I spoke to Nikola yesterday - she sneaked out with the postman (best not ask I feel!!!) and rang me from her mobile in the rain - bless. I updated her as best I could - brain keeps going funny and she has sent you all this message:
Hello All
Well I’m back in the asylum! As I know Tracey has told you, my consultant was unhappy that one of the other doctors had allowed me to leave the hospital last weekend and has made it clear that I’m not allowed to even leave the Ward until these babies are born!!!
Today when the postman was coming in through the door, I sneaked out!! It is kept locked and you have to buzz to be let in/out so I had to wait until someone was coming in to get out! Hee hee. I only went and sat outside on the bench and made a few phone calls. I sneaked back in and one of the student midwives saw me and I asked if anyone had noticed I’d gone out and she said only her and she had been watching me out of the window to make sure I was ok…….. She didn’t tell anyone. Bless.
This gives you some idea of what it is like in here! Even when I had sneaked outside someone was watching me…….OMG!!!!
I had a bad day Monday when I found out I was going to be kept prisoner, but I’m ok again now. I’m disappointed but I know it’s for the best and so I’ll just have to grin and bear it!
My mother-in-law has sent me some knitting needles and wool and I’m going to learn how to knit…..who would have thought it!! I’ve gone from business woman of the year to mum-to-be who sits and knits….as if!!! Tracey is keeping the wheels of business running and keeping me up to date on what you are all up to – she is wonderful!!!!!!
Now, what is all this I hear Jackie T – no pre-eclamsia but determined to have some sort of drama to report, you may now have diabetes???? Is this some pathetic attempt to try and outdo me on the drama front – are you trying to compete for sympathy with me??
Traci – thank you for my lovely poem (you do make me laugh!!) I can’t wait to see what the postman has to deliver for me…..how exciting!!! You are kind. Tracey told me your fab news – fingers crossed honey! It would really make my day if you could post some much deserved ++++ve news! You have earned your place on ‘this side’ of the site!!!
Any news from Di? She must have had her c-s by now……..hope everything went ok!
Wibbs – I had my fundus measured today and I’m 38cm!!!!!! I’m not sure if this is the babies or perhaps the amount of stodge and custard I’m ‘forced’ to eat every day!! Hee hee. I’m in a little local hospital called Airedale General Hospital in West Yorkshire – I’d rather be here than at LGI in Leeds which is much bigger and would be awful. At least I now know everyone (and boy do they all know me….!!) I like the idea of a set Nikola Free Campaign! Although I don’t think it would do any good…..
Wibbs, have you heard from Val? If you email her say hi from me!
Hayley – twins???? This is fantastic news, I’m soooooo pleased for you!
Thank you everyone else for all your lovely messages – it really does help to get me through these awfully long and boring days! Dh brings them in each night and I read them when he has gone. Last night the midwives heard me laughing and wondered what I was doing……if only they knew!
Guess what else I’ve thought to do to pass the time……shopping from my bed! At first I thought I wouldn’t be able to order anything without access to the internet, but then I realised I can fill out a form and post it off – so I’m now surrounded by Blooming Marvellous/Jo-Jo brochures and I’m ordering away……hee hee. Dh won’t even know because I’ll have it all sent to the hospital. I’m so devious!!!!
Now, you lot be good. Keep me updated with all your nonsense!
I’m sending you all lots of hugs and love!
Nikola.xxx
Thought you would all like this.
Love
Tracey

ttc 9 years. 38 yrs old, dh 8 hrs younger!First IVF in Aug 2002 and had ectopic.2nd IVF neg.3rd FET and negative.4th FET and positive but sadly lost our little boy at 20 weeks.5th FET and Alice Isobel and Emily Charlotte born 5th Aug 2004!
great to hear from you, although naughty as ever!!
why exactly are they keeping you in? do they think you may get pre eclampsia or is it something else?? did both your placentas fuse together at some point?? trying to keep up with everyone and what is happening is no good for my pregnancy fuzzed tiny brain. People say your brain capacity halfs when you are pregnant, so that must mean that it disappears if you are having 2, (thats my excuse anyway!!)
My boss is back at work after 12 weeks off so I feel that I can start to slow down a bit, a lovely feeling. I have taken a few days off and been shopping. Mam wants the Love Actually dvd for mothers day so nipping out today to get that.
Keep meaning to ask everyone - does anybodies nose bleed on a morning???? mine is really snotty (sorry) and when I blow it bleeds, I don't have cold or anything and this has been happening every day for about 4 weeks now.
Nikola, enjoy your shopping sprees in the comfort of your bed, be good, or as well behaved as you can!!! and take care of your self and your 2 special babies.
Glad to hear your OK and growing nicely by the sounds of things. Be good and stop escaping. The hospital and staff sound nice which is always a blessing.
The shopping idea sounds fab if my head is not buried in a catalogue of some description then I'm shopping on the net.
I'm working full time at the moment and although i am only 21weeks I'm ready to leave. My interest in my job has just disappeared and all I can think about is baby, mind you I'm an accountant so its not surprising really!
Be good look after yourself and your precious babies.
God I am an ex accountant - been in recruitment 10 yrs and now set up accountancy rec on my own and DH is one!

Knitting Nikola?!!!! My 70-odd year old mother-in-law is the only one who knits in our family and I intend to keep it that way. Mind you, having babies, does transform you into a domestic goddess (or a pale imitation of a domestic goddess in my case!). I've just spent the morning baking birthday cakes and other birthday party goodies and I'd never baked in my life before Daniel and Charlotte's 1st birthday.
Look after yourself (and the postman if he can do you a few favours!!!!).
Love Jules
TTC 5 years. Daniel & Charlotte born 22.03.02, 1st ICSI treatment. TTC for 4 further years. 2nd ICSI cycle abandoned, 3rd cycle BFN. Looking forward to being a happy family of 4.
It's good to see you are being naughty as usual!! Nipping out with the postman hey! now if it was a fireman I'd be out of there like a shot (just love the uniform and the wellies)!!
I'm glad to see you've found a pastime while your under lock and key - although I'm sure you once said to me that you didn't like shopping that much you little fibber!!!
i couldn't resist a sneaky look at the prams in the local baby shop and have fell in love with the Jane Powertrack 360 (although the Mutsy is a cool little off road number too). Have not bought even a pair of socks though and think I deserve a pat on the back. Have got next scan on April 5 so will be 12 weeks then.
So are you keeping those sexy little male nurses and Dr's on their toes?
I'm assuming you didn't manage to get your legs etc waxed when you escaped?!! Get Traci to send one of her staff up to do you a hospital visit.
I hear the hospital hairdressers do a mean blue rinse too!!!
Look after yourself and your babies and go easy on the shopping or they'll be nothing left for the rest of us!!!

Sound like you are having FUN whilst you are being held prisoner by the NHS. Are you on first name terms with the postman yet? Sounds like you have a kind and understanding student midwife which helps. I remember when I was an inmate for 2 1/2 weeks and one of the student midwives kept on saying to me 'You can leave you know, at any time, no one can stop you' etc etc. It was like she was encouraging me to break out and belive me I nearly did on a number of occasions.
You 'friendly postman' should be bringing you something from me in the next few days. I hope I got the address right.
I can't believe my eyes Nikola - Knitting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh no way!!! David's 12 year old daughter has been taught to knit by David's step mum and she looks so funny sitting there with her ball of wool and needles. We take the pi$$ but it's quite sweet really, but you - OMG. Next you will be crocheting table cloths and making jam and selling them at WI meetings!
I am doing fine some moments and then I come crashing down again. I am still so angry and hurt. My grief is unbearable. I have an appointment with my consultant on Monday so hopefully we will get some answers to our questions of why and what. My Vicar has just been round with all the cards from the flowers at the funeral which has upset me a bit. The rabbits in the grave yard have eaten all the bloody flower arrangements and I am so cross. I took some more roses up there the other day and they were strewn across the grave yard and half eaten. I used to find rabbits really sweet but now they just bug me. I want Katelyn's grave to be pretty but the rabbits will just mess it all up. Buggers.
Now, you must promise to rest and look after those precious little babies and give all the medical staff a load of hassle. It's the law.
Love Dagny xx

LOL - knitting?!!! Well done you - and some advice, knit some of the old fashioned mitts that can have a tie, as the ones you get now are useless and always come off!!!! My mum trawled round car boot sales to get some old fashiones ones for my sisters baby and now they've been passed on to me...
As for sneaking out - big brother really is watching you! hee-hee. I reckong they know you'll do it anyway - just make sure you are smeaking out slowly and carefully
I can't believe that Sam is over 6 weeks old now and is doing well. He is now a 'massive' 5lb 14.5 oz (!) and he also finally passed his hearing test in his 'dodgy' ear on the 4th attempt last week so that was a bit of a relief. Being a mum is fabby, but breastfeeding I'm finding a bit of a nightmare - think formula might be beckoning soon....
Anyway, this is not as long as usual so no cheeky comments from you!
Glad to hear you are not too bored lying in bed. I can only knit squares but everyone keeps saying i should start doing more but i do not have the patience. My mum is knitting me a shawl and i have not seen it as i do not want to spoil the surprise. Your nurses seem really nice but they might turn nasty if you keep escaping.
Your dh must be missing you loads but i bet he's spoiling you.
Take care
Helen
