Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum & have found a great deal of information (thank you). However, I find myself asking a question I can't find an answer to...
We're on our 3rd IVF cycle & didn't have this issue come up before. Sooo...
We are 1dp retrieval today & got the phone call saying of our 11 eggs retrieved yesterday, 9 were mature. 5 fertilized normally and 2 are MAYBEs and 2 did not fertilize at all.
Clinic is saying maybe means maybe. They saw activity indicative of fertilization but it hadn't progressed to the 2PN stage so they are maybes. They don't know if the activity they saw would result in normal fertilization, or if it was going to stall out.
At approx 14-16 hrs after ICSI, I would expect the clinic/lab to have a good presumption of whether or not this degree of development is leading to normal or stalling.
Has anyone else had this sort of report? What was the result? Any information anyone can lead me to so that I can read up a bit more?
I took developmental biology in undergrad YEARS ago, & can still read up again, but that sort of information doesn't give info in the context of IVF or necessarily human embryology.
Thank you for any info you guys might have!
