Calling all stories with donor eggs!

Post by Melinda37 »

Hello all ~
I'm in my 2ww after my first IVF attempt using donor eggs. My IVF attempt with my own eggs was cancelled due to poor response to meds. (FSH of 21 and diagnosed with early menopause, but everyone tells me I can carry.) We got 22 eggs out of our 24 yr old donor, 15 mature, 14 fertilized. Ended up with 3 blastocysts and transferred them all. Found out the next day that none of the others were able to be frozen.

I have been looking on these boards for people's experiences with donor eggs/blastocysts, and with the exception of one woman who has responded to an earlier post - everything I find when I search is about people looking for egg donors or vice versa.

If anyone out there can share their stories (good or bad) using donor eggs, I'd be grateful!

Melinda

Hi Melinda,

If you go to the General Forum, there is a thread called "Egg-heads" and all the women there are in tmt using DE. So we are here, you just have to know where to find us, I guess! :D C'mon over and introduce yourself there.

I had an FET with DE in February and am now pregnant, due in October. I transferred 3, 3 day embryos and one stuck. Prior to that, we had tried IVF 3 times without any success, but got lucky on our first try with DE.

Sending you lots of baby dust and PMA that at the end of your 2WW, you'll have a nice BFP! When do you test?

Have a good week and wishing you lots of luck!

Thanks Summer! I will head on over to the "egg head" section. Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am also hopeful we get lucky on our first DE cycle, as we don't have any frosties, and cannot afford to keep going this route. . .

Hi there! I just checked out the egg head thread and it is huge so I thought I'd reply to you here. We just did our first donor cycle. The first donor we picked decided not to donate so we ended up picking her sister whose profile was added soon after our original donor. I am SO happy we ended up with the donor we did. We did a split cycle with another recipient. We ended up with 12 eggs - all 12 fertilized! They froze 4 on day 3 and the other 8 all grew to the blast stage. We transferred 2 perfect blasts on May 8th. They were able to freeze 3 more of the remaining 6 - they only freeze good quality blasts at our clinic. I had my beta done on monday the 18th and it was 269!!! The told me I did not need to do another beta because it as so high. I will have an u/s the first week of June. It was a 3 yr journey to get to this point and I couldn't be happier right now. We didn't know if our donor was proved when we picked her since she was new and just beginning her first cycle. When I got my pg results, the nurse told me that the 2 couples that were her first cycle were both pg as well - they are very happy with this new donor. When is your beta? Keep your fingers crossed! I really thought that my cycle had failed - I just couldn't get a feeling either way and was shocked when I found out I was. We cheated and did a hpt the night before my beta. If it was negative I didn't want to find out at work. The 2 lines appeared instantly!!!! I'd love to chat more if you want.

Hi Riley1178 - congratulations! That is wonderful news.
Our beta is not until Friday, 5/22, but tonight I caved and took a HPT. This is our only shot at it, as we don't have any frozen ones in reserve, and we just can't spend any more money if adoption is going to be the end result, as that costs a ton of money too that we should be saving for. :( In any event, I am 7dp5dt and it came out clearly negative.
It's weird - I am so positive in so many facets of my life, but not in this. I guess it's from 5 years of being told negative things every single time when it comes to anything "baby." I just can't imagine that I could hear something good. So I am totally negative about this whole thing. I have 3, count 'em 3!, day 5 blastocysts from a donor in me right now - with good lining and a fine uterus. Every stat I read is telling me we've got a really really good chance of having at least one in there, but I'm telling you - I don't feel good about it at all!
And this wait is unbearable. How can so many women/couples go through this? This is cruel and unusual punishment (I'm in the legal field! LOL) The future of my life and the planning of my family is out of my control and I can't learn about it for 3 more days. And I can't have a glass of wine to calm myself down either. ;)
Thanks for listening. . . .and take care of yourself!

Hi Melinda - please don't give up hope! Your embies are taking their time getting settled, that is all! 7dp5dt, is not very far along, at least not very far along for a HPT to pick up whether or not you are pregnant. Especially at this point, to take the test at night, when they recommend doing it with your morning urine, when it is most concentrated. It might even be that on Friday, your HPT will show negative, but your bloodtest will be positive. Normally, most clinics do a bloodtest 14 days past transfer, hence the term, 2 week wait. I even had to wait 3 weeks before my bloodtest when we did DE...Try your best over the next 2 days to let go of your negative thoughts, because they aren't helping your situation and go out and find your PMA again, this can still work for you!!

Riley - congrats on your big BFP! Wishing you are really happy and healthy pregnancy! Not quite sure what you mean by the egg-head thread being so huge?? I know there are a lot of pages, but if you just click on the last page, then those are the most current posts. I think there are about 8-9 women currently active on the thread, it changes all the time. Hope that clears up any confusion.
Once again, congratulations!!

Hello hun! I know how it's hard. I have pcos and treatment didn't work for me. De ivf was my last and only chance to have children. When my first cycle of ivf failed I was broken. But we had 4 more attempts so I really believed in a good result with all those tries. We used Ukrainian clinic. It was set in our contract that the clinic will return money in case of 5 failures. So we had nothing to lose. I've got pregnant from second attempt with twins. That was like a dream! I gave birth to my baby girls in November last year. I still remember how painful this path was, but finally our struggle with infertility is over. We are parents of 2 gorgeous kids! So don't be sad though it's really hard. Believe in the best! I'll cross my fingers for you. Good luck dear!

Hi Melinda,
I went for surrogacy with donor egg. 3 embryos were transferred to our surrogate mother. Usually the amount of embryos that can be transferred depends on each country legislation.
Before that, the mother and the donor have stimulation too (they have to take certain medication). Each egg was fertilized with my husband's sperm. Then the eternal waiting begins. If everything goes well.. you should have good news after 12 weeks. In my case, there is only 1 healthy embryo left and we are hoping to be lucky this time.

OP I'm so sorry you had to go through all those failures. Girls, thank you so much for sharing your experience. Now I'm looking into donor egg option. I'm 40 and I really don't want to lose time. My husband and I were trying to conceive for almost 5 years. Donor egg option seems a great opportunity for us to have kids. Thank you for sharing details about the process. I've only started my search. So I'm new to using donor eggs. I agree with you that even though we have to wait and think over and over again about the procedure and how it will go but still we should live our life and don't let any failure prevent us from enjoying each moment of it. Though it's really hard and most of the time I feel so stressed... But I really don't want infertility to take my life away from me. I'm so lucky I found this thread. You're so positive and your positive mood inspires me not to give up and keep going. I wish all of us best of luck!

The OP was posted 8.5 years ago.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

Hi there. Welcome to the forum. Didn't you try to transfer the fresh eggs too? Or just froze them all? I hope you find the testimonials you are looking for. Good luck! Looking forward to hearing from ou again.
