Faith03- I'm glad your ET went well, I will be joining you tomorrow on the 2ww- what type of restrictions did they give you?
Dixie-Chop-hope you are feeling better
Neffi211- I'm glad you got good news!
kristyb- all I can say- is that I am terriblt sorry, and I wish you the best during this cycle.
AFM- I am on day 2 after ER- ET is scheduled in the morning- may change based on how embryos look in the morn. ~anyway.... I started the progesterone and I am on Medrol & Estrodiol- anyone on similiar meds and having breast swelling and tenderness? DH and I can't believe how overnight my breasts doubled! Of course it's fine with him- lol- but not me; they hurt- I am assuming this is a side effect with something I just started taking since the ER.
EVERYONE ~I hope everyone is having an ok weekend- Mother's day is difficult for those of us desperately trying to become one- you are all in my thoughts... wishing all the best.
hey faith 77 . no they just told me to take it easy .. girls have a question ...were u on bed rest fro 2 days after ET as i was going thru the dos and dont list .the girls there said not even lying on ur side just flat on your back .. is this true .. I was told to use a warm patch after I am done with The PIO but they say no ht water bottles cause of heat ???
Did anyone do all this ??
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I would love to join you ladies. This is my second IVF. Some background information...I am 37 years old and married to the best man around. The only bad thing is that I married him second. I have a son and a daughter from my first husband. Soon after I had my daughter I tied my tubes. One of the worst mistakes I ever made. Well now I want a baby with my DH and we are having to do IVF. I had so much hope before the first cycle. As we were going through it I found out that I was not producing many follies like I needed to. We ended up with 4 follies and 3 fert. We transfered 2 and ended with a BFN.
This cycle my ER is adding repronex. I am on Lupron now and hope to start Gonal F and Repronex next week. DH and I are praying that this works. My insurance does not cover IVF so this is our last chance.
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you during this important part of our lives.
So excited for all of you that have done their ET!
I am feeling better today but still not good enough to leave the house. I was not expecting this kind of pain afterward. I am going to try to get a hold of a nurse tomorrow to see if I should be checked. My stomach is really swollen, so I think its best to let them know. I did get a call today from the lab. 16 of the 19 eggs were mature and they were able to fertilize 11!!! I am so happy with the outcome! They say they will call again tomorrow with an update.
Does anyone know why they say no ibuprofen, only tylenol??
Dixie_chop: that's amazing! 11 fertilized! I'm surprised that you are in so much pain after ER. I found a link that provides some tips on helping with the pain after ER among other tips re: infertility. http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/ivfhints.html. Hope it helps you.
I went for my B/W and CD7 U/S this morning. Today was one of the those days. Took 4 tries and resorting to using my hands to get blood out of me but it felt wonder once we saw blood. Yesterday it took 3 tries...so my arms look like the ugliest pin cushion anyone has seen.
I'm a bit nervous that only 2 follicles (about 8.5 x 5) were seen on my right and 2-3 on the left. My RE is increasing my FSH dosage as of today. This does not sound promising since I've read from others that they have had many more follicles to work with. Is it too early to conclude that this will be unsuccesful?
Hi all- I just got a phone call from my Embryologist rescheduleing my ET to Tuesday- which will make it a 5 day transfer. All 5 of my embryos are developing at the same pace and they want to wait until Tuesday to see which ones if any stand out as stronger/better so we can determine which are the "best" to transfer. Can someone explain 3dt v/s 5dt? is one more ideal? We had planned on a 3dt so this news has thown me off balance- I have read that the less time embryos spend outside of uterus the better, but I have also heard that 5dt are stronger. Any info appreciated!
faith77 - i wouldn't be concerned, my practice likes to do 5dt if they can b/c the egg is much stronger. If they switched you from a 3dt to a 5dt, i think that just means that the eggs seem strong enough to be on their own for a few more days.
ikiban - thanks so much for the link, i am going to check it out now. i ended up having the doc paged last night b/c i was still in a good bit of pain. she said that it is totally normal to still be hurting, some people bodys don't respond well to the ER as others. fluid can build in your follicle and be pretty painful. she also said that 19 eggs is alot, so that contributes to it as well. so even though it still hurts, i feel better knowing that nothing is wrong.
i woudn't give up yet on your number of eggs. Sometimes they can't see them, so there could be more. and the increased meds should help to stimulate everything. Plus, you only need one!
Faith77-- Hey-- dont worry about the transfer day. There is research to support both 3 and 5 day transfers. My clinic does 5 day becasue they say if it cant make it til day 5 it wont make it in the uterus either. But others say that they will do better where they are suppose to be. Research shows higher success rates for 5 day but that is because they are stronger embryos and most likely all the 3 day transfers that ended in pregnancies would have made it to a 5 day blast outside the body as well.
ikiban-- I know it is hard but dont give up hope. Of all of my 5 cycles I had between 14-18 follicles except my third cycle I onlyhad 7! I was devastated! And my clinic said its quality not quantity! And that was the cycle that my DS came from! You only need one!
AFM-- Im sick, but still enjoying my MOther's Day. DH and Jack made me a DVD of pictures and music from when he was born until now and I also got a hammock.

dixie_chop - what I was told is some women experience a lot of pain and other don't. They told me to use a heating pad which definitely helped. I wasn't in that much pain by my other girlfriend going through this at the same time as me said it was really bad for her. Also, my doctor restricted my fluid intake for 10 days. Because I was so bloated as well, he didn't want to aggrivate it anymore so he limited me to just 1 liter a day which was about the medium size gatorade bottle. Oh, and I could only drink electrolyte type water like gatorade, propel or smart water. Maybe if you cut back here this will help. Good luck though!
Hi all,
Thanks for your posts, its good to read about other experiences. It helps me feel so much more confident and hopeful about the IVF process.
I really don't have any questions or pressing concerns right now but I thought that I would post so if I do have a question later on I wouldn't be brand new.
My background....TTC from day one of marriage 4/26/2003, finally got health insurance to cover fertility last summer, 5 natural IUIs with 5 BFNs, this is my first IVF. I have been on Lupron since the 28th of April. I start stim drugs tomorrow. The ultra sound I had today showed that I had 14 little follicles.
I am a rock climbing instructor so I spend a lot of time camping. This past weekend I had to give myself my first shots while camping. It was kinda nice because the birds were chirping and that was a pleasant distraction. I am a bit apprehensive about doing stim injections in the woods this weekend. The mixing could be complicated. I will have four days to "practice" before I have to do it outside so my plan is to see how it goes.
Well I didnt get the greatest news today...only 2 of our embryos are at the point that they should be today (morula) This was suprising becasue usually when we get some from regular IVF not ICSI they all go to blast with no problem.....so I don't know. 1 of the 4 is doing well the others are 8 cells and they should be at least 10 by today and RE said the grade is not good. 1 from the ICSI group is doing well too, but who knows what we'll have tomorrow. My transfer is at 1:15 and it looks like we wont have anything to freeze. I was planning on transferring two, but if the grades are bad I might do three....I have to talk it over with DH tonight.

i talked to the RE today and they think i have OHSS, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrom. its a side effect to the fertility meds and the retrieval. I am supposed to go in tomorrow and get an exam and if the fluid is still present, they will have to drain it. I am not looking forward to this. I did some research online and some woman have this for weeks. i don't know what I would do, especially with my job! plus the pain and shortness of breath is miserable. I also read that alot of RE's will not do the transfer until the following cycle. I really hope this is not the case. I guess I will find out tomorrow at my appt.
dixie_chop- Sorry to hear you are still feeling bad- at least you know why, and they will give exam tomorrow- keep us posted
Neffi211- good luck on the transfer-
Where are all the 2ww? Sportsmom, faith 03 & gals - are you okay? I've been thinking about you all- stay positive!!
AFM- My transfer is scheduled for 11:15am in the morning (5day)- we are waiting until in the morning to hear the quality of all before we decide on transfering # last report was 5 good embryos- hopefully they all hang in there and continue to progress into nice strong blastcysts! We are prepared to transfer 2- but ER said that sometimes if 1 looks super good they may feel comfortable transferring 1 depending on age- and health of female
**Thoughts from anyone who has already transferred? How did you decide?
