Well my wife started having some pre-term contractions on Tuesday and needless to say it was a crazy day. Her contractions were fairly strong and 2 to 3 minutes apart and she was dilated to 1, but they said you can be there for months and it's no big deal. Thankfully they got the contractions to stop by giving her a shot, but I was scared to death since she is just over 26 weeks. It's still too early for our twin boys to show up, but the doctor told us today on a follow up appointment that her body is confused right now. He told us that her body thinks she's at 32 weeks right now and her uterus thinks it needs to start practicing for the big day. I just hope we can get her 8 more weeks as that would put her a month early and I'm still not too comfortable with that.
Destiny is not a matter of chance, it's a matter of choice.
Good luck!!!! That is soooooo scary! I ended up on hospital bedrest and it really wasn't bad at all. There are too many images of babies born WAY too early and teh outcome is so scary. I hope she is able to take it easy and rest as much as she can. Is she on bedrest yet? Sounds like she should be. I know it's harder on you but the NICU is far worse! My experience in the NICU was a good one but ours were born at 34 weeks and stayed 16 days. My friends twins were born at 30 weeks and stayed a little over 2 months!
Good luck and I'll be thinking of you and praying that your wife cooks the boys a lot longer! Keep us posted!

No, she's not on bedrest yet as the doctors don't seem that concerned about the whole issue. I'm scared to death of the NICU, but I know there is a fairly decent chance that they will end up there. She's worked from home everyday since Tuesday and has been doing nothing, but drinking water and laying down.

Scary! I went into labor at 24 weeks with our twins. I was put on bed rest. I kept my baby girls in there until 31 weeks which was still WAY WAY WAY too early. Almost 2 months in the NICU for us. While the NICU was the best for them it is still so hard on the parents to see your little baby fighting so hard. White boys def. need to be kept in there as long as possible because their lungs, for some reason, take longer to develop. I say, put the woman on bed rest. ESP if she is already dilated one cm. I was dilated one for less than a month then it kept getting bigger and bigger. Her uterus is getting so big and full that it will trick the body into labor for some people, your wife and me seem to be those people. Then it surprises me, like octomom, who kept her 8 in there for 32 weeks!
