dys- sounds like heartburn, it was my worst pregnancy symptom, started early like you and got progressively worse as time went on. I started of taking tums and when that no longer worked i did zantac for the rest of my pregnancy.

:) yup, dys, you got heart burn- I never have it unless I'm pregnant.

AFM: All is good- he was able to pick up the heartbeat with the doppler! Said I can come back anytime to hear it :) He is just so great! Next appt is 6/25 and then we'll schedule the u/s for anatomy check, etc. If there would happen to be any abnormalities, we'll go from there. Now I can really just enjoy being pregnant for the first time since finding out on 3/28!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY ME!

love to all!

Good for you Nicole! So glad you get to relax a little now.

So I have my first ob appt next Thursday. What should I expect? I just had my u/s with RE this week. Will they do another one? She told me it would be a lengthy appt but didn't give me any details.

Cythia~ They pretty much just double check your health history and your baby daddy's too :)

Draw blood
Collect urine
Pap, if needed- I didn't have to do one- they won't do them if someone is in their 2nd or 3rd trimester.

Doppler to listen to heartbeat- so cool! I think I'll rent one, or buy one off eBay in a few months, once there's no possible way that you can't 'find' it.

They will ask if you have any questions for them at all! So make sure you make up a list!

Good luck and tell us how it goes!

dys - I was told I could take Pepcid AC for heartburn. Tums was making me sick.

Ian - Glad to hear your OB appointment went good. I was wondering what they do for the first appointment. I was hoping for an ultrasound but sounds like I may have to wait. I have my appointment tomorrow.

I had my appointment yesterday. I was disappointed I didn't get an ultrasound, but I did hear the heartbeats on the doppler. Other than that I just had blood work, they collected urine, and a pap. They also asked a ton of question about me and DH. If any of you have a pap at your first appointment with your OB doc, don't be alarmed if you spot later. My doc told me I would and he was right. i go back June 11th for my next checkup and ultrasound.

Hello

Post by Tara2009 »

How is everybody?

Regarding the cvs and amino tests I got furthur clarification that these are offered to women over 35 since the risk of fetal genetic/chromosomal disorder is higher. So most of the women here don't have to worry about these tests!

Nicole - I am glad that your OB appointment went well. So relax.

Cymplicity - I had my first OB appointment last week. As the other ladies have already said, I had the following done.

1. Vitals measured (my BP was a little high)
2. pap smear
3. physical exam
4. ultrasound
5. blood and urine sample
6. Discussion with OB about diet, medications etc. Ask as many questions as you can.
7. They gave me a nice welcome package with lots of instructions, calendars, magazines, pregnancy information, coupons etc

Good luck!!

Tara.

Thanks everyone for the what to expect on your first visit!

Other than my first OB visit this week I have another reason to celebrate...MY LAST PIO SHOT IS WEDNESDAY!!! I am SO freakin' excited about that you just don't know  I've come to despise these big needles and DH is just as excited. No one else has mentioned them on this thread so I'm assuming I may have been the only one on them? My clinic was one of the ones that still belived more in the shot than the suppositories and I had injections up to 10 weeks of pregnancy regardless of my progesterone levels (not that they ever checked them). Anyway, I can't wait to finally get rid of my last sharpies container! woohoo! :D

Hello Ladies!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

cymplicity27- my clinic does PIO shots too, and if your progesterone levels are too low they put you on both the suppstories and PIO shots. Last cycle my doc gave me crinone gel and i had severe cramps so I refused to take them again when he offered me to switch from PIO to the supp. at my 6w6d u/s. I said hell no, I'm fine with PIO shots, I don't think they hurt except one time when my dh hit a vain ouchhhh  , my doc said I'll be coming off of them this friday if everything is ok with the baby at 9 weeks, so my last shot should be this thursday. We should both celebrate lol :D

Tara2009- thanks for the 1st visit info. I wonder if they have to do the pap smear. I had one done not too long ago, and I don't think I want another one

AFM I'm doing ok my heartburn comes and goes but i can manage, I'm excited for my u/s this fri, I think this will be my last visit with my doctor. I'm scared I'll cry or something lol I've been seeing him exactly for a year now so I'm pretty attached plus I'm such a cry baby now I cry about everything lol so I dont know how I'll take the goodbye hugs and stuff.

dys24, MOST of my injections have been painless. Every now and then they will hurt but still not too bad. I had one that was so painful that DH pulled it out and found another spot  Plus every other night I have to do my own because of DH's work schedule so I'm just REALLY tired of doing them. I've also been wearing 2 vivelle-dot estrogen patches and changing them twice a week. I also stop those on Wednesday. Maybe now I can get rid of these adhesive marks on my tummy.

Hello ladies:

I'm so happy everything is going fine with you all. I'm surprise you are still in PIO shots, I did until week 6, then I continued with supp until next tuesday. I was happy to finish with the PIOS and E2 because I got tired and sleepy all the time, now I am more alert.

Well, last week I went to RE to another update, and did other u/s. I don't know if its my imagination, but I could see his or her hands and head, even the eyes, and the hb, it was music to my ears. I couldn't stop crying. Then, the baby started moving, it was beautiful. My last apoinment with RE is next tuesday, then is the OB/Gyn.

Still no symptoms to bother me. The ocasionnally nausea, sleepness and very gassy. The one thing that worry me, is my allergies. I usually used one zyrtec a day. The RE said I could use it but I don't want to, so my allergies are acting up.

This expierence is beautiful, and even more beautiful having a group of great gals to share it with. Thank you for all your post. I read it everyday and it help me a lot.

Hugs

Sari

Sari - Congrats on your little one moving around and seeing the heartbeat! It is a very beautiful sight.

As far PIO shots...I ran out of mine during my wait from my last RE visit to my first OB visit. I didn't want to spend the money on more, so my OB doc said I could use suppositories in the meantime. Yesterday was my last day for those. I was sooo happy!

Hello:

I just need some advice. Yesterday as I was working I felt cramps, like AF was coming. Then I felt wet (sorry if TMI), and I went to check it was white liquid, I suppose progesterone, from my supp. I had cramps all day. Then I realize the skirt I had on was a little to tight in the area down my belly, I really didn't notice because it was big around my waist, and went I sat in my desk it pressure the downpart of my belly. Well, I rest and change my cloth, of course. Today I don't feel any pain or cramp at all, but am worry for my baby. Do you think I could harm her or him yesterday?

Thanks for anything you could think of.
