FOR THOSE WITH TWINS OR MORE.....

Post by Neffi211 »

Hi-- I was just wondering what your betas were for those who are expecting twins or more....

I had a beta at 11dpo and it was 59 I have another tomorrow at 13dpo so we'll see what that is. According to basebeta.info.....these numbers are the average for triplets! We did transfer three embryos, but only one that was good quality. Just wondering what your numbers were...thanks

Hi -
I don't remember the EXACT numbers but close to them:
16dpo = 900+
18dpo = 2700+

(We lost baby A at 11.5 weeks)

I was paranoid of a molar preganancy since my numbers were high. For some reason, I was very happily shocked to find out it was twins. I was hardly prepared for it working at all, let alone twins. When I went for that first ultrasound the RE was zooming around so quick that I couldn't see anything and thought there was nothing. Then he said "It's twins!"

Congrats either way on your BFP!

That's gotta be a multiple.

Hey Neffi,

Congratulations on your BFP and the beta!! I have a somewhat unrelated question. After your failed 4th IVF, did you wait out one cycle before starting again or did you go straight into the 5th cycle when your AF came? Just curious because I feel like I may have a failed first IVF and wanted to know if I should wait out for one month and then start again or go right into it.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone....

Ghost-- is there a chance this is a molar pregnancy????

Medstudent-- I went right into my 5th cycle becasue our insurance was going to run out. Usually my clinic does every other month. but they said it is not harmful to go right into another cycle!

I've seen them as high as yours (and even higher) many times and they've always been multiples. I've never seen the hCG curve for a mole (we have not had one in my tenure, knock on wood) so I don't know how close your value is to that of a mole. Moles are rare, but multiples are common in IVF. It's probably not a mole.

Thanks Ghost....
I'm just suprised that it is multiples becasue 2 of the three embryos weren't good quality. One was the lowest quality blast and one was an early blast. The other was almost perfect. Would identical twins cause high HCG levels too? I have another beta Wed. that will be a week from the last since I was away so we will see then. My u/s should be June 5th

I'm not sure. I have the impression that identical twins (monozygotic twins) would not cause such high initial hCG values because they have to divide the trophectoderm cells from one blastocyst, giving them the combined hCG production of one embryo.

Yeah I figured it would only be 2 embryos that cause high HCG levels.
