOT ICSIED SHOULD DO FINE(HOPEFULLY) AND WE'LL SEE ABOUT THE ONES THAT WERE ICSI, USUALLY DONT GROW WELL. Hey all, the ER is over and 19 eggs were retrieved. Problem is, I am in severe pain. Did anyone else experience this??? They gave me vicodin but it made my chest tight and I am afraid to take another. The ibuprofen just isn't cutting it. i am counting down till my doc office opens in the morning....
Dixie-- Im sorry to hear that you are in such pain! I've never heard of someone in severe pain from ER before. Have you talked to your RE yet?
Brook-- welcome.....what exactly is balanced translocation??
AFM-- RE called this morning and we now have 8 embies. I dont know if the other two are going to be slow growers, or they might have just looked at them too early yesterday to see that they fertilized. So YAY 8!!! ET is tuesday.
Happy Mothers Day to everyone who has babies, everyone who has babies in a lab, and everyone that is planning on babies soon! This is my first official Mothers Day. Jack and I both have a cold, but DH says that my present is going to make me cry! SO we'll see tomorrow.
