I was just wondering if IVF affects the "term" of your pregnancy at all? I know that if you have multiples you are at risk for delivering early but how about singles? do most go full term or do they have a high rate of early births. Thanks everyone... I guess my mind is just busy tonight waiting for dh to get home from work.
I don't think ivf affects term length, I have never read that. I have seen many singletons here go well past their due date. I delivered at 38.5 wks, but it was a planned c-section because my baby was in the breech position. If she wasn't breech, I think I would have ended up being induced, b/c I had no signs of labor at all, never even felt what a contraction feels like. I remember being told that our pregnancy was no different than any other, even the pediatrician had no concerns knowing we conceived through ivf. Good luck with everything.

I had my ds from IVF and I was 37 weeks when I went into labor and delivered him...I think that the fact that they transfer you back to your OB fairly quickly after you get pregnant, speaks to the fact that you are treated almost just like any other pregnant lady...I've never heard anything about IVF affecting the length of your pregnancy (for singletons)...good luck!
Hi, well i had twins and no problems from them all through the pregnancy, i was admitted at 38 weeks for induction, when that failed i was booked for a c-section amd the boys were born at 38+2 days, so only 12 days early. Both perfectly healthy. I also never had any contractions think they would have stayed put forever!!!
good luck
Me 39, DH 40. TTC 5years
4th times a charm,1-IVF, 3xFET's, 2 chemical
Twin boys born 9/7/08
My DS was born at 35 weeks 5 days. No reason that the OB could figure out. hen researching pre term labor, singleton IVF is listed in risk factors for it, but I asked RE and he said there is no reason why IVF should cause preemies. He thinks it is just because we are researched and documented more than regular pregnancies.
Me 32 DH 31
DS 3rd try
8 failed cycles
No luck with adoption
DS 7/23/14 IUI after Celiac diagnosis
My DD was born at 40 weeks - just 2 days past my due date so they were very accurate. And this was only because my water broke. I was not dilated at all and had scheduled an induction for the following week (which would have been 41) but was admitted when my water broke. I had no problems or complications during my pregnancy (other than the normal morning sickness and heartburn!!) so IVF didn't seem to affect me or her at all.
