Hi Tracy,

Great no of follicles! I am sure even better news to follow.

Sabi,

Most of us pay or paid out of our pockets and this adds more anxiety to the already stressful process. But things can be very hopeful too due to strong desires associating with the high price, keep the good spirits!

Catharine,

Glad to know that you are thinking about getting a sibling for DD. I know weaning is not a necessity but my RE did recommend not to BF after ER. Since you add formula to DD's routine already, I hope that you would have an easier time to wean her than me - I tried few times and failed horribly in my case at earlier than 9 month. I was having a weaker determination though since I was betting on the frozen ones.

Finding a full time job at this economy situation could be challenging, but somehow I sensed that you are very capable of getting things done just as the way you wish. Good luck on this!

Tammy,

May 10 is not far, I am following your progresses.

Update about our children will be on the Mom site. Talk to you there!

Just an update. I complained that the last couple of times I felt if they had monitored me more closely and made changes earlier the results could have been better. Well I guess they really take it to heart - they have me seeing them every day since Wed. Not that I mind - but this time the follics are growing closer together so there does not seem to be the problem as before. I have a 14, 13, 12, 11, 10 and some smaller ones. Hopefully the 10 and 11 will grow a little faster and be mature by time of ER. I am hoping for 4 mature/fertilzied guys to put back. I will keep you posted to any updates.

Hi everyone, just wanted to give you an update. I am finally over the nausea praise God but other things have developed. I am now severely anemic. My heart rate is through the roof. I saw a cardiologist last week and thursday. I had to wear a heart monitor and I am having an echo cardiogram monday morning. He thinks my anemia is making my heart situation worse. my ob doc increased my iron supplements to 7 days a week and it also is in my prenatal vitamin. i am eating spinach and red meat and taking vitamin C as well. I am doing everything possbile. She says we have got to get the hemoglobin up. I have also started to develop what she feels like may be premature labor pains. She wants me to go out of work now. The problem with that is my boss who is female has never been married has no children and is not understanding. she will not hold my job. I am only protected by the eight weeks of family medical leave act and then beyond that, she doesn't have to hold my job. She wont work with me. I work three twelve hour shifts night shift also. And I have alot of physical work. I push stretchers and wheel chairs and do so many patinets during the night. It is so hard. I need my job because i carry our health insurance. I dont want to lose this miracle baby. we worked too hard to get her. I pray for a solution. As sick as I have been, I wouldn't change it for the world. i would do it again.

I hope you all are doing well. Tammy, tracy, catharine, yasmina I hope everything is going well for you. i am thankful that I have had you guys to talk to. I hope all the new people are getting the information they need from this site. It sure helped me. hang in there to everyone.

Hi there, I'm 40 this year and have one more try left on insurance before I hit 40 in November. I'm living in Germany. My last try was last May. In the mean time we got ourselves onto the adoption waiting list. But as I don't know how long the wait will be, I'm pretty sure I'm going for the last try in July. What do you think my chances are for the 7th try? Is it worth it? I've seen so many people in our our age group give up on their own eggs after multiple tries and go for donor eggs ( I'm pretty much not into that, in any case it's not allowed here) , so it seems like maybe I have a problem with my eggs, although really I guess 2 ectopics is proof that they can actually develop (just not in the right place).
Me and DH: 42

2006: 2 ectopics
2007-08: 2 IVFs, 4 FETs: all BFNs
approved for adoption
2009: IVF 3 - BFP!
Adam born 26 April 2010
5 frosties left
2012: FET - BFP! miscarriage at 8 weeks
2 remaining frosties didn't survive
Gearing up for foster care

Rhonda: Bless your heart. You have been through so much with this pregnancy. Please take care of yourself. You are in my prayers as well.

Tracy: I'm so glad your RE is looking out for you. Are you going to put all of your embies back or will you freeze some? You may have more than 4.

Hello to Yasmina, Catharine and Sabi. I started AF last night, so I will start the Femara tomorrow.

Regards,
Tammy

tammy, good luck with this cycle. I only did that ivf stuff once and boy was it exhausting. I so want everything to work for you. try to relax your mind and body and just trick your mind into thinking that it doesn't matter if it works or not. that way you will be stress free and i really believe that makes a huge difference.

Sabi and Rhonda:

Femara is just a pill so there is really no stress. I'm not even thinking about it. I'm going to take it for 5 days, then on day 11 I will have an ultrasound to check my follies. I'm not sure about the timed intercourse, but usually it is at least every other day. Since I'm going to my regular Ob/Gyn, I feel like I'm the RE. I actually called them today to set up my ultrasound. Luckily, the day that I have my ultrasound, I will meet with the new RE as he is visiting my Ob/Gyn's office. He comes there once a month for patients that live south of his office. His office is a 1.5 hour drive from my home, so this arrangement is much better. I will consult with him on the Femara and anything else. I can be his patient but have a lot of the monitoring done at my Ob/Gyn's office.

Take care,
Tammy

Update (Akua)

Post by Akua »

Greetings and blessings all!

It's been a few weeks since I have posted on this forum but me being a newbie and this being my first time doing IVF, I had very little to contribute. So I just read and lurk. Anyway, I have some updates and some questions and I hope some of the ladies here can help me make informed decisions.
I have had every single blood test, genetics tests, endometrial biopsy, post-coital test, and hubby has given them samples in cups, etc...
These are the findings and what was told to me today by Dr. Montes:
My tubes are completely blocked AND my uterus is full of fibroids. They want to schedule an abdominal myomectomy ASAP. I have one fibroid in the uterine cavity and one big one (about 5cm?) growing within the uterine wall and they are pretty much on top of one another making it hard for the uterus to expand when they did the test and tried to fill it with water. I pretty much expected that I would have to have surgery to have them removed but then she said once I do become pregnant, I would have to have a c-section. From what I have researched, there is no real documented proof that a woman who has had a c-section or abdominal myomectomy can't have a vaginal birth afterwards. Many women have VBAC's so what's the difference? Is there anyone here who has experience with this or knows anything about it? Overall the doctor was very hopeful and I have few complaints. She can be a little hmm.. what's the word? Let's just say she doesn't seem very compassionate. She is all business but nice nonetheless. I just dont want to be told that I have to have a scheduled c-section if I can have a vaginal birth just to protect their liability and give them MORE money. C-section seems like more of a risk to me. Why are american doctors always trying to cut women open?!?! Maybe I will just go along with them, do the IVF and then have a vaginal birth anyway. My biggest worry right now is the myomectomy. From what I heard and read, I will be required to spend 2-4 days in the hospital post surgery and then 2-6 weeks resting at home to recover/heal. I'm a nervous wreck but hubby is a great support and wants what I want. I know he wants more babies as much as I do though.

Akua I wish you all the best, but in order to get a good response from your topic, why don't you consider a new post, that you will get many people, reaching for your post to add their contributions.

Akua,

Sorry, not much help here, but I did hate c-sec also. Unfortunately, I had it twice! In your research, do people say the size of the fibroids matter? My guess is that drs. want to remove them at the c-set if they are not removed bf pg. Anyway, good luck in making decisions.

Tammy,

My fingers crossed for you and I will keep coming back to check your progress.

Rhonda,

I am so sorry for your situation. I hope the medication helps to boost your Hg level. Take care of yourself and the little one inside.

Angela,

I read online that one woman (Tertia) did 9 ivfs and she got twins and then is naturally pg at the moment. So, if you can mentally and financially continue, why not?

About egg quality, I got two kids from 25 of my 43 yr old eggs. So, statistics tells little about individual cases. If ivf can give you more than 10 fertilized eggs, I say you have a chance.

Tracy,

Great news about your growing follicles. Good luck on this cycle!
