charr - I have had those ligament pains too, but fortunately I knew what they were already from perusing my pregnancy book. The first one came over a month ago when I sneezed one night and thought I was going to pass out from the stab of pain on my right side. Since then I now get them fairly often, sometimes randomly but mostly when I sneeze or blow my nose, etc... which during allergy season is pretty often!

CHARR: I agree with WONDRCAT. I had the same thing about 3 weeks ago and was so concerned that I put myself on bedrest for 1 day. I really thought I was having a miscarriage or something but then read also about it in the pregnancy books and online. SO DON"T WORRY!!!! What you are describing, "pain getting worse when moving", is classic round ligament pain! Good lusk on your next visit and keep us posted.

Wondercat & Nancy - Thanks for making me feel better! I had those quick, sharp pains when I would sneeze previously but I just never had it where the intense pain lasted for hours, so that's what has made me so worried. Thankfully it hasn't happened since!

I find if I hold my belly when I feel a sneeze coming on, it helps out. Also, it seems to be okay if I'm sitting or standing up, but if I am laying down or reclining, the muscles tend to seize more.

Speaking of sneezing, do you know if a sneezing attack is intense for the baby (babies in my case)? I normally have horrible allergies, and they are much, much worse at the moment. Sometimes when I sneeze, I'll sneeze 7 or 8 times in a row, and was wondering if that might scare or upset them. I'm one of those loud sneezers.

Everyone feeling well?

aspotofTea - I think our bodies are set up to keep the little ones protected enough so that when they're adults they won't curl up in fetal position and rock themselves back and forth every time they hear a sneeze. :)

I'm also much worse, since I can't take my usual steroid nose spray this season. At least my doctor said it was OK to take Benadryl, but that's not terribly useful if I want to continue functioning at work during the day. Oh, well, neither spring nor pregnancy lasts forever! I'm trying to focus on how cool it is to be finally feeling the baby, instead of my itchy throat and eyes, and the appalling number of kleenex I have used up in the past two weeks.

7 or 8 times in a row is pretty intense though. Wow. I usually top out at only 3!

I was wondering if you any of have passed small amounts of clear tissue (I think it's tissue but really sure)? I passed some this morning but haven't had any bleeding or severe cramping. My stomach has hurt but not severe. Just feels like my belly button is being tugged on from the inside. lol. I've left a message for the nurse so I'm just waiting to hear back.

aims327 - I have had some whitish stuff, if that's what you mean?? It looks kind of like there some thicker, opaque discharge that comes out when I pee sometimes. The tugging pain you're describing sounds kind of like the ligament pains I have been getting. Last night when I was describing the shooting pains in my lower groin to my friend who's 32 weeks along with twins she laughed and said, "Oh, you mean the crotch lightning?!" I have a feeling we're in for any number of strange and uncomfortable experiences over the coming months.

If you haven't had any bleeding or cramping I wouldn't worry too much. (Always easier said than done.)

Thanks Wondercat. What I experienced sounds really similar. The nurse got back with me said it may be from the pap I had last Friday. She said not to be concerned but let them know if I passed more or started spotting again. I agree we will probably feel lots of weird things during our pregnancy. :)

Aims - I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry. Good news that the nurse didn't seem concerned. I've had the pulling around the belly button, too, and it would feel really tight to the touch. Interesting times ahead for all of us I think!

We had an OB appt. today and all is well. The baby's heartbeat is strong at 157 bpm and he/she was squirming around, wiggling its arms and legs. I so look forward to being able to feel the movements!

How is everyone feeling? I hope some of the nausea has subsided. Mine has gotten better. Now it just comes on in the evenings.

I was released to my OB today, hooray! Although, I'll miss my RE, she is the best. First OB appt is Thursday, just to get settled in as she put it. I like her too and all.

both babies have strong heartbeats, 151 and 154, and they wiggle around so much! I'm wondering what it is going to feel like when I can start to feel all that movement!

I've been so lucky, I haven't really felt the nausea for a few weeks now. My appetite is really starting to pick up now. I gained 5 pounds in the last month.

Hi, everyone. Has anyone felt first movements of their baby or babies yet? I've felt and seen movement the last two nights. If I'm lying flat on my back, I will sometimes feel a strange sensation and then see a protrusion in my abdomen rise up as if the baby is doing a somersault or turning over. If I put my hand there I can also feel it. The sensation does feel a bit like butterflies or kind of a wave going through your belly. It's the most amazing thing ever!!

aspotofTea - Congrats on being released to your OB and the strong heartbeats!

CHarr: that must be really exciting. I can't wait to actually feel the baby. It will make everything even more real.

I went to the OB today. Had an ultrasound done. She thought it might be a boy, but will not be sure for another 3 weeks! :-) She asked me if I wanted to know and I told her definitely. She then asked "any preferences"? I told her all I care about is a healthy baby. That might sound cliche, but it couldn't be more true!!! "His" heartbeat was good at 151 and she said things look good! :-)
They also did the blood test for the AFP screen after which i am to see a perinatologist for genetic counselling and a more detailed ultrasound. Based on those, we will decide whether to proceed with amnio or not. It seems like the guidelines have changed a bit and they are not automatically recommending to have amnios done if over 35 anymore, but rather make that decision based on the screening tests. I would be interested in having everyone's feedback on what your individual experiences are with this matter.
I also wish I had the nuchal transluscency done earlier, but my OB didn't offer it. Oh well...

Hope everyone's doing fine.

Oh girls- I'm so absolutely sick and freakin' tired of this stupid spotting crap. EVERY SINGLE TIME I even get a little bit excited or happy or accepting of the idea of this pregnancy..... it starts again! *warning-TMI* This AM when I had what I'd call an easy BM, meaning no straining whatsoever, I had blood (bright red) mixed in with that clear stringy stuff.

I'm actually on hold waiting to talk to a nurse at the OB's office, more or less just to give them an FYI that it happened- I'm not "bleeding" per se- that is to say, I am not spotting except for when I wipe. That's it, nothing on the panties or liner.

I have to safely assume one of two things:

1. It's just that my cervix is just really sensitive and reacts to some BMs

or

2. I over did it yesterday at the gym- having kept my heart rate under 140 and taking breaks if I felt out of breath.

NOW- I saw the OB on Tues this week because I had told them I had a similar issue last week from Tues-Thurs, then nothing Fri-this morning- but they wanted to do an U/S "just to make sure" everything was ok.
WELL, it was Tuesday!

Could something have happened between now and then? Does the amount you spot/bleed have any direct correlation to there being something wrong? UGH!

SO RN says no gym (lifting) until no bleeding/spotting, that's easy enough, but I asked if I can walk and she said yes, but use your head- if you walk and also experience spotting, then stop and just take it easy and let my body adjust to being pregnant.

I let her know she is talking to a person who LOVES to be active!!!! I know it's not forever, but I just have this fear of getting grossly obese! -this has to do with my mom's side of the family being over weight.....

Anyways, sorry for the lengthy post- but I just had to vent and will be cross-posting to the December '09 thread, too.

I just want that squirmy little crying ball of mess handed to me so I can kiss and love it!!!!!
