Hi everyone - long story very very short:
I am 37 yrs old. I am unable to produce good quality eggs but I've been told by everyone that I can carry. My husband & I just had our first IVF transfer, (5/12) using donor eggs from a 24 yr old. 3 of the 14 fertilized eggs got to the blastocyst stage - so we transferred all 3. We were informed the next day that none of the others at the morula stage were viable; they all arrested their development. So now the 3 blastos in me are the only chance we've got at this (there's no way we can afford another donor cycle. . .)
I would really appreciate anyone's story on a good experience with blastocyst transfers - I need all the positivity I can get right now! Thanks!
baby Asha (now in my arms) was blast! best wishes...it can happen to you. Do not loose hope and PMA!!!!!!!!!

Hi Melinda,
I have 8 month old twins who were the result of a blast donor cycle. We transferred 3 blasts and got our beautiful twins! And that was after 8 rounds of IVF using my eggs - the first donor cycle worked like a charm. Our situation was similar to yours - we had 12 fertilized eggs, transferred 3, and none of the others made it to the freezing stage. But it turned out that we didn't need them!
Good luck! When do you test?

1 FET cycle - BFN
9th IVF cycle - BFP!! Twins born Sept 18/08
Trying again May 2010!!!
Hi Kelly - that's great news about your twins! It's amazing what a little boost from similarly situated strangers will do. Thanks for sharing your story. I had 6 IUI attempts and one IVF (failed to respond to meds) before being clinically diagnosed with early menopause at 33. So donor eggs were our only option too. We test a week from today, 5/22.
Melinda
Please keep in touch and let me know what happens! Apparently donor cycles (in addition to using younger eggs) are more successful because you don't have to go through the stimulation part of the process. So, everything combined gives you a great chance - and you had 3 transferred which works in your favour. It took a lot of convincing to get our 3 transferred because they usually only transfer 2 blasts! I think they took pitty on us because we had been trying so long and had been through so many cycles.
Hope the next week flies by!!!

Hi Melinda, I tranferred 2 blastocysts and now have 7 months old twins, really hoping you get to hold your beautiful baby (ies) soon!
Baby dust and keep us posted,
Ana
I didn't use donor eggs, but I did transfer 5 frozen blasts (I am 39 Years old and it was our last attempt). I started out with twins and lost one but our daughter is due in about 14 more weeks.
Best of luck and keep a PMA I know it's hard but it really works.
