5 day morula transfer

Post by michmar »

I'm 40 years old and have just gone through my first IVF cycle. They retrieved 19 eggs and 10 fertilized. At my transfer last sunday I learned that none had made it to the blastocyst stage. The embryologist chose the 3 best looking morula and transferred those.

I'm waiting as patiently as I can for my beta on 6/4, but I'm wondering if anyone has had or heard of a successful 5 day morula transfer. I was so hopeful when they retrieved 19 eggs and this has been a bit of a disappointment.

Thanks,
Michelle

There's nothing wrong with transferring morulae. Many clinics do not transfer them because they have fewer visible features and are therefore more difficult to grade when compared to blastocysts.

thanks for the reply. I guess I was worried because the embryologist described them as slow, making me think there was not much chance they would work.
